Chapter 210 - Talking In Another Realm
Elliot and Lance didn't wait until nightfall so they could go to the pub. It was a pub where it's open day and night.
"Let's go," Lance said.
They were now outside the pub and they were next in line. Elliot was particularly nervous since he wasn't the biggest fan of pubs.
"Wait," Elliot chuckled awkwardly, he pulled Lance's wrist and grinned. "I don't have a particularly good memory in these places. Can we just meet somewhere else?"
Lance deadpanned, "Goodbye, Elliot."
Lance took his hand away and walked inside, leaving Elliot behind.
"Okay, fine," Elliot groaned and stood. He walked inside, running before Lance. There was another guard stationed outside the door as the man who would open and close the thick wooden door.
"Welcome," the guard said and pushed the wooden door open.
Lance got inside first then Elliot followed him. Inside the door was a dark narrow hallway. It led to another door that had loud noises just through it.
"Let's go." Was all what Lance said before he pushed the door open. Elliot's eyes couldn't adjust on time by the bright lights inside.
There were flashing different colored gems inside the bar and formed rays with them. The loud noise was coming from the people who were cheering on the half naked women on the platforms.
They wore nothing but strings to cover their private parts, dancing to the sound of the bard by the corner. The men were cheering them on, some placing gold coins on the platform where the women stood.
"Cain said he'll be by the corner," Lance informed to which Elliot nodded. They walked deeper into the bar and found the red haired man sitting alone in the corner.
He had dozens of bottles in his table, his face looked dreaded as he slumped his body back in his cushioned chair.
"Cain?" Lance called out that awoke the man. "Cain, tell me what exactly happened."
"Malice took my kids," Cain replied without any hesitation. "I left them for a moment because I had to go and do some errands, and when I came back, they're gone."
"And I heard Lilith retired?" Lance asked. "Right after she retired, the kids went missing along with her."
"I told her to retire," Cain said that made the two boys look at each other. They made the assumptions that Lilith took her siblings and ran away after she retired. Because if she don't, she would be bonded to the Guardianship and the Kingdom would locate her wherever she goes.
"I suggested we live a normal life, and she said she had been waiting for me to say so," Cain explained. "She filed the retirement the next day. The Adventurer chief was even hesitant to let her go. A Guardian must serve at least 10 years to fully enjoy their benefits, but Lilith didn't care about that."
"Then I came back home, and everything was a wreck. They house was burning and when I put it out, I saw Lilith's crystal swords were everywhere and I could see traces of dark magic inside, and there was also demon blood on the floor that I–"
Cain couldn't hold his tears and started to cry. Lance and Elliot looked at each other before sitting beside him, placing their hands on his back comfortingly.
"I wish they're still alive. Malice is the wickedest thing in any Realm," Cain said with gritted teeth. "I will hunt her down if it's the last thing I do."
"But," Elliot interrupted him. "How did you know it was Malice? It could just be any random attack."
"There was a black well in the living room," Cain said. "The well was broken when I came back. They must've destroyed it so I couldn't follow them. Jokes on them, I will follow them. I can pass through Realms and I will go to Hell and find my children."
"No," Lance said. "It's no use going to Hell if you're just going to die trying."
"You don't understand," Cain cried. "They want Adam. Adam has the power to see something in the future that can flip the balance of the Realms."
Lance and Elliot looked at each other, not sure about what this man means.
They waited for him to continue but instead, he stood and his eyes seemed to be following something in the crowd. His forehead began to sweat that he wiped off with the back of his hand.
"We'll talk somewhere else," Cain said and took his coat. "Follow me."
He walked to the bathroom that Elliot and Lance thought the place they were going to talk in. Cain let them inside first and walked next, closing the door and leading them to the end of the bathroom.
"Stay," Cain whispered and spun. The next moments seemed to come out of the blue.
The door blasted open and three men came in. They were immediately knocked out by three flaming balls by Cain. The balls engulfed them with a raging fire, turning them to ashes in a matter of seconds.
"Hell's Spawn," Cain said. "They're following me. Let's go."
"Let's go? Let's go where?" Elliot asked, looking around to see nothing.
"Inferno," Cain said and tapped his right foot twice. The ground below them formed a small portal that led to what seemed like a reflection. "Get ready to flip."
"Flip– oh wow!" Elliot wasn't able to finish when he felt himself fall inside the portal. When they passed through, he felt his body being pulled back, only to crash into the red brick ground. "That wasn't a reflection. That was another portal."
"I'm sorry, it was the fastest portal I could make," Cain said. "They're waiting for us."
"Waiting?" Elliot tilted his head. "Who's waiting."
"Yo!" Teresa's voice came from the side. She walked towards them with Levitican, both holding each other's hands.
"I don't know what is happening here," Elliot whispered to Lance who had the same look of confusion in him.
"Cain called ahead saying he'll bring in friends, I never expected it to be you," Teresa chuckled. "Come. Your other friend might be with the Priestess."
Elliot knit his brows in confusion, "Other friend?"
–
"Oh, you, don't do that," they heard Geneva giggle inside the room. Teresa said they should hide their presence while sneaking to the office, then they would suddenly open the door to surprise the people inside.
Teresa was ready to push the wooden door open, only to gasp when it opened by itself.
"The Cauldron told me you were coming," Geneva said. "Come, Connor is absorbing this Artifact."
Elliot and Lance peaked on the doorway and saw their blonde friend sitting on a couch. He had a floating lamp between his palms, his attention solely being taken by the item.
"Done," Connor said.. "I can now inflict a double burn effect to my ene– mies… Hey."
