Chapter 103 - Pulling 101
Elliot spent his entire day Pulling the Pieces for the Terran Royalty Series. It was especially a tiresome thing to do since he had to use a lot of his energy. Good thing the Phantom Set had already been unlocked for him after a quest, and Isabelle was kind enough to give him the necessary potions to Pull.
He had told his friends that he won't be home for the day. He had to go to his old house to pull as to avoid the loud noise the star would produce.
He flopped back to his bed and instantly stood after the dust had fogged over him.
"This place had been neglected for so long," Elliot sighed. "Well, time to clean."
He spent the next hour cleaning the house. Replacing the sheets, cleaning the dusty kitchen, and the floor. Nothing much was left within the cottage since he brought his furniture and things with him.
The only thing left was the bed, the kitchen table, and two chairs.
"I kinda miss this home," Elliot confessed and flopped down his bed again. He had extra sheets for when they went on journeys for days on end. "I promise I'll visit you every week, house. You were the one who provided me shelter for years. Suddenly abandoning you would be a wreck."
He rolled on his bed and chuckled, realizing how cheesy he must sounded.
'Sentiments will destroy you.'
Elliot stopped and sat up, realizing the Manual had talked to him again.
"You decide things on your own, don't you?" Elliot asked.
He waited for a couple of minutes for a response, but failed. He laid back down and sighed.
"When will I get decent answers from you?" Elliot trailed but failed again. "Whatever."
The morning came and Elliot woke up to the sound of sizzling. He instantly sat up and looked around, seeing his mother in the kitchen.
Everything looked new and taken care of. The cabinets weren't eaten by termites, the house was clean and bright. The sun was shining over the world like it always does. Everything looked so perfect.
"My darling Elliot, you have woken up. I'm sorry if the sound of my cooking woke you up, dear," she said and smiled. "Come here, let's eat breakfast."
"Mom?" Elliot called out, a tear escaping his eye.
"Why are you crying, my dear? Come on, let us eat breakfast," his mother said and shook her head in amusement.
Elliot stood and smiled. He took a look at his hands and saw that they were small and precious, fragile even. A child's hands.
"It was just a dream," Elliot chuckled. "Mother, it was all a dream!"
Melissa looked over and tilted her head, "What's all a dream, dear?"
"Good morning."
Elliot froze when a familiar voice greeted. He heard the others talking while they were now sitting on the kitchen.
"What are you guys doing here?" Elliot asked as he saw his party in their house.
Lance, Connor, Hope and Ed. They were all there.
He flinched when a notification popped up.
'Multipele non-human detected.'
<< Santi >>
Race: Incubus
<< Gomorrah >>
Race: Succubus
"W-What?"
Everything went dark, his old home, his smile, his mother. Everything went pitch black as he felt himself being pulled up.
Elliot awoke by the sound of whispers around him. He sat up and grabbed his sword from his bedside, brandishing it and pointed it at the two figures in front of him.
"Who are you and what have you done to me?" Elliot growled.
There were two people in front of him, both wearing thin layers of clothing that hid barely anything. One was a man and one was a woman. Their most notable features were perhaps their curled horns and their small bat-like wings behind their backs.
"I can't believe I saw that," the man said. "He like his mother? And there were other people too. This man has a weird taste in things. I don't think I want to continue this."
Elliot almost dropped his sword, his jaws wide open. "What?!"
"Lesson number one," the woman raised her hand knowingly. "If a dream does not involve sexual scenarios, the person is not attracted to that person sexually."
"You mean–"
"This person has not have any romantic or sexual attractions to anyone," the woman cut the man off. "He's probably a lonely guy who hasn't even talked to girls."
"Hey," Elliot instantly scoffed. "I like girls. And I talk to them."
"Name a girl that you actually find attractive," the woman retorted making Elliot gasp. "And then they tried talking back."
"I know plenty. Err, uhm, Lilith, A-Alice, Midnight–"
"Midnight is not a woman, if you have forgotten," the woman crossed her arms.
"Right. Wait how do you know Midnight?" Elliot titled his head and the woman looked like a bucket of cold water was poured over her.
"We need to go!" she squealed and fired a smoke attack, concealing her along with Santi and left Elliot's house.
"What in the hell was that about?" Elliot placed his hand on his head. "Succubus and Incubus? But I thought they weren't real."
–
Elliot left his house instantly, going back to the guild house. It was still hours past dawn when he came so he had to wait alone in the silent guildhouse. When the sun came, his friends had entered and he ate with them.
"A what?" Connor instantly gasped after Elliot returned to their guild.
"A Succubus and an Incubus," Elliot said. "I haven't heard of them roaming around here ever."
"Same," Connor said, flopping back on his seat and pouted.
Everyone looked at Ed who was paling, silently eating his food.
"Okay Ed, spill," Elliot deadpanned.
Ed flinched after he heard his name being called. "W-What?"
"We know you have at least some knowledge with these Succubus people. They are within the area of your expertise after all," Connor snickered, emphasizing the last sentence.
"I-I…" Ed stuttered and sighed. "I might know a pub where you can take Succubus at an additional cost."
"Let's go there," Elliot said.
"You–" Lance just arrived, scoffing after he heard the conversation. "You want to hire a Succubus? Elliot, man, are you that desperate?"
"No," Elliot defended. "It's not like that. In my dream, I saw my mother–"
"Wild," Ed laughed. "Dude, you're secretly disgusting."
"Enough about yourself, Ed. Let me finish," Elliot said, making the other boy sit properly. "Good. I saw her but then she was just cooking breakfast. Then you guys were there too. I don't know why, but that's what I saw."
"So, you need answers?" Connor asked, making Elliot nod.
"Exactly. I have never heard of them attacking people before. Why now? And why me?" Elliot asked.
"They don't attack randomly. That's a fact," Ed said. "There must be someone who targetted you or…" Ed grimaced. "You hired one with your amazing sleep-talking ability."
Elliot pursed his lips, silently taking in the burn of the insult. "Just take us to the club."
"It's a members-only club," Ed said. "You cannot get in without a membership."
"How much does a membership cost?" Elliot asked.
Ed froze, clearing his throat as he fixed his collar. "F-Fourty gold per quarter."
"Fourty gold just for lewd dreams?!" the other four gasped.
"I never thought you'd sink lower," Connor shook his head disappointingly.
"B-But I had a discount worth 5 gold because I'm an Adventurer!" Ed defended, making his friends look at him lower even more.
"You even used the prestige of being an Adventurer," Lance sighed. "But it's your choice. We all have weird preferences."
"Good thing I'm normal," Connor said, making everyone look at him.
Ed leaned in and flicked Connor's forehead. "You're literally the devil, don't act like you're a normal citizen."
"Just take me to the club," Elliot pleaded.
"Wait," Ed raised his hands, stopping everyone. "Elliot, you do know what this means right? You saw your mother and your dreams did not involve sex."
Elliot tilted his head, "Why?"
"Dude, you don't like anyone?!"
