Chapter 661 Special Ops (6)
When the explosion at the Lumley Ancestral Hall occurred, a similar thing happened in the Tower of Conclave. However, the one in the Tower of Conclave was a succession of explosions instead of a single one.
Kyran, who was still a few hundred meters from Osric and his people, was stunned at the explosion. Not only did he not sense it coming, but it also seemed to have occurred right outside his magic sense’s range.
Osric smiled widely upon hearing the explosions and instantly released the full force of his magic pressure.
When Osric’s magic pressure erupted, Kyran felt the influence of his magic sense starts to fluctuate.
Only then did Kyran realize how much Osric had held back his strength when fighting him earlier. After all, Kyran’s magic sense had already attained the highest level it could reach. No one would have the ability to affect it.
Magic sense was different from magic pressure. The former could be achieved through a mage’s own understanding of his or her magic, as well as his or her ability to manipulate the surrounding magic energies. In contrast, the latter was simply a mage releasing the full force of his or her innate magic, which also depended on his or her mage level.
Osric’s magic pressure affecting Kyran’s magic sense meant the force of the former’s magic might be stronger than the latter’s ability to manipulate the magic energies in the surroundings.
Before Kyran could lower the range of his magic sense and reinforce it, the rest of the mages with Osric followed suit and released their magic pressure, too.
One of the reasons they did this was obviously to protect themselves from Osric’s overwhelming magic pressure. Although the latter had directed his magic pressure on Kyran and his magic sense, all the mages behind him still suffered from it. The other reason was to add more pressure on Kyran and try to destroy his magic sense’s area of influence.
As soon as all the mages behind Osric released their magic pressure, the influence of Kyran’s magic sense not only fluctuated but showed signs of crumbling.
To avoid receiving a backlash once his magic sense’s influence was completely overruled, Kyran ditched his initial move to lower his magic sense’s range. He chose to release his magic sense completely, albeit reluctantly. After all, as long as his magic sense covered the whole surroundings, he could easily discern Osric and his people’s movements. Not to mention, he would be able to sense if more enemies were coming.
Inside the Tower of Conclave, Hugh, the rest of the Conclave council members, Cyneah, and all of the Conclave and Army members felt the magic pressure coming from Osric and the rest of the mages with him. They also sensed Kyran’s magic sense disappearing, which made Hugh and the rest of the Conclave council members and Cyneah worried.
Stella was also worried. Although she could not rouse her magic energy because ‘Stella’ was still resting, she could still sense the magic pressure from Osric and his people.
“Time is almost up…” Cyneah muttered as she looked toward where the magic pressures came from.
Although Cyneah had spoken very softly, Stella had heard her and understood what she meant.
A wry smile appeared on Stella’s face as she looked at Cyneah, ‘So she is still counting down. I thought she was kidding.’
“Lady Stella,” Hugh and Vaness rushed into the tent and snapped Stella out of her thoughts. “Please, the two of you, return to the top chamber.”
Cyneah turned to look toward Hugh and Vaness. Although she could not see, since her magic sense was active, she could more or less see their silhouettes. Besides, even if she were not using her magic sense, she would still know where they were from the position of their ‘lights.’
“Malia and Avrum can take care of the rest,” Vaness added.
They knew that Cyneah was helping Malia and Avrum heal the wounded.
“Alright,” Stella replied at once.
Cyneah’s face darkened after realizing Hugh and Vaness’s implication.
Obviously, they wanted the two of them to retreat back to Stella’s chamber because the enemies had arrived.
At the moment, Cyneah could more or less sense Kyran was still a few hundred meters away from Osric and his people. But, judging from the magic pressure from the enemies, the new wave of attack was about to start.
“Is Nar planning to face all of the enemies alone?” Cyneah asked.
“Nar…?”
Hugh and Vaness looked at her before turning to Stella. Although they knew who ‘Nar’ was, they were confused about why Kyran kept his true identity from Cyneah.
Stella only looked at them meaningfully and replied to Cyneah, “I know you are worried. But don’t worry. He will not fight alone. Actually, we won’t fight them this time around.”
Vaness nodded his head, “That is correct. Err… Nar already fixed the defensive array. The defensive array would keep us safe even if the enemies relaunched their attack.”
“But Nar is outside the defensive array,” Cyneah insisted.
It was obvious she was worried about Kyran. Since she only knew a little about what he could do, she was afraid the enemies would hurt him.
Hugh looked at Cyneah with a slight smile. He more or less understood Cyneah’s concern. He wanted to tell her Kyran was not someone the enemies could defeat easily. But because Kyran did not seem to have told her about himself, he decided not to say it. Instead, he said, “You know Nar has a unique ability. He can move from one place to another in a very short period of time. So, even if he is outside of the defensive array, he will not have any trouble retreating.”
Cyneah looked at Hugh. She also knew about Kyran’s ability. As a matter of fact, they were underestimating what she knew about Kyran.
She already knew Kyran was the same as her. A mage possessing forbidden magic. However, she acted as if she did not know because Kyran did not tell her directly.
Cyneah was blindβ not stupid. Besides, since she could not see, her other senses were sharper than the others. Her hearing was very good, which was why she knew more than what she let on.
Nevertheless, she was still worried about Kyran. Just recalling the times when he would suddenly appear before her, and he was not in a good state, worried her. As a matter of fact, she knew that Kyran was near his limits.
Cyneah’s worries were actually on point.
When was the last time Kyran actually rested? He had not even slept for days, and although there were times when he was not using his magic, whenever he did, his usage would always the limit.
The only reason he could continue to use his magic was that now he was not trying to hide his magic, and he took advantage of his ability to replenish his magic energy by absorbing the magic energies in the surroundings.
In the end, Cyneah no longer said anything and only followed Stella back to her chamber. However, if they looked at her closely, they would notice she seemed to be in deep thought.
Back outside the Tower of Conclave, after releasing his magic sense, Kyran planned on retreating.
What he told Cyneah about not fighting the enemies was true. He had no intention of getting entangled with them because he knew his limits. Besides, his priority at the moment was to warp all of the members of the Conclave and the Army inside the Tower of Conclave.
In short, they would make a strategic retreat.ππͺπ³πππ§π²xt.π°ππ
In any case, they would go to the Regis Estate and regroup with the rest.
“What is this?”
Before Kyran could warp, he suddenly had a bad feeling and immediately looked down.
“Don’t tell me Senior Osric’s magic pressure scared you off, Kyran Regis.”
Kyran’s eyes widened as a silhouette emerged from his shadow!
And this silhouette had a scythe aimed at him.
Kyran jumped back just in time to avoid the blade of the scythe which was aimed at his neck.
After which, his eyes turned reddish-purple as he roused his magic. Purple orbs appeared around him and attacked the silhouette.
The silhouette, who now, upon closer look, was wearing a loose black cloak, evaded the purple orbs. After which, he seemed to blend into the shadow of a nearby tree.
Seeing this move, Kyran’s eyes narrowed because he was familiar with it.
Obviously, the silhouette was none other than Gael! To think that he would appear now when he had been missing for some time. Or at least, Kyran did not know where he had been after their encounter at the Tracomill camp.
“I still have scores to settle with you, Kyran Regis.”
Gael’s voice reverberated everywhere.
Kyran frowned slightly as he expanded the purple orbs. In an instant, the trees around him were destroyed.
“AHAHAHA!”
Gael’s laughter echoed as several shadow minions emerged from the shadows.
