Chapter 312 - Battle For The Twilight Bless (3)
Jameson uttered the words and gave the vine cage to the woman before he fainted. Isabelle placed her hand on the boy's neck, checking his pulse.
When she felt it, a sigh of relief escaped her lips. "Kian, this boy will continue my legacy."
"You're saying that like you're going somewhere," Kian joked, smirking as he looked at Isabelle in the eyes. When he doesn't see the hint of humor in them, he instantly stepped back and shook his head. "No. Isabelle, you're planning to do something dangerous again. I can't let you do that."
"I have a 30% chance of surviving," the woman chuckled. She took the cage and gave it to Kian who reluctantly took it in his hands. Isabelle then placed her right hand on her skirt's pocket, taking out six multicolored gems. "Zodiac Sphere."
She threw the gems in the unconscious Jameson's direction, the stones bursting with the beams and the thin coat of forcefield around the boy. Isabelle watched smirked as she glanced at Jameson. "Zodiac Spheres are one of the strongest protective spells a gem caster can use. Practice more, kid."
Isabelle exited the room with Kian trailing behind her. There was a glint of determination in her face. "The Twilight War will begin once the angels take this barrier down."
"Isabelle…" Kian trailed off. "Don't tell me that's why you placed a part of your soul in the barrier?"
"That's exactly why," the woman retorted. "There will be no chaos if we could prevent the war. I will not let anyone of these young Adventurers to perish. The Angels took Cacten away from me. I won't allow them to take the rest of Avancia."
–
"Save them!" Luck yelled to the members of the Azure Scorch. He was pertaining to the other Adventurers who were still bound on their chairs. Polschk had gotten more and more followers to side with him, some in the elite ranks.
They needed allies now more than ever.
Meanwhile, surrounding Polschk was the rest of Elliot's party. Lance was wrecking havoc as he slashed his powerful attacks aimlessly. His eyes were glowing with black and white along with swords that were flaming with rage.
"How can Polschk keep up with this?!" Ed grunted. "I can barely see his attacks, yet that old man can dodge well."
"His affinity," Connor whispered. "His affinity is Flora, and his magic was enhanced to the point that it could bear other affinities as its flower. He had upgraded so much, but we're still below him."
"Why are you making it seem like we should do something with our own affinities?" Ed asked. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
Connor nodded and raised his sword, "Of course."
"What are we thinking again?" Hope asked that made the two slap their heads hard.
"Just a few more and I'll give up on you," Connor deadpanned. "But Hope, right now we need to surpass our limits and evolve."
"I can morph–"
"Not like that, you idiot!" Ed yelled. He brandished his sword and let the dark purple aura ignite from it. He took a deep breath and spun, his sword following him that created a trail of light. The dark purple color slowly faded into a flame of black with violet outline.
His aura had felt different. He seemed even more powerful than before. Connor and Hope looked at each other and tried to do what Ed did. After they turned, they looked at each other, faces contorted because nothing had happened.
"You think I just spun didn't you?" Ed flattened his lips and rolled his eyes. "What I did was push all the chaos magic I could handle and the went over my limit."
"And why did you spin?" Connor scrunched his face as he tried to process it.
"That was just for show," Ed said. "You two should also do this. This alone will help us a lot in battling with Polschk."
"You did it so easily," Hope said. "I can't do that."
"Everytime I use the power of my right arm, there's an urge in my mind to pass through the line over where I can control it," Ed said. "For the first few times that urge was strong, and it would often overpower me. But after a few times of training myself to not fall under that urge, I–"
"Infernal Morph: Ruler of Abyssal Flames."
"Dragon's Rage: Impure Scales of Destruction."
There was a bright flames that swallowed Connor. The red flame had lit up so bright that it caught the attention of everyone around them. From the flames, only Connor's figure could be seen, his red bright figure inside the blue flames was what only the others saw.
He raised his hand and the flaming sword he used floated on his fingertips. The handle slowly went down to his palm, which Connor grabbed and whisked in the air. His transformation even halted Polschk from his chants, the bright light from Connor's body had radiated to him.
"They are Eternals," Polshck whispered. He brought his attention back into making the keys move slowly, ignoring the impending threat that Lance had been bringing him. His vines were enough to hold back the angry prince, making him able to focus on his current task.
–
As the flames on Connor's body died down, his now darker skin tone that was littered with tattoos in all directions emerged. His three pairs of horns that started form his temple to the back of his head crowned over his now pitch black hair.
Although his weaponds didn't change their appearance, the intensity and amount of the flames they emitted had made them look even more powerful. Connor stood on his floating staff while holding his sword like a mighty warrior.
Meanwhile beside him, Hope had his body lit up with a dimmer gray light. His aura didn't match Connor's in terms of brightness but the power it exuded made it clear that their enemies should fear him just as well.
While his body became bulkier as muscles thickened all over his body, his skin had grown harder, turning to a light gray color. On the shoulders, chest, crotch, and legs of his rock-hard skin, even tougher scales grew as armor. Hope groaned, feeling something on his lower back.
The people around him could only gasp as a tail of a dragon grew from it. The long cone-like tail with sharp eminences had slithered on Hope's back. His face contorted, fangs replaced his teeth and his gray hair grew longer, reaching up to his lower back.
"That's not fair," Ed immediately said. "How come you two get to have that awesome transformation and all I got was a spun."
The dragon-looking Hope walked towards Ed and placed his hand on the shorter man's shoulder. "You don't have to morph. Besides, your dark purple aura is already flashy enough."
Ed rolled his eyes and had no other choice but to turn to Polschk's direction. He was still on his knees and his hands were on the stone floor of the floating islands as incoherent words came out from his mouth.
"I could smell fear," Hope said. "He's afraid of us."
"Well, duh," Ed rolled his eyes and scoffed. "As if a prince is becoming crazy while attacking him in frenzy isn't enough to make me one. Then a guy who looked like one of the ugliest demons I know of and another boy with a humanoid dragon look stare at me, anyone would die."
The three of them rolled their eyes at each other and ran to Polschk's direction. They were on the other side of the stadium where Elliot's body was, the three unaware of the fact that their friend had already perished.
"Why is Lance acting like that though?" Connor asked. "I hope nothing bad happened to Elliot."
"I think Elliot was wounded pretty bad and fell unconscious," Ed muttered. "I bet he fainted because even how much damage that boy takes, he would still face any enemy in front of him."
"No, something is odd about how Lance is acting," Connor scrunched his face. "Look! There are tears in his eyes!"
"That would be because–"
Ed was cut off when they could finally hear Lance's screaming. "You killed him!"
The three stopped on their tracks after hearing what the prince said. "You killed Elliot, you torned up old trout!"
"H-He did what?!" Connor, Ed, and Hope yelled in chorus. A surge of deadly aura all came from them, flowing out like a raging river.
"We will kill you!"
–
"Sir, they're on rampage right now."
But a familiar cliff, a long-haired man sat, letting his hair flow through the wind. "Is it time?"
"The Twilight Bless hasn't been unlocked yet, sir," the woman who spoke replied. "But I'm sure Oracion Alma's High Priest will be done and we can infiltrate the forcefield."
"No worries," the man chuckled and stood. He tapped his body to get rid of the dirt and looked back at the woman. "We have our ways to enter. And change of plans.. It's time for us to show our true powers."
