Chapter 109 - They Can Talk
The knights stood at the end of the long hallway, all looking at them with their glowing green eyes from under their helmets. Each knight was carrying a different weapon, the one who threw the spear, the one has a long thin sword, and the other one had a large scissors about a size of a man.
The knights' height wasn't something to reckon with either. Each of them stood about 4 meters tall, all with slender bodies that were covered with dull green armor. Their armor were filled with rust, looking like they were neglected for so long.
"Why the hell are those Knights here?" Lance gasped. "Everyone, prepare for positions. This is an Beta threat already."
"With these three alone–"
Elliot was cut off when the sword bearer appeared in front of them. He was a couple of meters away from them just a few seconds ago, but now he was in front of them.
"White Fortress."
Its sword slammed with the thick wall Lance put up with his White magic. The barrier shook, barely withstanding the pressure the attack did. The Knight placed its sword down and seemed to look at the group from the inside.
It raised his sword and was about to swing again when Elliot had interrupted. "Hasty Aspire!"
He had blasted off from the ground and through the fortress, clashing his sword with the Knight's, and merely lost his balance.
"He's too strong!" Elliot yelled. "What a monster."
"He has the strength of a hundred knights," Lance said. "He's bound to be strong."
Lance shot his ropes and tied them to the sword knight's sword, pulling him and throwing him away. "Damn strong if you ask me."
Elliot landed on the ground on his knee and was about to stood when the scissors knight was the one who attacked him this time. A burning red sword appeared before his eyes and raised the large scissors away from him.
"What a wimp," Connor chuckled. "What happened to you?"
"Sorry," Elliot sighed. "They're incredibly strong though."
Connor grit his teeth and forced the scissors up, pushing the knight away and blocked Elliot. "Argh. They are strong, what in the hell?"
The three knights gathered, stood by each other and stopped moving. A few seconds later, they vanish and reappeared around the group in a triangle.
"What is this?" Ellliot gasped.
The spear knight took its weapon and pointed it at them. It rumbled incoherent words under its metal helmet and started to dash to them.
Hope was the one who responded first, using his newfound strength and powers to buff himself and clash his greatsword with the knight's spear. His body had a light gray glow, showing the sign of the buff.
"Hope, what does it feel like being an Eternal?" Ed asked, he was the one who blocked the scissors knight this time. He bent his knee and struck from below, his arms over his head.
"I don't know, you ask me," Hope replied and blew the knight away. "I don't feel special enough. Only like leveling about 10 levels up."
"Yeah, that's what I felt too," Ed asked.
Lance battled the sword knight, a battle of speed. A competition was ensuing from them, a competition of who can slash the fastest.
The others saw this and thought not to meddle with them. Elliot went with Ed with the scissors knight while Connor was assisting Hope as a mage.
They already found their positions and formations, making it a testament that their friendship had grown even more. A quick lineup against a sudden enemy was something that a few parties can do. Even veteran groups, one with years of experience of being together, would at least take a minute before they could form a lineup.
It was understood that Ed and Hope were the greatest damage takers from the group. Connor can both fight close and in long range combat while Elliot was the one with speed. Lance was the one who has all attributes and mastered them to a great extent.
When dealing with three opponents, their group would be separated this way. When one group would be finished, they would split and assist the other groups.
"Mr. Godfather, can you stun?" Hope asked. "I will buff and strike him down, making sure to deal a lot of damage."
"Yeah, I can do that," Connor replied and raised his staff. "Infernal Blast."
Small red wisp-like flames surrounded the knight. It was about to back away when the wisps struck him, stalling him while Hope was casting his skill.
"Dragon's Grudge." His hands became claws, his nail got sharper and longer, as scales started to replace his skin. The scales ran up to his elbow, making it look like they were dragon arms instead.
His boots and legs were also replaced with a dragon's legs, claws formed from his toes and scales replaced his pants.
"Woah," Connor gasped. "That's amazing Hope."
Hope chuckled and blasted himself to the knight, digging his greatsword through the thick armor. He retrieved his sword and blood started to ooze from the wound of the knight.
"Ew," Hope remarked and thrusted his sword through the Knight's chest. "Mr. Godfather!"
Hope bent down while Connor was casting a spell.
"Infernal Flame Shot!"
He crossed his weapons, a swirl of flames appeared on the tip of them. The swirl formed a sphere, the sphere became a sharp pyramid before Connor fired his attack, burning the knight with the intense flames.
Hope had to roll away, taking his sword as the knight struggled to comprehend the pain the flames brought it. It dropped to its knees and cupped its face.
"W-Why…"
Hope and Connor's eyes widened after hearing the words from the knight. They look at each other in shock and looked back at the knight.
"Mr. Godfather, did you heard–"
"I did, Hope," Connor cut him off. "What in the hell was that?"
They ran to Elliot and Ed and instantly told him what happened.
"What happened?" Elliot gasped. "Why are you breaking formation?"
He was on top of the knight, his sword was piercing the knight's shoulder. The knight was moving, trying to remove Elliot from itself.
"Please…" A soft almost incoherent grunt came from the knight.
Elliot looked down, eyes wide as saucers, lips parted as he gasped. "What in the–"
A fist was delivered to him in a blow, knocking him off the knight while his sword was still in its shoulder.
"What was that?" Ed gasped. "Did we just hear it talk?"
"That's what we were trying to tell you," Connor snickered. "They can talk!"
