Chapter 310 - Battle For The Twilight Bless (1)
Elizabeth felt the wind blew past her. Elliot was gone from her side in a flash. Polschk groaned and raised his hands, creating large trees that surrounded the wagon Alice was on.
"Stop!" Elliot yelled. He brandished his sword and spun mid-air, cutting the trunk of the tree in half. "You will not sacrifice anyone, Polschk."
"For the good of the kingdom!" Polschk yelled. "This kingdom shall rise once again. And I will become its king!"
"As if!" Lance yelled. He launched himself from the balcony and fired towards Polschk. He took both his swords out and created black and white flames from them, slashing his attacks towards the old man who was hovering above them.
"Pathetic!" Polschk yelled. The earth on the small island he was on grew black trees that created a dome around him. The trunk of some of the trees peeled, revealing a white inside. "Black and White Tree of Life!"
The moment Lance's attacks hit the trees, they all dissipated. The prince landed on the ground, gritting his teeth in anger as he saw how easy it is for Polschk to counter him.
"I am an old man," Polschk said. "From deep the mountains of the Meilien Islands of the Dark South. Our people are Druids that live for hundreds of years. With the years I had, I accumulated magic, mixing them with my affinity and creating new breakthroughs."
"The old should rest," Connor whispered. He took both his weapons out. The tip of his staff burst with a blue flame, the blonde boy dropping it and placing both his feet on the shaft. He raised his sword and lit it aflame, using his staff as a ride to get closer to Polschk.
Hope and Ed leaped from the balcony and into the ground where Lance was. They were going to figure out how they were going to reach Polschk at such a distance.
"Hope, morph," Ed said. The gray-haired boy shook his head, flattening his lips in disappointment.
"Morphing would drain my mana," Hope said. "We're still at the first phase. I can't manage to absorb the Bless if I'm weak."
"That's surprisingly smart of you," Lance chuckled. "But don't worry about everything. We can manage this."
"But how?" Ed asked him.
The prince glanced at Elizabeth's direction who was placing both her hands on the floor. She was chanting a spell under her breath while a green magic circle spun below her.
"You think you're the only one who can use such magic?" Elizabeth smirked. "Let me show you the magic of a Forest Folk then! Maze of Grand Ivy!"
The ground shook and this time, large trunks of vines grew from it. The vines formed an oval spherical shape, using the shape of the stadium as its basis for its shape.
"Thank you!" Lance yelled. "I owe you one, Liz."
"I don't know why you're doing this Polschk, but you have to stop!" Elizabeth yelled. "Zeus and Johnson are coming. And once they do–"
"You'll all be dead!" Polschk yelled and slammed both his hands on the floor of the island. He then raised his head and let his eyes glow with the purplish black color of the concentrated beam above him.
Polschk then raised his hands on either side of him, kneeling as he kept his head looking up above. He started chanting spells that used unfamiliar words, the veins on his neck slowly becoming visible ans started pulsating.
"From the light of the twilight, I give you the Arch Mage's blood to break the seal of the eternal darkness put upon you!" Polschk yelled. "Use the keys from the ancients and let us fly!"
When Polschk thrust his arms forward, the orb flickered. The old man looked down and saw that Alice wasn't on the stone platform anymore. He looked around and saw her on the side, Elliot carrying her as she struggled to take of the chains on her wrist.
"Like you could actually escape this!" Polschk yelled. He thrust to their direction without Elliot noticing. Everyone gasped after seeing the orb shift its focus, going after Elliot instead.
"Elliot!" Lance yelled. "Watch out!"
His voice came a second too late. The beam had already been fired and his movements were just slowing down after the time of his Hasty Aspire ran out.
Time slowed in his mind. He felt his feet slowly lose the burst of energy his skill gave, making him doubt he'll be able to avoid the attack. "Crap!"
With a blast, the bleachers where Elliot was destroyed. The stone seats blasted everywhere, even hitting the Zodiac Sphere outside.
"Such magic," Frederick whispered. He stood and raised his hand, only for him to go back in his chair with a metal chain tied around his body. The chains contained small fragments of suppression gems, making him only acquire a tiny portion of his magic.
"What in the hell is this?!" Luck yelled. He was also in the same situation as Fredrick, along with all the other Adventurers. The red-haired guild master grit his teeth and looked at Jameson who was being dragged by the Son of Heaven's followers.
"What are you doing?!" Jameson gasped. "Is this why you needed the suppression gems?"
"Come with us Prince Jameson, and you will not be hurt," one of the white cloaked men said.
"No," Jameson pushed him and smirk. "Filthy f*ckers."
Both the men who were after him groaned and yelled his name when the boy passed through the stone roof. He got on the judges' balcony but the three people weren't there anymore. "What in the hell is happening?"
"Get him!"
His head snapped to the side when a voice yelled and slammed the door open. Four Son of Heaven followers came and were carrying weapons with them. "Take Prince Jameson alive!"
The prince sighed and threw four red stones at them. When the stones hit the first man, it lit ablaze, swallowing everyone by the door with its fierce flames. Jameson passed through the floor once more. He continued doing it until he was in a dark room that had a red glowing light in the corner.
Jameson walked closer to the light, eyes widening after seeing that it was the cocoon in Elliot's room. It was inside a vine cage that he thinks Polschk made. It had a small door on the side so he placed his hand there, "W-What the…"
He trailed off and tried to touch the cocoon, onlt for his finger to be caught on a web-like structure that had the color of a rainbow mixed together. The sticky web got thicker as his hand got closer to the cocoon, the item igniting after his hand made contact with the red object.
Jameson's fingertip ignited with a bright multicolored light after. The light traveled throughout his body until he was swallowed by it. The prince covered his face with his other arm, protecting his eyes from the blinding lights until it died down.
When he opened his eyes again, the cocoon was now gone and a butterfly flapped its wings gracefully around the cage. Jameson gulped, taking his hand out and closing the door of the cage. "What is this?"
–
Outside the halls of the stadium, dust clouded over the area where the beam was blasted on. Everyone could only hold their breaths as they waited for any sign of life, doubting that anyone could survive it.
Their attention was caught when Polschk laughed at himself. A sound of rustic metal groaning as the man slowly went down to the crack of the large stone platform. "It has opened! The keys are now twitching. They will soon unlock the Twilight Bless amongst these butterflies and–"
Polschk paused when he saw the people who were carrying the sphere for the Twilight Wings were lying on the floor, all unconscious. He turned his head around to look for the culprits, only for his gaze to see Connor hovering in the air with the large transparent sphere in his hands.
He was using his staff vehicle quite well, driving in the air as if he was a witch. Connor smirked as Polschk pointed at him, "Get me that boy and those Wings before the keys fully react!"
Connor was being chased with the Son of Heaven followers when stone bricks sounded from the ruined seats. The skirmish stopped for a second, everyone was holding their breaths as a figure emerged from the cloud of dust.
"That's Elliot!" Lance yelled, pointing at the figure that stood still.
"Impossible!" Polschk yelled, eyes widening as Elliot's figure slowly became clearer. "They should've died!"
The fear in his face was replaced by a wide grin when the figure was cleared. Elliot was standing with his legs far apart, his body was trembling as he stared on the void in front of him. Alice was unconscious behind Elliot but that wasn't what shook everyone to the core.
Elliot had lost both his arms, blood oozing from the wounds like geysers. He dropped to his knees before falling face first on the floor, succumbing to his wounds.
"I-Is this… my end?"
