Chapter 153 Search For The Rare Stone (6)
The taste of the blood replenishing potion was different from what Kyran had anticipated. Because it had the deep red color like ‘blood,’ he initially thought it would taste slightly metallic. To his surprise, it tasted somewhat sour with a slight sweetness, like strawberries.
“Sit down and absorb the potion. In the meantime, allow me to examine your body’s energy flow,” Anette told him.
Kyran hesitated. He already knew Anette could see through his condition just by observing from afar. If he agreed to let her directly examine his body’s energy flow, he was afraid she would discover the internal injuries he got after dealing with the mutated Basilisks that morning. Kyran was not worried about her discovering his injuries. He was concerned about answering the questions that would definitely follow once she found his internal injuries. Because once he answered and told her about the mutated Basilisks, he would have to say to her about Cyneah.
Honestly, he had not decided whether to tell anyone about her because he planned to let Byron deal with her.
Anette did not plan to force Kyran in letting her examine him. As an alchemist, and a doctor, saving another life was important, but she would never impose or force a treatment if the person involved were unwilling. Anette would respect their decision. Though she only wanted to examine Kyran’s energy flow, it actually involved looking at his magic which was a very delicate matter to a mage.
Seeing that Anette did not force him and was still patiently waiting for his response, Kyran eventually agreed and sat crossed-legged on the floor. There was no harm in letting her examine his body’s energy flow. She already knew about his magic anyway. If she found his internal injuries and asked about them, he would have to act like he did not want to answer.
Kyran closed his eyes. He let the blood replenishing potion enter his system and absorbed it with the help of his Regis’s innate ability.
Anette also sat crossed-legged behind Kyran while placing both hands on his back. She closed her eyes and used her magic sense to feel the flow of energy within his body.
‘Hm?’ Anette’s brows creased as she felt the flow of energy within Kyran.
Typically, a person would only have two types of energy in the body: life energy and the person’s magic energy.
Kyran, however, had multiple energies circulating inside his body. Aside from this, two dominant energies intermingle with his life energy as if they were the same.
‘This…’ Anette opened her eyes and looked at Kyran’s back.
Her eyes glowed green as she observed his body further and immediately saw his internal injuries. And from within these injuries, multiple energies were seething out.
A soft hiss escaped her lips as she saw at least six types of magic energies circulating inside him. The two dominant energies were purple and silver, while the other four were dark green, green, light gold, and red. The color of the last four energies was faint and Anette, being an expert in seeing these energies, knew they were not life energies but magic energies.
‘How is this possible?’ She thought in disbelief.
A mage would only have one magic energy inside them. If they did have another magic energy, the max would be three. The reason for that was the mage practised three different magic. However, one of these three would always be a dominant one. Another case of having two magic energies circulating within their body was due to the mage being cursed or affected by a magic-related wound. Kyran’s magic energies, on the other hand, did not look like he was hit by a curse or was wounded by magic. Meaning the possibility of him practising more than one magic was the only reason for this.
But, to have six types of magic energies? That was unheard of. Besides, his magic was the Void. Anette was no expert, but a mage with powerful magic would have trouble summoning another type of magic as far as she knew. Aside from this, Kyran’s magic energies did not come from the surrounding energies but his life energy.
Theoretically, this would endanger a person’s life. But Kyran did not appear to be affected because his magic was tied to his life energy.
‘The instability of these energies is also due to his life energy not being accustomed to the new energies. It’s as if these four energies have been added recently, and his life energy is getting to know it,’ Anette thought in amazement.
Taking a deep breath, she sorted her thoughts and made a mental note of these energies. The colors of these energies were easy enough for her to deduce what type of magic it was. She contemplated whether to ask Kyran where he got his internal injuries and if he was aware of the different ‘magic energies’ inside his body.
After a few seconds, Anette rejected the thought.
She was not familiar with Kyran’s mood yet. Although his temperament reminded her of Cade or sometimes Rin, Kyran would still have his own temper. Knowing how much he valued his responsibility and time, Anette had a feeling that if she brought up any topic that would incite a discussion, he would definitely close himself off.
Finally, Anette decided to observe for now and keep an eye on his condition instead.
With that in mind, Anette took a deep breath and said, “Silas mentioned that there is no information about the rare stone’s location inside the ruins.”
Hearing Anette’s words, Kyran was caught off guard. He did not expect her to discuss the rare stone suddenly. He was not complaining. At least he did not have to act like an ass by ignoring her when she asked him about his injuries.
“Yes,” Kyran answered after a short pause.
“Do you know what it looks like?”
“I do. The Conclave gave me an image taken from the brochure given out by the Templar Code during an auction.”
Anette nodded, “Let me have a look later.”
“Okay.”
“You said the rare stones can store and absorb energies. What kind of energies are they?” She asked.
Her question was not a random thought. If the rare stones could absorb a specific kind of energy, with her ability, it would be easy for her to identify the energies in the surroundings and confirm if there was a rare stone nearby. Because all stones, regardless of source or type, could attract energies from the surroundings that correspond to their attribute. For example, a red spirit stone would attract magic energy in the surrounding that corresponded to fire or any magic that responds to red energy.
Kyran shook his head and replied, “Nothing specific. Any energy in the surrounding will do. As long as it does not exceed four energy types.”
Anette frowned slightly. It was her first time hearing about a stone that could store so many types of energy.
“In this case, we’ll have to observe the activity of the surrounding energies in the ruins. If we found at least four active energies, then we may be able to pinpoint the location of the stones,” Anette said.
“Is it that simple? To locate the rare stone by observing the surrounding energy’s activity?” Kyran asked, sounding doubtful.
His doubt was reasonable. After all, not everyone could fully perceive the energy in the surroundings. At most, a mage could perceive the energy that corresponds to his innate magic using their magic sense.
While Kyran could feel the energy in the surroundings, he had no idea what type of energy it was, and he only assumed it was the ‘void’ because it responds to his magic.π°πππ¬πππ’xt.πΈππ
“And, actually, I won’t be of help in observing the surrounding energies,” he added, feeling a little remorseful.
“Oh?” Anette raised her brows. “Why is that?”
Feeling that the potion’s effect mainly had entered his system, Kyran opened his eyes. Without looking at Anette, he smiled bitterly and answered, “I don’t know how to use magic sense.”
Anette chuckled.
“I’m not surprised,” she replied.
Hearing her reply, Kyran turned his body to look at her.
“You’re not? Why?” He asked.
“To learn the use of magic sense, one must have a connection in the surrounding energies,” Anette replied. “However, you don’t have that connection.”
Kyran was slightly confused.
“Is it bad? Is it hard to connect with the surrounding energies?”
“No, it is not bad. As for your second question, also no, it’s not hard. I can teach you how, but it may take a while.”
Kyran pondered for a few seconds before shaking his head, rejecting the idea.
“Forget it. Teach me after we collect the stone,” Kyran decided and stood up.
Anette smiled and stood up as well. She already expected his response and did not insist on it.
“I’ll have to trouble you in observing the energies in the ruins,” Kyran said, looking at Anette with an apologetic expression.
Although she was supposed to be his ‘godmother’, they only met. He knew nothing about her, yet he was already imposing on her.
Anette shook her head and smiled, “No need to be formal. To be honest, I want to help you finish what you have to do with the Conclave.”
“Thank you.”
“Shall we?”
Kyran nodded. He took out the scroll from his coat pocket and handed it to Anette.
Before she opened the scroll, Anette looked at the door to the cottage. She had a thoughtful look on her face, but eventually, she shook her head and said, “No need to tell them. It’s not as if they are not aware where we are going.”
Kyran could not help but agree to her words.
