Chapter 427 - Tragedy At The Mystic Falls
Seungju was a tall man with pale skin and pink hair. Perhaps the most distinctive feature of this man was his soothing aura that could even lull the giants to sleep.
Even when his presence was threatening, it still felt calm and serene. It was like a combination of a deadly raging river and a still crystal lake.
"My people needs help, as you can see," the man himself said. "I've been providing them food and shelter, an expanse of lands as far as their eyes can see. But it turns out, the problem is not their survival."
He paused for a moment, then his expression darkened, "It's the ones that hunt them."
"Why can't you just do something about it?" Elliot asked. "We saw what you did with the zombies. Can't you do that to DuDu and Licht too?"
"I am at the peak of Cultivation, and my powers are powerful enough to annihilate an entire city," Seungju sighed, "But child, I am now nothing but an astral projection. My body has long since turned to dust. The only reason I'm able to maintain this form is because of the Emerald Core."
"Err," Elliot scrunched his face. "Emerald what now?"
"Perhaps, you don't have any knowledge about the Crystal Cores?" Seungju asked. "They are the power stones bestowed upon us by the One Sun. It has limitless powers but they were stolen right before the wedding ceremonies started."
"Crystal Core," Elliot whispered. As if a light bulb lit up above his head, he turned to Lance. "Maybe the Crystal Cores are responsible for the crystalization of the maidens."
"Maidens?" Seungju asked. "What maiden are you talking about?"
"Your brides," Emperor Kang answered. "After the incident that happened to you, your brides turned to giant stones with different gem stones. The lore had been twisted from there, saying that the Maidens are your mothers."
"That's–" Seungju visibly cringed. "How pathetic was the history that was told. That's not what it happened. The maidens you are referring to are out brides. Our mothers have long since died, right after our death."
"Figures," Lance said. "The overwhelming powers of the Sun must've destroyed their bodies. So, what exactly happened?"
"I called it the Eclipse. Eons ago when I lost everything that I had," Seungju started. "When the Twelve Suns were covered with complete darkness."
It was thousands of years ago when it happened. When the date for the union of the Twelve Emperors of the East and their brides was set. Everyone was filled with excitement and glee, awaiting for the wedding.
They were set to be united at the Mystic Falls where the One Sun, the father of the Twelve Suns received the power of the Almighty. It was at that place when the miracle happened and he was able to became the most powerful figure of his time.
"Are you excited, brother?" Kang Seungju's sister, Kang Aeri, giggled. "Sana is a very beautiful woman. She's elegant and a complete copy of me."
Seungju ruffled his sister's hair while smiling. "She's the exact opposite of you, Aeri. I'm worried about the Maharlikan emperor since he's going to marry you."
"Oh, please," Sana grinned. "Balthazar will love me just fine. He understands me and I understand him. We're a perfect match."
"Whatever you say," Seungju chuckled. Their carriage was completely silent after their exchange of words, both siblings were hiding the fear that they have.
"We're almost there, sire," the coachman announced. "And it seems like all the other emperors are here too."
"Then, let us not delay," Seungju said. "To the Mystic Falls!"
The coachman excitedly driven the carriage into the direction of the Mystic Falls. They were on a dirt path in a forest filled with glowing mushrooms. It didn't take long for them to exit the forest and hear the gushing of water.
"We're finally here!" Aeri cheered. "Come on, brother. Let's go and get married!"
When the emperors and the brides were at the Mystic Falls, a sudden darkness loomed over the area. It happened so quickly that no one among the hundreds of people knew what had happened.
It was a blink of an eye when the venue was filled with joy and happiness, shifted into a rain of red. Blood was all over the place, the brides were missing and only one among the Twelve Suns were left.
The once magnificent and breathtaking view of the Mystic Falls, the beautiful colored trees, and the glowing mushrooms. All of those are gone in just a split second.
Whoever was responsible for this disaster must be a person with strong prowess. They could annihilate masters of magic and rulers of kingdoms without breaking a sweat.
In the middle of this catastrophe eas Kang Seungju himself, the Son of Emerald. With wide shaking eyes and trembling body, he walked over the corpse of his kin. He was covered with blood and his injuries were too severe.
"Blargh!" Kang Seungju puked blood. He clutched his stomach in pain, feeling the piercing wound through his skin and flesh. "Aeri? Sana?"
The man spent minutes calling out names. It didn't take long for crows to crowd over the dead bodies, peeking their beaks at the corpses while Kang Seungju watched.
"Sana," he whispered, continuing his walk even when he could barely feel his body. "Aeri."
The pink haired man walked aimlessly. The crows had already filled the land, and all he could do was watch. He had almost lost all hope when something whispered in his ear.
"Child."
The voice spoke ever so softly. Kang Seungju looked around to see where the voice came from, seeing nothing but an old book hovering in the air in front of him.
"Come here, child."
Kang Seungju did as was told. He took a few steps towards the book until he was right in under it.
"Create, child."
Kang Seungju puked blood again. He was almost losing it. "Who are you?"
"Touch me and receive my power," the voice spoke once more. "If you do, you'll receive overwhelming powers and you'll live to see the day where your bride will awaken once more."
"Bride…" Kang Seungju whispered. The word lingered in his lips as he was slowly feeling his consciousness dwindling. "Kim Sana… I want to see her once more."
"You shall become my owner and you'll gain the title Creator," the book said. "If that happens, you can do anything your heart desires, even seeing your loved ones back. You'll have overwhelming power that will surpass anything. Even surpassing the One Sun himself."
"Overwhelming power." Kang Seungju had already fallen to his knees. His blood was barely in his body. His eyes were dropping and he was now at the edge of consciousness.
He knew he wouldn't last long, and he knew that he couldn't possibly survive this. Everyone that was dear to him was dead, so he had nothing to lose.
With what's left of his strength, Kang Seungju reached his hand out to the book. When his fingertips grazed the old leather cover, the book opened and it flopped through several pages.
'Congratulations! You are now the ONE SUN.'
