Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 567 Gathering (3)

During the memory extraction, Kyran was not idle. He silently observed from the side while taking note of Ingrid’s reaction to each person Raya would perform the extraction.

Kyran knew that Ingrid went through intense training to control her emotions, which was why he asked Myst to ‘torture’ her with his magic. In an exhausted state, cracks would appear on a person’s facade. No matter how much they try to hide their emotions. Such was human nature. But on an off chance that there was such a person, and Ingrid could be that one, Kyran also judged the magic energy fluctuation around her to determine her mood.

When Raya extracted the memory of the woman Kyran pointed at, there was a slight change in her complexion, and the magic energy fluctuation around her lowered. Her reaction was a tell-tale sign that she had a good relationship with the woman.

Kyran then recalled the members of the Royal Army that participated in the Joint Military Exercise and recalled the woman was also listed there. The woman was supposed to participate in the Field Operation.

The woman’s inclusion in that competition meant Ingrid considered her a trustworthy aide. After all, Kyran knew that the Royal Army and the Lumley Family planned to do something during that competition. But because of Kyran’s ‘rampage,’ their plans were ruined.

With the woman’s relationship with Ingrid in mind, Kyran felt that she likely knew where Neo was being held.

As a matter of fact, Kyran’s guess was on point. Ingrid was shocked at how the latter managed to guess the correct location. Now, she was in a dilemma about whether to speak up. Because if she reacted, it was almost equivalent to admitting the truth. But if she did not react, they would still go there.

While Ingrid was contemplating her next move, the young man already spoke.

“Take them back,” Kyran told Myst and Raya without looking at them. “Grandfather will know what to do. Be back in five minutes.”

“Yes, young master.”

Ingrid panicked, although it did not show in her expression. Before she could say anything, the floor suddenly lit up with a purple light.

Seeing the light made Ingrid recall something the Crown Princess warned them of. She said:

“If you see a purple light, try to avoid it. It may be his doing.”

Ingrid gasped as she looked at the young man in shock.

The two men called him ‘young master.’ He also spoke of a ‘grandfather.’ Did this not mean that the young man’s identity was…?

“You are–!”

Before Ingrid could even finish what she was about to say, she disappeared with the rest of the Boyd members, with Myst and Raya accompanying them.𝓝𝗈𝑣𝓮𝗅𝑵𝑒xt.𝓒𝗈𝚖

Once they were gone, Kyran looked at the messed-up hall and sighed. To be honest, if he had to choose between facing Ingrid or Imman, he would choose the latter. In Kyran’s opinion, an ambitious person was easier to deal with.

There were two types of people that Kyran hated dealing with, an observant person with a twisted sense of justice and a diligent one with a twisted personality. Basically, he disliked dealing with people associated with any type of ‘twisted.’

A good example of the former type was Ingrid, while the latter was Ruin.

Kyran was sure Ingrid had realized his identity. Although the way Myst and Raya called him young master was already a big giveaway, plenty among the Regis Family were referred to as young master, too. Most of them were Kyran’s second to fourth male cousins.

In any case, since Kyran showed his ‘warping’ ability, he was not really worried about exposing his identity. As long as they stayed where he could see them, it was fine.

Heaving another sigh, Kyran pushed aside his thoughts and began cleaning up the hall.

Once Myst and Raya returned, they would then meet the Lumley Family. Since Ingrid rounded them up to be killed, Kyran did not mind doing it for them. The Boyd Ancestor or Haylee likely ordered their death; if they discovered they were still alive, they would know something happened to Ingrid.

Of course, unlike Ingrid, who likely did not plan on negotiating with the Lumley for their lives, Kyran was different. He did not mind sparing their lives if they agreed to put aside their grievances and swore allegiance to his clan. Besides, with Matias and Tobias dead, Kyran no longer held a grudge against them.

