Chapter 26 - The Quest Board
Elliot's knees trembled at the sight of the colossal form of Midnight in front of him. It was impossible to believe in.
"Are you okay?" Lance asked who just walked out of the dorms with a bottle of white potion. "Well, he's okay. Midnight I mean. If he forgets to drink his potion at a full moon, he loses control. And Midnight often forgets to drink so that's a common occurrence."
"Is that so?" Elliot asked.
Lance nodded, "Yeah. It'll be over soon. See 'ya."
He blasted off from the ground and into a few meters above Midnight. "Everyone, now!"
The other guild members pinned Midnight down through the rope. Lance lowered himself and into the lion-looking head of Midnight.
"Shh, calm down," Lance said. Elliot walked over to see everything clearer. Lance muttered something and forcefully opening Midnight's mouth. He poured the contents of the bottle and closed Midnight's mouth, making him swallow it.
Midnight roared and squirmed, seemingly in pain.
When Elliot was about to walk over, Lance held his hand. "He's just shifting back."
The colossal darkness-colored beast looked like it burned gently, the form fading. Sun came over and wrapped his older brother with a blanket. Elliot could see how everyone took care of Midnight, a member of their own guild.
He looked around and figured why the guild house was so wrecked. As Lance said, this was a regular occurrence. They might've lost the will to return the guild back to looking new, so they settled on minor repairs.
It was going to be destroyed the next month anyway.
The sorcerers had started to fix the damages. Everyone was helping out with the repairs and it was only the time that Elliot saw that the guild had a few more members. It wasn't just Lance, Frederick, and the Cosmo brothers.
"I'm sorry for disturbing you," Lance said. "You can go back to your room now. Everything is settled."
"No, I'm okay," Elliot said. His eyes found something on the other side.
It was the quest board.
The quest board was placed on a stage-like platform on the side of the guild. This is where the Adventurers would get their quests and a counter was beside it so that the Adventurers could claim the rewards.
He excused himself and walked over to it.
"Are you looking for a specific quest?" a boy asked when Elliot got there. He had green hair and a pointy ear, meaning he was part elven.
"N-No, I just want to see what suits me," Elliot replied.
The boy nodded and pouted. "Okay. Well, my name is Glitch. I'm in charge of the quest board."
"Okay, thank you."
Elliot walked to the quest board platform and read the quests.

…
Elliot had skimmed through the quests and most of it was all in Meteorite. Meaning, the weakest one. Meteorite quests require 8 times of completion to participate in a conquest. This would take Elliot weeks.
The number of low-level quests would make sense since Azure Scorch was on the bottom of the top rankings. Elliot shuddered at the thought of the guild that wasn't included in the top 100. They were what's called as the bottom feeders.
They could still add members but unlike the top guilds, it would take them time and cost them money.
This laughable system was used by the Palace for as long as Adventurers started their legacy. The Palace wanted to make sure that the strong would get stronger and the weak would be eradicated.
"I forgot to tell you," Lance said from behind Elliot. "Each quest requires a number of participants. A Meteorite would require three, Meteor would need seven, and Comet would need at least twelve."
"Thanks for the late information," Elliot said sarcastically.
This made Lance snort and chuckle. "I said I was sorry."
"Are you going to come?" Elliot asked.
"I was the one who dragged you here. Of course, I would come," Lance grinned.
"We only need one more," Elliot said. "Do you know anyone we can come with?"
They thought for a moment when a squeaky voice said, "C-Can I come?"
Elliot looked and his eyes glimmered in surprise. "Connor! What are you doing here?"
"M-My parents saw a friend who took them out the continent…" Connor trailed off. "And I… I want to go on adventures with you. I realized that after they said that I was happier when you two were around."
"After all that crying?" Lance remarked that earned him a smack from Elliot.
"I'm sorry Elliot," Connor said. "I'm sorry if I abandoned you."
Elliot gasped, "Connor, you never did. But are you sure about this?"
Connor nodded, "I'll call my parents every day."
The next thing Connor knew, he was engulfed in a hug from the two. His eyes welled and he returned the hug.
"Thank you, guys."
After their hug, the three narrowed their eyes at the quest board. They were looking for a suitable quest for them to gain level as much as they could. If they would do a quest every 2 days, they'd be finished just before the conquest would start. They didn't care about the hard quests since Lance alone could finish it.
After a few more minutes, they had agreed on something.
"Hey Glitch," Lance walked over and handed the paper. "Connor, Elliot, and I would take this quest."
Glitch nodded and registered the quest. "Here you go. Good luck!"
"Thank you," Elliot said and uploaded the quest.
