Chapter 31 - Not Budging
After leaving his father's room, Cedric went straight to his room to rest. He freshened up, lay down on his bed, and grabbed his mobile phone. He frowned after seeing that there were no missed calls or a single message from her.
He thought that Brione would try to contact him and nag or scold him for how he saved his name in the contact file sent to her by Manager Ruth.
"Did she save my number as it was or did she change it to something else?" he thought out loud. He was very curious to find out but it would be impossible to know unless he asks Brione.
"I miss her already," he whispered dreamily followed by a long sigh. He did not want her to think he was clingy so he tried his best to control himself from calling her.
Instead, he opened Brione's official insta feed to look at her since it was always updated with photos and videos of her. His face crumpled seeing the comments posted under her latest posts. It was a few pictures of her eating dinner with Berry and Mitch. Most were men commenting things he did not like to see or hear.
With anger evident on his face, he furiously typed a comment using the alternate account Will had created for him. Well, it would not be the first time for him to comment under her posts but this time his words were more aggressive.
He was smirking proudly as he tapped the reply button and it appeared in the comment section. Not even a minute had passed, but there were numerous replies to his comment. A lot of them were from fans who were furious with him, telling him that he was a fraud spreading fake news.
He typed his last reply saying, "My source is very reliable, just wait and see once it's announced to the world!"
The comments section went nuts with different opinions on what he posted but he felt like he achieved something after seeing that most of the male fans seemed to believe him and were heartbroken.
"Hah! Serves you all right! You must know that she is mine now so don't even dream about getting her!" he scoffed. After looking at a few more pictures he put aside his mobile phone and tried to sleep.
Who would have thought that he 'The Prince' could be this petty when it came to the woman he loved? He was still smiling with his eyes closed to sleep when his phone rang.
He moved quickly thinking it might be Brione but to his dismay, it was a call from Will.
"Yes?"
"The result is out, Your Highness. I have sent it to your private email," Will informed, from the other line. Cedric cut the call and checked the file sent to him. It was the result of the DNA test.
He sighed after he finished reading it before quickly deleting the file. It was how he expected it to be. The result showed 99% similarity which means that King Lucas is his father.
He sighed again before mumbling, "Should I show this to her to prove that I'm not Gavin? But what if she runs away from me thinking there is no reason to stay by my side anymore?"
Cedric was feeling distressed as he could not look past the fact that the only reason Brione was getting close to him was because she believed that he was Gavin.
"What are you going to do now Cedric?" he murmured in frustration.
*****
Back in Perdu Island, Brione along with Berry and Mitch were sitting on the balcony of her room discussing the changes that should be made in her profile when Berry exclaimed, "OMG! What is this?!"
Brione, who was studying a script, stopped what she was doing and stood up to look at the monitor of Berry's laptop.
"I heard that Brione Yu already has a boyfriend. For those of you doubting me, the news is from a reliable source. Apparently, he is someone handsome, wealthy, and of royal blood. She's already taken by someone she deserves so all of you perverts should back off." Mitch read the comment that Berry clicked, loud and clear.
Berry guffawed and said, "The username is so funny! 'Kiss Me Not'! Oh my gosh, is this the Prince's disguise to shoo away all men?"
"Stop it Berry! Don't you ever mention this in front of the Prince or you will be dead meat for spreading baseless rumors. Whether it's him or not, it's best for us to keep quiet," Mitch reminded her.
"Wow, there's absolutely no doubt it's him. No one even knows that we are in Perdu Island except for the staff in our team. Unless one of our staff members leaked the information there's no one else who could know about it. But since it was written in the agreement that we would have to pay a huge fine and go to jail if we break the contract, I doubt it was someone from our team.
My gut feeling, which by the way is never wrong, is telling me that this user is the possessive Prince trying to build a fence around you to stop others from coveting you since you are now his woman. Oh wait, did you already sign the contract? Can you let us see it?"
Brione sighed. Yes, she had already read the agreement Manager Ruth handed her but she did not sign it as she wanted to discuss all the clauses with Cedric first.
She smiled at Berry and said, "No. I will not allow anyone to read it so don't even dare try to sneak a glance at it or elseā¦"
"Fine, fine I won't! I promise." Berry said with a pout before leaning towards Mitch and whispering, "I bet she's shy as there might be some intimate things in the clause right?"
"I can still hear you, Berry," Brione said with a chuckle. She liked Berry a lot because she was someone who was honest and genuine to her. Berry would not hesitate to voice her opinions even if it was something that would not please her.
Brione liked people like Berry who would express what they felt without any inhibitions. Maybe this was why, deep inside, she was not that bothered with Cedric's shamelessness.
Deep down she liked that Cedric was aggressive and straightforward with what he felt and wanted to do. He was real and she could feel his sincerity towards her. She appreciated it as long as he would not step out of his boundaries like some of her male fans or those men who had indecent intentions for her.
She could still remember how annoyed she was with Gavin who would often open his mouth like he wanted to say something to her but would not dare to continue and would change the topic to distract her. It frustrated her so much that she wanted to open Gavin's head and read his mind to know what he really thinks inside.
There was that great difference and yet here she was, not budging from her belief that Cedric was Gavin.
