Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 359 Opening Event (5)

Vaness was the first one to react, he heaved a disgruntled sigh and leaned back on the long sofa.

“It is also what we have thought of,” he admitted.

Kyran nodded, “There is nothing much we can do. But I admit, with the Three Noble Families joining in the Solo and Team events, the Conclave members will get exhausted, even before facing the Royal Army. Especially at the latter end of the program where the Alchemy, Array Creation, Solo and Team Competition are all packed together.”

They all nodded in agreement.πš—π‘Άπ’±π‘’π—…π—‡π—²xt.𝗰𝑂𝓢

“Although the same holds true with the Royal Army, whose to say the Three Noble Families will take their matches seriously against them?” Kyran added.

This made them fall silent. They also thought of this.

Of course, for appearance’s sake, they would not brazenly forfeit the match. But they would limit their magic consumption and would not exert too much energy.

They did not have any concern about the Royal Army forfeiting, though. After all, in order for the Crown Princess to succeed in controlling someone, her target must be in a somewhat vulnerable state.

“Avrum and I made sure to concoct extra potions and pills, but I think it is not enough. I also don’t advise our people to take high-grade potions and pills too much. Though it will not really affect their health, if they take such medicines at a daily basis, the effects of the medicine will lessen,” Malia voiced her concern.

Another silence fell on the room.

Kyran, who remained standing at the far end of the table, also fell in contemplation.

During times like this, Cyneah always came to mind.

If they had someone like her who had a huge healing range, even if she get exhausted, she was the only one who needed to take high-grade potions.

And well… based on Anette’s assessment, Cyneah’s body had a strange affinity with medicines. The more she drank or take one, the more her body develops. Even if it stopped developing, the only effect it would have on her was, making her look more…

Kyran suddenly cleared his throat.

His train of thought was getting off track.

In any case, Kyran was only thinking this. He would never expose Cyneah to possible danger. Besides, he had another way, but doing so would reveal more of what he could do.

With a sigh of resignation, Kyran looked at them and said, “I know a Transcendent-tier array that focuses on wide-range healing. It requires materials that are… well…” He hesitated for a second before continuing, “… hard to find, but I still have some, enough to make a seven-meter array.”

In the end, he was still hesitant to talk about other planes. In truth, there was a flow about not telling others about what one experienced in the Tower of Tribulation.

Kyran realized that they could talk about some information they learned on the planes they went to, as long as they did not mention how they got there or say anything about the Tower of Tribulation.

Nevertheless, he felt it was too risky to mention where he got the materials.

It was fortunate that the Noir and the rest were sensible enough not to ask further.

At least, that was how Kyran believed since none of them had said anything.

The truth, the four had not said anything because they were too speechless.

Calla, Malia and Vaness might not be Array Specialists but they still knew a few things regarding its level and such. Not once had they heard of a Transcendent-tier array. And as they glanced furtively at Noir, who had an awkward placid expression, it seemed he was the same.

“I suggest setting it up either in Master Noir’s room or Chairman Malia, at least, even if the Royal Family or the Courtenay Family noticed it, we can tell them it is to help the member’s recuperate, which was technically true.”

“Then… let us go with that,” Noir answered after a short pause. He then looked at Malia and said, “Though I suggest to have the array in Malia’s area. I am afraid my defensive array might affect it.”

His suggestion was of course reasonable. Because it was not advisable to make an entirely different array in the same spot.

One could only adjust the main array and add new array formulas targeting specific locations in the array’s area of effect.

“It shouldn’t be a problem even if I set it up here,” Kyran said, “But, true, it is better to create it in Chairman Malia’s place since she also have carry the medicines. Might as well have all recuperating and such in one place.”

They all nodded in agreement, apparently, none of them understood or even noticed what Kyran meant with the statement ‘shouldn’t be a problem.’

“Then, if there is nothing else, let’s relay the information to the rest,” Vaness said.

“I’ll have to excuse myself and meet with our mercenaries,” Callan suddenly said as he stood with a bitter smile. “I am sure they will not be happy with the changes.”

Kyran looked at him and said, “Do you need my help to convince them President Callan?”

Callan turned to him and shook his head, “Oh, that is fine. You don’t really have toβ€”.”

He stopped abruptly after remembering that ‘Tyr’ was also a member of the Mercenary Hall.

Seeing Callan’s expression, Kyran could not help but smile wryly, “I don’t think the rest of the mercenaries are also aware that I am also representing the Mercenary Hall.”

Callan sighed, “I admit most of our elite mercenaries do not think you are qualified to be part of their team. They think your accomplishment as a mercenary is lacking.”

Kyran chuckled, “Let them think whatever. I’ll just show them whether I am qualified or not.”

Callan looked at him with a wry smile, “I suppose action speaks louder than words.”

The rest of the council members chuckled.

They were already familiar with Kyran’s confidence. Whether he was acting this way as Tyr or not, did not matter. Since he could back his words either way.

“There is no need for you to join the briefing,” Callan told Kyran as he made his way to the door. “I can just tell them Chairman Noir required you to attend the Blacksmith Order’s briefing.”

“Alright,” Kyran nodded.

“Ah, but…” Callan paused midway through opening the door. He looked back at Kyran and asked, “The arrangement of the Solo Competition… would you prefer to go last?”

A mischievous smile tugged at the corner of Kyran’s lips and he answered, “Its against the Lumley Family, right?”

His smile turned into a devilish grin as his eyes glinted, “I’ll go first. I believe its best to set the mood at the start of the competition.”

Malia, Noir and Vaness all shook their head but could only smile hopelessly at him.

Callan on the other hand raised his brows with a wry smile.

“Very well. I suppose the rest of the mercenaries participating in Solo Competition will not really object. After all, this is also another way for them to assess your strength.”

Kyran replied with a small nod.

The truth, he did not think the mercenaries were really against him. If they were, they would have already shown hostility toward him while the Conclave council members were not looking when they were on their way to their quarters. They were somewhat reserved around him, but that did not mean they bear any ill-intent.

They were mercenaries and they took pride in becoming an elite after accepting difficult bounties and requests and then succeeding. Having a person like ‘Tyr’ who was only written off as an elite but had too few noteworthy accomplishments as a mercenary was like a blow to their pride.

Still, there were many secret bounties and requests so they would not openly show any hostility. Besides, acting hostile to a fellow mercenary for such a thing was too childish. They would rather observe and confirm his strength with their own eyes than ostracize him.

They were not like those pampered young masters or young mistresses from a noble family, who went into a tantrum when they see a commoner with better talents than them, like a certain young master from a well-known noble family.

Kyran turned to look at the remaining council members and said, “I’ll also take my leave. I have to check the place.”

“We can also help look around,” Noir offered.

Kyran shook his head, “There is no need. Please go ahead and brief your members.”

Without waiting for their reply, he turned toward the door.

“By the way,” Kyran pause and looked back at them, “Thank you for giving my puppets identities at such short notice. Please make full use of them.”

He did not tell them that the puppets were still in a trial phase and the joint military exercise was a good way to test their capabilities.

Vaness chuckled at his words. He was probably the only one who understood the hidden meaning behind his words and nodded, “I hope you get the results you want.”

Kyran looked at him with raised brows in surprise. With a low chuckle, he nodded at them one last time before leaving.
