Chapter 98.1 Is This Made Of Paper? (1/2)
Second day! Tie Liuyun went to look for Wang Ke early in the morning.
They then went to the West Wolf Hall together.
Tie Liuyun pointed to a great hall on a mountain peak some distance away and said, “The Heavenly Wolf Sect’s four Wolf Halls surround the central spiritual mountain. As the name states, West Wolf Hall is in the west! Look, there it is! But the West Wolf Hall is not well-received by everyone!”
Bai Jin was already waiting for them by then.
“Second senior apprentice-brother, Deputy Hall Lord Wang! Tong An’an is locked in the dungeon. Follow me!” Bai Jin said courteously.
The two nodded.
They didn’t ascend the West Wolf Hall’s mountain; instead they walked into a cave by the base of the mountain.
The cavern was lit up by luminous stones. Prison cells were separated, leaving some distance in between. Each prisoner was enveloped in black Qi; the prisoners screamed at the three of them like lunatics.
“These are…?” Wang Ke asked with a frown.
“Demons!” Bai Jin explained, “They are extremely vicious and ruthless demons; they have been imprisoned here for many years while not consuming a single human. That’s why their demonic craving drove them crazy; all they can think about is to devour humans!”
“They’re all insane?” Wang Ke was shocked to hear that.
“More or less!” Bai Jin answered.
“Demonic craving? That means that demons become lunatic if you imprison them while depriving them of human blood for long enough?” Wang Ke asked.
“That’s right; all they think about is devouring humans. But those that consumed human blood and committed an iniquity would slowly regain their consciousness!” Bai Jin explained.
“Then those…!”
“The demons that went crazy have been locked up for a few decades. We will discard them soon!” Bai Jin explained.
Wang Ke was a little suspicious about it but didn’t speak his mind.
“Where’s Tong An’an? He’s kept this deep inside the dungeon? We’ve been walking for such a long time, and we haven’t reached his cell yet?” Tie Liuyun asked, frowning.
“Tong An’an is a high-ranking demon in the demonic sect; that’s why we took him very seriously. We are almost there!” Bai Jin explained.
The three of them continued a while longer before hearing a muffled roar.
“Roar~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!”
The sound struck fear in all the caged demons; each of them curled up and shuddered.
“This is……?” Wang Ke was shocked by the roar.
He saw a pitch black chasm, seemingly bottomless; it was surrounded by railings. However, something was occasionally roaring down there. All the demons froze in fear just because of the roar?
“That’s the ultimate demon who is being suppressed under the spirit mountain. He’s not dead yet?” Tie Liuyun was surprised.
“The ultimate demon suppressed under the spirit mountain? I heard about that demon from my Revered Teacher. What kind of a demon is that? Why is there a need to suppress it? Isn’t it better to just kill him?” Wang Ke asked.
But Tie Liuyun shook his head and said, “I don’t know either. I heard from my Revered Teacher that this demon is extremely powerful and unkillable to boot!”
“How can that be! A demon that can’t be killed?” Wang Ke warily approached the edge of that pit.
“Junior brother, be careful. You can fall there and never make it out!” Tie Liuyun warned.
“Don’t worry. Isn’t it sealed by the spiritual mountain? It can’t come out!” Wang Ke smiled.
Tie Liuyun nodded. But Bai Jin stood far from the pit as though avoiding it.
“Senior apprentice-brother Bai, what are you doing? Why are you so frightened? The ultimate demon has been suppressed here for ages; it would have gotten out already if it could. Why are you trying to hide?” Wang Ke felt curious about Bai Jin’s behavior.
“It’s… It’s nothing. Let’s continue!” Bai Jin urged.
“Roar!”
Another roar came from the ultimate demon. All the demons locked in the mountain prison were shuddering in fear; none of them dared to make a sound, and Bai Jin started walking even faster.
“Bai Jin, is something wrong with you? Why are you afraid of the demon’s roars? He’s already being suppressed. What’s there to be afraid about?” Wang Ke asked, feeling odd.
“I don’t know either! Maybe he’s just timid!” Tie Liuyun said. He also felt that Bai Jin was acting strange.
Bai Jin continued to walk deeper into the cavern while Wang Ke and Tie Liuyun were wondering about his behavior.
Shortly after, they arrived at the place where Tong An’an was being imprisoned. A few Heavenly Wolf Sect disciples were guarding the place. Everyone was ready to draw their swords at any moment, as though worried that Tong An’an might escape.
Tong An’an was locked alone inside a prison cell without any chains. He sat down quietly, seemingly waiting for his execution.
“Something’s off! Second senior apprentice-brother, be careful!” Wang Ke shouted in alarm.
“Boooooom!”
Suddenly, a huge cage fell from above and trapped both of them.
Wang Ke was about to flee at that moment, but others slashed at him; he could not help but stay on the spot and activate his protective artifact. That was why he was trapped.
“Break!”
Tie Liuyun was also startled; he slashed at the cage. Unfortunately, the cage was also an enchanted artifact, which had formed a barrier that couldn’t be cut open.
He then shouted, “Bai Jin. What are you doing?”
“Second senior apprentice-brother, no use shouting! They are in league with Tong An’an!” Wang Ke explained in dismay.
He held onto the cage bars and glared at Tong An’an.
He knew they were in trouble the moment he saw Tong An’an. The latter’s clothes and hair were in good condition, plus he showed no sign of any injuries. That was not how someone would look after being interrogated. The West Wolf Hall didn’t interrogate Tong An’an even once.
“Bai Jin is on the demon’s side?” Tie Liuyun looked at Wang Ke in disbelief.
“Chapter Lord, I brought them here!” Bai Jin reported to Tong An’an respectfully.
The surrounding disciples of the West Wolf Hall were following Bai Jin’s orders; they pointed their weapons at Wang Ke and Tie Liuyun.
Tong An’an stood up inside the cell and said, “Well done!”
“Tong An’an? Bai Jin is your subordinate? He’s a demon too?” Wang Ke asked carefully.
“Hahahaha! That’s right. Did you really think Sun Song was the only demonic agent working undercover in the Heavenly Wolf Sect? Nope! We have more here! Wang Ke, you didn’t expect that, right? Hahahaha!” Tong An’an ambled out of his cell with a sinister smile.
“West Wolf Hall was infiltrated by the demons?” Tie Liuyun was aghast.
“Of course. How do you think you were captured back then?” Tong An’an laughed.
“Back then? When I was captured! I knew it! The path we took was extremely confidential. No one should have known about it except our fellow disciples. So, I was betrayed by the West Wolf Hall! No, no way! It’s been twenty years! How much of the Heavenly Wolf Sect’s information have you been leaking?” Tie Liuyun shouted indignantly.
“Second senior brother, you were captured twenty years ago?” Wang Ke asked, looking at Tie Liuyun.
