Chapter 81.1 The Hapless Snake King (1/2)
The haze on the Miasmic Sea was extremely dense!
Wang Ke and Zhu Yan wouldn’t have known where to go if not for the nautical map; their range of vision was awfully limited, even while the massive ship was sailing forth.
Wang Ke sat on the deck and shouted toward the helm, “Zhu Yan, don’t you try anything funny. The Miasmic Sea is full of monsters. It’ll be the end of you if you veer off-track and enter their territory. I could still fend for myself if needed, but you’ll surely end up as food in your current state. Focus on sailing the ship; our grudge will be cleared when we reach the shore!”
Zhu Yan was at the helm with a black face. He did think about sabotaging Wang Ke’s trip and going off-track, but Wang Ke’s words came as a stern warning for him.
I’m in such a terrible state now!I’ll be a goner if we encounter any monsters at sea.
“Don’t give me that look. I’m not the one who beat you up!” Wang Ke shot a stare at him from the deck.
Zhu Yan shivered in rage. Yes, you weren’t the one who beat me up, but you were the one who caused all these injuries!
Wang Ke ignored Zhu Yan. He closed his eyes and studied the grayed turbid essence Qi in his body.
Gray? It’s only one step from becoming black!
What should I do?
“I feel like I’m burning up. Why does this gray turbid essence Qi feel like boiling water flowing through my body! It’s so uncomfortable!” Wang Ke muttered to himself in frustration.
He channeled some turbid essence Qi into his palm as he spoke.
The greyish essence Qi looked as though spoiled.
“Chirk!”
Wang Ke lit a match and placed it near the turbid essence Qi.
“Fwoooosh~~~~~~~~~~!”
Next, the fist-sized ball of turbid essence Qi was turned into a massive fireball, instantly exploding like a firebomb. Fiery flames soared into the sky, and the bright light from the flame took Zhu Yan by surprise.
“What’s happening? What’s that fire spell? So powerful…” Zhu Yan muttered in shock.
“Turbid essence Qi progresses from gold to black, which also means it has become more powerful. The fire it produces is so much more powerful now!” Wang Ke muttered to himself in amazement.
More importantly, the turbid essence Qi had a long lasting effect; the flame burned for quite a while before it died off.
“No, this won’t do!” Wang Ke said to himself anxiously, “The flame is too powerful now. I’ll immediately turn into ash if my entire reservoir of turbid essence Qi is set on fire. Even If I can’t stop it from self-igniting, I need to reduce the amount stored. I need to empty the turbid essence Qi inside my body!”
Why empty my body off of it? Because there wouldn’t be anything to set fire to.
And that’s what Wang Ke did; he stretched out his hands and channeled all his turbid essence Qi.
“Rumble!”
A small grayish Qi ball appeared before Wang Ke, quickly growing from an egg size to that of an apple. It grew to the size of a watermelon a short while later… And then, to the size of a tub.
Wang Ke pushed his turbid essence Qi out from his body as much as he could.
While at the helm—Zhu Yan peeled his eyes, unable to understand what Wang Ke was doing.
The latter’s hands were above his head with a big gray ball on his hands.
What is Wang Ke doing? What’s with that move? Zhu Yan was at a loss.
The next moment, Wang Ke suddenly tossed the massive gray ball into the sea ahead of them.
“Get lost!” Wang Ke roared in excitement.
And the gray ball fell into the sea underneath the dense fog. A big grin appeared on Wang Ke’s face.
But a short while later—
“Booooooom~~~~~~~~~!”
There was a loud sound, and the ship seemed to have crashed into something, shaking violently.
“What’s going on?” Wang Ke asked in shock, “ Zhu Yan?”
“I, I don’t know. We must have crashed into the reefs!” Zhu Yan replied. He was equally confused.
“Reefs?” Wang Ke was astonished.
Right, what else can the ship crash into? We are at sea! It’s either glaciers or reefs!
Glaciers are definitely not the case, considering the weather, so it must be a reef.
But right before Wang Ke would nod and accept Zhu Yan’s suggestion—
“Whoosh!”
Something was falling from the sky, going straight for their ship.
Wang Ke became vigilant out of instinct. Of all times, someone chose to attack them when he had already tossed most of his turbid essence Qi?
Wang Ke looked up and took a clear look at the falling object, noticing that it was a watermelon-sized ball, transparent like glass.
“Crack!”
The transparent sphere landed on the deck, crashing to pieces!
“A glass ball? From the sky?” Wang Ke looked up to the sky, confused.
I threw out a ball of essence Qi… How did a glass ball fall from the sky?And it broke into pieces!
Wang Ke was baffled.
—————
One day prior, at the Divine Dragon Island’s northern shore!
The beach was not as empty as it was when Wang Ke got there; it was filled with venomous snakes. The snakes were biting each other ferociously; they looked extremely ruthless.
It was at that moment that a massive twelve-meter-long snake swam toward the beach. Such length was on par with the height of a four-story building. The smaller snakes gave way and opened up a path when the larger snake arrived. All of them showed their forked tongues while looking at the gigantic reptile.
“Attention, all snakes! Our King sent me here to issue orders. Our King’s cultivation has progressed. He will now absorb the natural essence Qi and go into isolated cultivation to break through the Astral Infant Stage. Not even human Astral Infants will be a match once he succeeds! The King’s order is this: From now on, block the sea territory around him in case other demonic beasts try to disrupt our King’s breakthrough. Whoever dares to step into our territory… kill, eat, and poison. Leave no one alive!” the giant snake roared.
“Kraak, krak!” The snakes responded in excitement.
Following the giant snake’s order, all the venomous snakes on the beach and the surrounding forest gathered and swam into the sea, spreading in all directions and creating a blockade around their territory. No one was allowed to enter.
Soon, the beach was emptied. That was why Wang Ke only saw snake eggs when he arrived.
The snakes locked down the surrounding sea. Even the incoming fish would be torn to pieces; it was all to protect their King’s breakthrough attempt.
The Snake King was a massive green snake thirty meters long, a length comparable to the height of a ten-story building. The horrifying, gigantic body could even be seen from afar.
Still, the Snake King knew that other creatures in the Miasmic Sea could threaten him. That was why he was extremely careful, not disclosing his exact location and going as far as ordering his subjects to lock down the surrounding area.
