I Know The Secret To Surpass Level 100

Chapter 154 - A New Member

When they got inside Francoise's shop, the two greeted the man and Elliot let them roam around the shop to find their equipment.

Elliot gave them a task to finish. They would need to find equipment that they needed and Elliot would then select among which are good and which are bad.

Florencia had her high-end equipment already, yet she still asked if she could buy more. Her noble equipment were too flashy for a stealth knight, which were adorned with gold and a number of gems.

When they returned, Elliot made them place the equipment items they selected.

"Viper, you seem to share the same fighting style as me. It won't be hard to teach you," Elliot said. "Well, what you have here are good pieces. Though, you need lighter items so it won't hinder your movements. Unless you want to be a Knight and tank for your team."

"Is tanking bad?" Viper asked.

This caught Elliot off guard. He has to think twice about everything he's going to say to the boy since Viper only studied affinities and their fundamentals. When it comes to battles and tactics, he was still zero.

"Tanks are the ones who carry the team," Elliot started. "In a party, you can have zero mages, but never zero tanks. They're essential considering they take most the damage. A Knight can tank when he has tanking equipment, and no to mention his affinity."

"Why does the affinity matter?" Viper followed. "Can't a flame user or an affinity like me tank?"

Elliot turned to Francoise for help, but the man shrugged. "You can just tell them straight to the point. It's best that way."

"Well, you see there are compatibilities we need to consider," Elliot cleared his throat and relaxed himself. "You see, a tank can have any affinity but it's best if he has buffing skills. These skills can include boost in defense, boost in offense, or hardening."

Viper nodded, scribbling in his notes that Elliot didn't saw where he got. "So, can a fighter tank if there's a healer or a buff giver?"

Elliot thought about it and nodded, "Yes. They can. That is called Sustain strategy. It's quite risky though. You have to keep your eyes on your healer, for they might get taken out and then what'll happen to your team?"

"Wiped out," the two younger ones chorused.

"Right," Elliot nodded and proceeded. "When using a sustain strategy, you have to have one main damage taker, other fighters and one who's close to the healer. It's a lot of work rather than just having a tank."

"So, my affinity is not compatible with tanking, huh?" Viper noted. "I never knew a tank before. I want to know how it feels since I can't do it."

Elliot's eye twitched after a particular person's face entered his mind. He remembered how George was so eager to be hit by opponents, as though he was craving for the pain.

F*cking masochist. He mirrored Luck's words.

"You both have specialized affinities, ones that do not lean to the basic elements," Elliot said. This is nice since most enemies wouldn't know what to expect from either of you. Florencia uses Mirror Magic while Viper uses Poison Magic as an extension of–"

"But isn't Poison Magic common?" Florencia asked, quirking her brow up. "I saw a lot of Adventurers with Poison affinities. Ones with common attacks too. Deadlu."

"But Viper's original affinity is not poison," Elliot returned the smirk. "His poison magic is only used as a mask for his true affinity, which is Curse Magic."

"But I thought Curse Magic was one of the Lost Magus?" Florencia gasped. "Is it true?"

"Yeah," Viper scratched the back of his head. "I know, it's awesome, right?"

"A bit," Florencia said and shrugged. "But I'm not that impressed."

I could tell that she is so impressed. Elliot thought and shook his head in amusement.

"Okay, let's finish up here and start with our first practice," Elliot clapped his hands once and smiled. "Let's go!"

The area was silent, the river running smoothly as the forest trees showered their shade on the ground below.

"Die!"

A scream made the birds fly in panic, flying away from the loud sounds of battle cries and clashing swords. Florencia blocked Elliot's attack, her dagger and short sword being pushed towards her body by how Elliot overpowered her.

She grit her teeth and pushed her weapons out, crouching down to extend her right leg and spun. She tried to swerve Elliot with her leg but the older boy hopped over her attempted attack.

"Why you–" Florencia growled and backed away. "Hey, wimp. Distract him for a second, will you?"

Viper nodded and dashed towards Elliot. Using the sword he got from Francoise, he tried to slash his sword forward, his attack blocked by Elliot effortlessly.

"You need to add more power in your attacks," Elliot noted. "Try again."

A figure from the top of the tall trees stood, slowly brandishing her sw

"Perfect Copy!"

Florencia leaped from a branch of a tree and into the ground. Using both her short weapons, she pointed them at herself.

There were now two Florencia's that approached to Elliot in high speed.

Yet, before she could even attack, her clone vanished into thin air. Elliot stood beside her, smirking as he pointed his sword at the girl. "Checkmate."

There were silence after Elliot's words. Florencia had no choice but to put down her weapons and surrender.

"You never let us win," Florencia grunted.

"Hey, everyone!" Midnight walked from behind one of the trees. He was carrying a scroll with him, along with a small bag. "Viper, could you come here for a second?"

"Is that it?" Elliot asked, his face brightening.

Florencia pouted, feeling left out. "What is that?"

"A contract," Elliot answered and ran to Viper who was still laying on the ground. "Viper, Midnight has brought the contract!"

The younger boy did not hesitate to sit up. When his eyes met the scroll Midnight was currently opening, he immediately stood and ran over to him.

"An Adventurer Contract?" Florencia gasped. "So, you weren't an Adventurer?"

Viper turned to her and shook his head, "No. But I will be real soon."

"So that's why I couldn't add him," Florencia said to herself. "I thought he was just being mean and snobs me."

Midnight handed Viper the pen and paper, a wide smirk on his face. "The Guardian's Permission for Underaged Adventurers had already been signed by Madam Josephine and the guild master. The only thing left is your signature. But let me get your information for the files first."

"Okay!" Viper replied with a high-pitched voice. Anyone could tell that Viper was overwhelmingly excited. He was about to become an Adventurer and become stronger than he currently is.

As he was discussing things with Midnight, Florencia has pulled Elliot to the side.

"So he's not an Adventurer yet?" Florencia asked. "And here I thought he was just a wimp. Why didn't you tell me anything?"

"You didn't ask though," Elliot quriked his brow up, crossing his arms. "But you know, he is pretty strong, right?"

"Yeah, he is," Florencia said. "I need to keep an eye on him though. I thought he was at Level 5 or something. Turns out he wasn't even Level 1."

"His potential is limitless, trust me on this," Elliot grinned and ruffled her hair.

Viper's body glowed after signing the contract. It overwhelmed the shaded forest floor and created a burst of light inside.

'Congratulations.. You are now a member of the Azure Scorch Guild.'
