Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 530 Blitz: Raid (2)

Kyran turned to look at the eight people behind him. Five of them had Fire Sprites sitting on their shoulders.

‘You guys know what to do,’ he communicated to them telepathically.

The five with Fire Sprites, nodded and took out scrolls.

These scrolls are called, Coordinate-based Transmission scroll that Kyran recently created. The concept is similar with the Regis’s transmission scroll, but instead of using one’s memory for the target destination, a coordinate is required. Another change that Kyran did to the scroll’s creation is the use of the Regis blood. After removing this problematic requirement, as long as he have the materials, them he can make more of them.

After creating several scrolls, Kyran asked Slith to deliver a few to Styx.

Kyran gave Styx, Dante and a few mercenaries a task to covertly destroyed every warehouse the army had in the empire. He had Owen and Hamish with them to create transportation arrays in order to lessen the time they needed to travel through cities.

But now that the army were aware Kyran had not only been hiding all this time, they would definitely investigate every factions who had transactions with his family in the past. Although the Montgomeray Family had been in disguise, the fact that there were Spirits with them, it would not be hard for the army to narrow down who they were.

With this in mind, Kyran had found a way to ensure Styx and his squad complete their task as soon as possible. If they took care of the army’s resources, it would definitely be a huge blow on them and reinforcements would slow down. Thus, he created the scrolls with the last bit of resources he had left.

The remaining few, Kyran would use in dealing another blow to the army close to them. If not for the fact that he did not want Gael to know that he had already returned, he would have went by himself and wreck havoc. Apart from this, he wanted to avoid hurting civilians. So until he was 100% sure there were no civilians around, he would not act recklessly.

Who would have thought that by letting three Spirits stealthily enter the army’s temporary camp in Tracomill, and had them find Gael, he would discover the general situation of the army?

Now that Kyran knew Gael had not heard of Lira’s action, and about the Emperor and Mannick, he started to devise a new plan.

Kyran had to buy more time for his father. He also needed to get back to the Regis Estate and reinforce its barrier before Nolan and Ruin destroyed it from their battle. Because of this, Kyran could not let Gael or the whole army know about what happened between Euan and Lira. If they did and the whole army in every part of the empire mobilizes, Kyran would not be able to handle the army’s assault on different sides.

Being unable to create more puppets or even create his own essence had always been a sore spot for Kyran. Because of it, he could only do so much. Although there were now people he could trust to handle the army’s assault, their strength was outnumbered. Even if Styx and his squad succeeded in destroying the army’s warehouses, it would only delay their response time but not the army’s number.

Unless, of course, Kyran had Styx and his squad assassinate the army leaders. Unfortunately, the latter was impossible given their mage level disadvantage. Besides, Styx’s and Dante’s magic and abilities were not compatible for assassination.

In any case, since Gael and the army was not aware of Lira’s action, Kyran could let Euan and Mannick return. But that was still his musing. After all, Kyran did not know if the noble families supporting the Crown Princess, like the Boyd Family, had already made their move.

For now, Kyran had to connect to the army’s channel.

While Mannick could do it himself, due to his special status in the Human plane, he could not meddle anymore. Lira’s action was caused by his meddling, if he let Kyran connect to the army’s channel through him, who knew what kind of butterfly effect such action would result.

Kyran looked at the five Sprites and reminded them, ‘You guys only had three minutes. Don’t play around and return after you are done.’

The sprites giggled while beaming at Kyran and replied with a playful salute, ‘Yes, Void Master.’

Their coltish response worried Kyran. Most Sprites under Slith were one of the best Fire Sprites, however, unlike her, who had lived longer and had already matured, these Sprites were still young. They were at most, only a hundred years old and their playful nature was still evident.

‘I’ll give you guys a treat when you get back. Go,’ Kyran added, recalling Slith’s advise on how to handle them if he found them too ‘happy.’

The moment they heard him say the word ‘treat,’ like a magic word, their attitude change somehow. Although they were still acting coltish, they had a determined look in their round glowing red eyes, ‘Alrighty~.’

The Montgomeray family members, who were aware of the nature of their sprites could not help but smile apologetically to Kyran.

Without further ado, the Sprites roused their magic and sprinkled reddish-gold dust around the five members. Soon after, their bodies turned invisible. The five Sprites follow suit, and the five members used the scrolls on their hands to go to their assigned locations.

When the five had left, Kyran looked at the remaining three as they took out the Glamour Potion Anette had concocted. Because their innate magic were Fire or Wind, their transformation spell was unstable, unlike those with Earth innate magic. Apart from this, there was a good chance that they others would detect their disguise, thus it was better for them to drink a potion to change their feature.

‘You have half an hour at most, I’ll come back for you after then.’

Since the three did not know how to respond telepathically, they could only nod in response. After which, they took the potion and their appearance changed almost in an instant.

After confirming the potion was in full effect, Kyran wore his mask and also changed his image. This time he used a random setting.

‘Let’s go.’

Without waiting for the three to reply, he warped, taking them all inside Tracomill.𝗇𝑂𝓥𝗲𝒍𝑵𝑒xt.𝗰𝗈𝗆

If Gael knew that the barrier was useless to the Spirits and Kyran, he might have already flipped in anger. Alas, his men did not know any formula that could keep Spirits away, not to mention, they did not know how to counter warp abilities. The latter was understandable, after all, there were close to nil information about Void magic.

Since Kyran could not warp into a place he had not been before, he could only warp them in an inconspicuous spot behind a storeroom he had seen when he was scouting the area a few minutes earlier.

After that, they stealthily made their way to one of the small makeshift tent Kyran found who housed six soldiers. The soldiers inside the tent were sleeping. However, as someone who graduated in military school, Kyran knew that these soldiers were not deep asleep. They would definitely wake up if they sensed danger or even heard noise.

Thus, before going inside, Kyran placed his palm on the ground and roused his magic. Soon, light purple dusts circulated inside the tent. The dusts converged on each of the soldiers’ forehead and turned into the Void rune, Sleep.

The rune penetrate their foreheads, sending all of them into deep slumber. Snores could then be heard inside, after a few seconds.

Kyran led the three inside the tent and had them take the soldiers’ clothes. Because they could not find an intact uniform among the army’s dead in the Noser’s battlefield, they could only get ones now.

As to why Kyran did not outright kill the six soldiers, it was because there were a few soldiers scouting the area and checking the tent every now and then. He still needed half an hour or so to do what they came here for and did not want to alert them unnecessarily.

After the four of them had changed into the army’s uniform, they made their way to the plaza and into a tall building where the communication tower of the town was located.

Based on what they heard from the meeting, they were integrating the mobile tower they salvaged from the sneak attack into the town’s tower. The task of the three Montgomeray memebrs with Kyran was to tap into the army’s channel and establish a hidden route toward Kyran’s personal communication device.

Although Kyran could do it himself, since he already knew the structure of the tower, which was also based on the magic detector towers in the cities, he did not want to take a risk especially when Gael’s magic influence was all over the plaza.

If Kyran roused his magic, Gael would definitely sense it.

The three Montgomeray members entered the tent and introduced themselves as additional helpers. Probably because of the workload, none of them questioned them further and let them in.

After confirming there was no danger inside, Kyran also left.

Initially, he was only meant to wait for them to complete their task before making a move. But since he overheard Gael and the others’ meeting, he obviously had to come and find what he was up to.

It did not take long for Kyran to find where Gael and the abled soldiers had gathered. With fluid movements, he easily entered and fell in line.

Soon after, Gael stood in a small podium ahead and addressed all of them.
