Chapter 238 - The Ones Who Shall Harness
The woman placed her hand on her chest in shock. The Assassins around her were massaging her shoulders and her arms to help her steady her breathing.
"What if an Unawakened Eternal receives the Twilight Bless?" Elliot asked. "I know three."
"Unawakened…" Madam Locraine paused. "Wait, did you just say an Eternal?"
"Yes," Elliot nodded. "I know three Unawakened Eternals. From Inferno, Dracon, and Etheoria. I happen to be friends with the three of them."
"Then we might have a chance. I've read about some of the leftover tests in the royal library and a powerhouse such as the Eternals may be able to handle it," Madam Locraine whispered. "I think you are also capable of wielding one of the Twilights Wings. You have great power inside you, I saw in the Championship of the Greats."
"But I'm not an Eternal," Elliot chuckled. "I'm just an ordinary Adventurer."
"Stop being humble and own up to your ridiculously insane power," Madam Locraine stood and looked at Elliot in the eyes. "You know, we needed the Eternals to take one each just to be safe. But it doesn't mean that what we only need are Eternals. We also need powerful people like you."
"But we still need two more," Elliot said. "I think Lance can handle one, but then that's still one left."
"Then let us call Elizabeth herself," Madam Locraine smirk. "In the events, if ever, that the strong magic from the Twilight Bless would rip your flesh apart, Elizabeth can replenish them. Her capabilities are superb and I could see the success in this."
"But Madam… are you sure about this?" Elliot asked. "I also need to consult with my friends with this, and Polschk too."
Madam Locraine sighed, "Well, I cannot push myself for you to do what I say. So let's do this instead. Suggest this to your allies and report back to me. If they agree, then I'll do anything and everything in my power to help."
"Okay," Elliot nodded and smiled. He went back to the door, opening it. "Okay. I will go back right now."
"And Elliot," Madam Locraine walked over to him and handed him a small pure white amulet. "When this amulet turns black, then someone around you thinks against everything you believe in. They want to destroy you in the back of their heads but they're just hiding it."
"O-Okay," Elliot nodded slowly. "How much do I have to pay for this?"
"It's yours," Madam Locraine said. "Just be careful, Elliot. We don't know what darkness lies around us."
Elliot nodded and smiled, "I will keep that in mind. Thank you so much."
He didn't waste any more time and got outside, going to his friends to tell them the news.
'Quest [ Antique Mirror ] completed.'
'The reward is now in your Inventory.'
Elliot smirked at the message. With one last look at the giant mansion, he sighed at The Manual.
"You didn't make me come here for the Mirror, huh?"
–
When Elliot got back to the guild, everyone was in the lobby. They seemed to be rather calm even when Round Three was getting close.
"Uhm, hello?" Elliot called and out in the hopes of getting their attention.
"There you are," Connor said from the bottom of the stairs. "We were looking everywhere for you. Where have you been?"
"Do you guys know Madam Locraine?" Elliot asked. Everyone in the room apart from Lance shook their heads. "She's an antique seller and she knows about the Twilight Bless too."
"Why does it seem like a lot of people know about this?" Ed scrunched his face. "I thought it was a secret thing?"
"The Elites know most things in the world," Lance said. "But Madam Locraine isn't just an Elite. She's a strong person who has deep roots with ancient magic. Perhaps that's why she knows about this sealed magic."
"What is her affinity?" Elliot turned to Lance. "You seem to know her."
"We met a couple of times in the palace. My father likes to collect her items and she likes to sell," Lance chuckled. "Her magic allows her to feel the most pull of an antique item from the past. She could feel how much an item is valued."
"So, she's a non-combatant?" Elliot asked while Lance shook his head.
"In her prime, she reached Top 14 as an Adventurer. She can also do a lot of things with an antique item. Her most common one was to switch places with an antique item, making her one of the most dangerous Rogues."
Elliot was surprised by how much Madam Locraine must have changed. Stealth Knights needed to be slim for them to move faster. Their equipment needed to be light and comfortable so it wouldn't hinder their speed.
"What did she say about the Twilight Bless?" Lance finally asked.
"She said an Unawakened Eternal may have the powers to harness the Twilight Bless," Elliot started. "And since we already have three, she said I could harness one. Along with you and Elizabeth."
"No."
Their heads spun when they head Polschk from the door. He walked inside the inn with his cane and the buttefly cage. "We cannot let more people to know about this. We need to be cautious as to which person to choose for the job."
"What are you suggesting?" Lance asked, slightly quirking his brow up.
"I'll be the sixth person to receive the Twilight Bless," Polschk said. "I have been preparing myself for this ever since. I only failed to have the chance since my age is far from the destined year. But I am sure that my body can keep up."
"But Polschk–"
"And I'm old," Polschk cut Lance off. "We don't have to worry about the power becoming rogue because I will die soon. I believe once I take the power, it will die with me."
"Polschk, are you sure about this?" Lance asked and the man nodded.
Polschk looked at his butterflies and sighed, "It's been years since I took care of these butterflies. I can feel a strong sense of bond between us. I can do it."
–
"P-Please don't kill me…" a girl with a pointed ear begged as she kneeled in front of a woman. "I will do anything for you, just don't kill me."
They were in a dark alley and three people were kneeling in front of the woman.
"Little Daniel? How about you forfeit the game and let me enter?" the woman said. "I can arrange things, so you don't have to worry about being disqualified for changing teammates."
"I will let you play," Daniel stood from the ground and faced her. "Now, let my friends go."
Behind the woman were several members of their guild. Each of them were tied to a wooden cross that stood behind the woman.
"Okay." The woman clicked her hand and all of the wooden cross vanished, letting the people fall down with a thud. "Now that it's all set, we're one step closer to the Twilight Bless."