Now that he thought of it, he never really held a grudge. Frankly, he only wanted to fight Tobias in a real battle because he was interested in his Gravity magic.

It was a pity Tobias died in Neo’s hands. Then again, if he was killed easily by a puppet, then it was no longer worth battling him. Besides, there was another mage with Gravity magic who was far more competent in combat than him; Myst.

Kyran could ask Myst for a spar and then study Gravity magic all he wanted.

If Myst knew that he became Kyran’s new spar target, he would likely tremble in fear. After all, the latter’s improvement was too exaggerated, and no longer the young master they feared would be bullied by others.

For short, Kyran was now the bully.

Five minutes later, Myst and Raya returned. With the cleaning of the Lumley Ancestral Hall completed, the three immediately went to where the rest of the Lumley Family members were gathered.

It took Olivia some time to find the place indicated in the letter. At first, she was hesitant to go since Lauren had already said no one showed up when she went there. But then Olivia thought that maybe the person who sent the letter did not show up because it was not her who had arrived.

Such a response was something the young man her essence met would have done.

With that in mind, Olivia read the letter again to confirm the location.

However, the moment she inserted her magic energy into the orb, she was surprised at how the content changed. It seemed the orb itself had a defence mechanism wherein, if a person, apart from the one who the information in the orb was intended for, read through its content, it would show different information.

After checking the new content, Olivia changed course.

Olivia’s carriage stopped outside a dilapidated mansion in an abandoned town north of Meliora called Autumn Reach.

Contrary to its name, the town was far from having an ‘autumn’ feel because it was still within the northern region of the empire that only experienced one season year-round; winter.

In any case, the town used to be a well-known place because it might be called a town, but it was actually a private property of an old tyrant a few hundred years ago. The old tyrant did not have any noble blood in him, but the wealth he amassed could be said to not pale in comparison to a few noble families.

Nevertheless, when the old tyrant died, his servants plundered his wealth and left the town in ruins.

The old tyrant’s outcome was not really surprising because he did not have any heir to pass on his wealth, nor did he have blood relatives to take over his possession. He was so obsessed with his money that he never married or had a child. He believed that these things would only make him lose his fortune.

Unfortunately, he failed to see that even if he amassed such wealth, he could not bring it to his grave. He did try, but his servants took everything themselves.

Still, there were rumors that the old tyrant had an illegitimate child, which the servant who had plundered most of his wealth knew. It was even rumored that the servant did not take the old tyrant’s wealth for herself but gave it to that illegitimate child. After all, that child could be considered the old tyrant’s only heir.

The rumor was never confirmed.

Looking at the mansion from the outside, one would really believe that it was abandoned for hundreds of years. However, Olivia disagreed. Because she could sense a rich magic energy source and vitality inside the mansion.

Whether the three female mages with her also noticed it, Olivia did not know.

“Wait here for me,” Olivia told the three female mages.

The leading mage frowned slightly and protested, “But Lady Olivia.”

“I will meet that person alone. If anything happens, alert Lauren’s people following us,” Olivia told them. She snorted in disdain, thinking about Lauren keeping an eye on her like a child.

“At the very least, please take one of us with you,” one of them pleaded.

Olivia shook her head and opened the carriage’s door, “No. Since the person who sent the letter wants to meet me alone, I will meet that person alone.”

Olivia alighted the carriage and walked toward the mansion’s rusted gates without waiting for the three mages to continue their protest.

As soon as Olivia touched the mansion’s rusty gates, she sensed a large-area array formation activate. Initially, she wanted to destroy the array. But after confirming that the array’s level was not something an Array Specialist who had not entered the Tower of Tribulation could make, she no longer bothered.

If the person waiting for her inside the mansion were really that young man, then even if her Array attainment were high, she would never be able to counter it, much less decipher it. After all, that person easily dealt with the array formation her essence created in the platform.

Olivia took a deep breath and pushed open the rusty gates. Then she made her way to the mansion’s entrance.
