Chapter 160.1 The Incorrigible Zhu Yan (1/2)
Outside the Dragon Cultivation Town! In a valley!
The Snake King recovered from his injuries and followed Wang Ke’s scent all the way there. Unfortunately, his nose led him to the wrong place quite a few times since it wasn’t that sensitive. But eventually, he found his way.
"Sniff, sniff!"
"Dragon Qi scent, it must be Zhu Yan! I found him!" the Snake King cheered.
Although excited, the Snake King stood still as he looked at the town with narrowed eyes.
"That’s the Dragon Cultivation Town? This is where Dragon Qi emerges from the ground every ten years! If often tempted demonic beasts to venture out from the Miasmic Sea to get it. Alas, that is also the time when large numbers of disciples from all the immortal sects gather," the Snake King muttered to himself.
He would be immediately singled out and turned into their main target the moment he slithered into the town, considering his massive body.
Should I go?
Am I going to ignore the ley line dragon right in front of my eyes?
"I can’t give up on it! At most, I will make my escape right after I swallow Zhu Yan and the gold dragon inside his body. I will dig an escape tunnel if I can’t leave at ground level!" Determination and confidence flashed in the reptile’s eyes.
"Boooom!"
Followed by a loud rumbling, the Snake King dug into the ground again; he wanted to sneak into the town through the subterranean river.
———-
Dragon Cultivation Town, Wang Clan’s Manor! Inside the small courtyard where Zhu Yan lived—
Zhu Yan’s face was no longer filled with pimples; his usual look returned, but he was looking at Wang Ke in horror at the moment.
"Wang Ke, stay away from me!" Zhu Yan cried out nervously.
Wang Ke looked angry as he held a small bottle in his hand.
"Zhu Yan, you really think I want to be near you? Ahh? I was tending to my guests in the front hall, and everything was going so well! Damn you! Someone came to report that you were causing trouble again. Why can’t you stop disturbing my peace?" Wang Ke scolded him, feeling irritated.
"How did I disturb your peace? I just don’t want to use that cream again! It took me so long to force out the toxins with my essence energy, and now you are coming at me again?" Zhu Yan retorted angrily.
"Me? Again? Damn you! I must have had eight lives of bad luck to end up taking you in as my disciple. I brought you here to uphold my promise to Zhu Hongyi, and my job will be over when Zi Bufan comes to take the gold dragon away. But why are you always stirring trouble? Why can’t you just stay put? I give you the best food and drink, and you only have to stay here to cultivate in seclusion. Can you please do that? The Dragon Gate Assembly is starting in less than two months; Zi Bufan will come and extract the gold dragon by then. You can do whatever you want after that. Okay?" Wang Ke said in frustration.
Still, Zhu Yan talked back angrily, "What makes you think I want to stay here? Besides, I’m not going to apply your cream again! It’ll cover my face with pimples again! I’ve already been forcing out the toxins for some months, and now you want to destroy my face again? Dream on!" Zhu Yan retorted angrily.
"You know nothing! The gold dragon is sealed inside your body! Do you think only people who were in the capital know about this? As of now, both the righteous and the demonic factions are in the know. Many have been asking me about you recently! You’ll be treated like a guinea pig once you step out of my gate! I’m giving you a disguise for your own good! You’re not going dating anyway! Why do you need a pretty face? Who are you going to show your smooth skin to?"
"Heh, Wang Ke, I’m not falling for your horse sh*t! You won’t fool me again! You just want to embarrass me. Humph, I won’t listen to you!" Zhu Yan said as he readied himself for battle.
And just when Wang Ke was about to continue—he heard a voice coming from somewhere behind him.
"Wang Ke, come and see me!"
Wang Ke was shocked by the message, and immediately started looking around.
"What are you looking for? Don’t tell me there’s a hidden mechanism in this room?" Zhu Yan was puzzled.
"Didn’t you hear that?" Wang Ke was surprised.
"Hear what? Don’t try to frighten me! I’m not afraid of ghosts!" Zhu Yan said in disdain.
Wang Ke was taken aback. Only I can hear that voice? ‘Wang Ke, come and see me?’"
"Tssss!" Wang Ke hissed between his teeth.
At once, Wang Ke shouted toward the door, "Coming! I’m coming!"
Zhu Yan looked at Wang Ke in shock. Coming? What do you mean by that?
Wang Ke placed the small bottle on the table and said, "Zhu Yan, I’m heading out to do something. I’ll be leaving this allergen bottle. Use it! I have urgent matters to attend to!"
After that, Wang Ke ran out.
He ran?
Zhu Yan’s face froze. What are you trying to do, leaving in a hurry?
He followed all the way to the door and ensured that Wang Ke left, but the latter did not even bid farewell to the guests at the front hall.
"Tch! What a crazy guy. You want me to destroy my own face? Dream on!" Zhu Yan smirked.
He simply ignored the bottle on the table, narrowing his eyes as he looked at Wang Ke’s subordinates.
I’m so freaking bored after being cooped up in the Wang Clan Manor all this time! You want to keep me holed in for months? And you want me to listen to you? Dream on! Your failure in following my ancestral uncle’s instructions is only an indicator of your incompetence! What has it got to do with me? Zhu Yan smirked.
While pondering, he carefully closed the door to his room and walked to the backyard. He looked up to see the courtyard walls and the mist hovering above, produced by a common array set to protect the property from burglars.
"If I jumped over the wall, would someone notice? Fortunately, I’ve already dug a tunnel during these past few months! How can a small courtyard trap me!" Zhu Yan muttered to himself proudly.
He then walked to a corner and removed a layer of grass, unveiling a man-sized hole, then entered the hole and quickly left the manor.
After that, he walked along the streets of the Dragon Cultivation Town.
"I really am bored out of my skull. Damn you, Wang Ke, you kept me hidden in your house for far too long! Even an ordinary person would be bored to death! You slathered my face with that cream to keep me covered with pimples! How could I go out to take a walk? My face is back to normal now; I can finally take a stroll! This feels so good! Haha!" Zhu Yan burst out laughing.
His monologue continued, "Trying to frighten me with the excuse of someone coming after my life… Nonsense! All lies! Wang Ke, who on the street would recognize me? And you claim that they would capture me for research? Come at me! Who dares? Show yourself!” Zhu Yan said in disdain.
And while he ambled proudly—
"Whoosh!"
Someone covered his head with a sack.
"What?" Zhu Yan was shocked.
But before he could retaliate—
"Baaaam!"
There seemed to be three people attacking him from three different places. He could sense that they tapped his forehead, core cradle, heart, and powerful essence energy rushed into his body.
"Oh no!" And that’s all Zhu Yan managed to say before he passed out.
Sometime later, he finally regained consciousness. Still feeling gorgy, he opened his eyes and realized what his situation was.
It was an unfamiliar courtyard with walls surrounded by mist; it looked like a spell array that obstructed anyone from looking inside. He was tied to a pole and his cultivation had been sealed.
He struggled for some time, eventually realizing his essence energy was blocked.
"This, this… Could this be Wang Ke’s doing?" Zhu Yan muttered to himself nervously.
Then, he saw a few silhouettes reporting to another man respectfully.
"Mo Sanshan?" Zhu Yan’s pupils contracted in shock.
