I Hate Systems

Chapter NaN: The System Predator

Chapter NaN: The System Predator

“I…give up!” Bernata suddenly lost all fighting spirit, collapsing to the ground as she raised her hands.

“I’ll just revive in a few months. No point in struggling in a losing battle anyway.” She groaned, gazing at Rhizen as she asked, “So, what’s the plan? There’s a reason you’re on that side, right?”

“Yep,” Rhizen nodded, “But before I talk first, we must destroy that entity in your body.”

“Sure…” Bernata just said when suddenly, she collapsed to the ground, grunting in pain as her limbs were moving beyond her control.

The Bullshit Luck System bullshitted its way into gaining control of her body, symbolised by how its actions and power never made any sense.

“Gahhh!” Bernata had just gotten up when Compass Carburettor’s System Punishment landed on her, causing her System to scream in pain as it was mortally wounded.

The System Punishment prevented her from moving for a moment when Compass Carburettor condensed Anthozoa, aiming it at her before pressing the trigger.

The bullet though, instead of the prior rectangular shape was somewhat formless now, rapidly morphing the moment it was shot out of the nozzle, turning into a serpent that opened its mouth and roared.

Dragon!

The bullet turned to resemble a metre-long dragon that slammed into Bernata, clamping onto a portion of the Bullshit Luck System from her body, ripping it apart before gobbling it up.

The severed fragment was destroyed immediately after as the dragon bullet vanished. Following it was another System Punishment that fully constricted Bernata, preventing her from even thinking.

‘So strong!’ Rhizen gazed at the scene in shock as he watched Compass Carburettor alternating attacks on Bernata, preventing her from retaliating against him even once. Slowly, he gazed at the Main Character, ‘So, this is how he deals with the Systems.’

Honestly, seeing Compass Carburettor in action gave him a lot of insight into the ways Systems acted. Even though it might not seem much, every single action taken by Compass Carburettor worked counter to the Systems.

It was as if his entire existence was a natural bane to the Systems, their predator.

The Dragon Bullets continued to rip apart and destroy parts of the Bullshit Luck System as soon after, Compass Carburettor finished unleashing his limit of five System Punishment and six Dragon Bullets.

Bernata lay on the ground, unable to move. But, the Bullshit Luck System was still alive. After all, it was a level 78 System. It wouldn’t die so easily.

This was where Rhizen took the lead, beginning to steal its luck, slowly gaining control over Bullshit Luck.

And the moment it seemed like the Bullshit Luck System was about to take action, Compass Carburettor snapped his finger, summing himself from a couple of hours ago, dealing a second round of System Punishment and Dragon Bullets, ensuring his opponent would never be able to do anything against him.

Even he was a bit surprised by the extent of strength that he had gained now. Honestly, even without the Restriction Order, Compass Carburettor had the confidence of easily killing Systems under level 30 without any schemes.

For Systems beyond that level, he would need to be careful like usual. His extent of strength was enough to kill Systems around level 50s.

Though, that was the limit. For Systems beyond that, his powers weren’t potent enough to rack up enough damage. And once he failed to kill them in the shortest duration, the Systems would devise a countermeasure.

Things were different in the Cultivation World thanks to the Restriction Order. But in its absence, the Systems would be able to connect with the Astral Network, their prime advantage, gaining knowledge, Skills, mysterious items, etc. that would help them prepare against his methods.

He wouldn’t be this overpowered without the Restriction Order. But as he held the advantage, Compass Carburettor planned to abuse it to the limit and ensure the Luck-based Systems wouldn’t be able to revive for at least a few hundred centuries.

Even if they were somewhat faster, he would become strong enough by then to casually deal with them. That was the level of confidence that he was operating at.

Moreover, Stencil was safe now. So, Compass Carburettor wasn’t pressed for time anymore. The initiative was with him now as he could casually deal with the Systems one after another.

It was them that were hard-pressed for time, having no other choice but to deal with him before the Apocalypse World looped.

But on his side, things were different. Rhizen had already fused with the Restriction Order, so he could remove it anytime he needed.

Moreover, Compass Carburettor had been obtaining enough accumulation from absorbing the Coordinates of high levelled Luck-based Systems, causing his strength to grow by leaps and bounds.

Thanks to this, even without Rhizen’s help, only half of his strength could now be sealed by the Restriction Order.

Only by focusing the entirety of the Restriction Order on him would it seal his powers fully.

“Haah…haah…is it done?” Bernata gasped for air, slumping to the ground as she gazed at the clear sky, asking in exhaustion. “Am I free now?”

“Yes,” Rhizen nodded, “But you’ll have to die for things to proceed safely.”

“This isn’t the first time I died anyway. So, I’m not concerned about that.” Bernata then looked at Rhizen nervously, “Are you…sure about this?”

“Going against the Systems is…” She hesitated to iterate the words.

“We have the Main Character on our side.” Rhizen smirked, “So, we’ll be safe.”

“Are you seriously underestimating the systems?” Bernata felt a headache, shuddering in fear upon thinking of the fate their world might end up in the future, “A single Grade 2 System is enough to slaughter the lot of us.”

“They won’t be doing that.” Rhizen said, “Or rather, they wouldn’t obtain the opportunity to do so.”

“Systems aren’t the sole force in the myriad of worlds you know.” Rhizen said in confidence, “It would have been impossible if Systems were the sole powers around here. But since that’s not the case, we have other alternatives.”

“There are other powers?” Bernata was shocked, gazing at Rhizen in surprise, “How did you find out about that?”

“You know…” Rhizen smiled wryly, “Coincidentally.”
