Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 711 Aftermath (4)

Kyran and Rin talked for a couple of hours, mainly with the latter asking questions about anything and everything under the sun. It was not until Pheobe arrived that Rin was forced to leave Kyran to rest.

Apparently, Patriarch Aron had returned from a meeting with the Aureole and Templar Code leaders, and it was not going smoothly. The Aureole demanded a female leader from the Regis Clan present during the meeting, while the Templar Code leadersโ€” apart from Tritusโ€” demanded an explanation as to why their faction suddenly became a subsidiary of the Regis Clan.

Truth be told, Aron never said anything about subsidizing the Templar Code. It was Tritus who announced it at the start of the meeting, causing his subordinates to rage.

On the other hand, the Aureole leaders were calm. But when a leader from the Templar Code tried to goad them by asking if they had fallen to the point of submitting themselves to a fallen clan like the Regis.

However, Lauren ignored that leader and only looked at Aron and demanded to meet a female leader of their clan.

In the end, Aron decided to reconvene after a few days. He also advised Tritus to explain the actual status of cooperation between their side to his people and not exaggerate it.

Alas, Tritus only replied with a:

“I have sworn loyalty to your grandson. My life is his for the taking. There is nothing else to explain to my people.”

Tritus’s words just fueled the fire in the hearts of the Templar Code leaders. Even Reuben and Max were at a loss for words. And that spoke volumes, especially when the latter was a man of few words!

After that, Aron returned to the makeshift camp for all their wounded people outside the estate’s Inner Walls because Rin had stayed there to help the Conclave alchemists and Solum Tribe tend to the wounded.

Just when Kyran thought he would have time alone to sort his thoughts after Rin left, Kyra and the other little ones from the Regis Clan arrived. The room was too small for everyone to squeeze in, so it took a couple of hours for everyone to see him.

Kyran felt mixed emotions upon seeing all of them. All the things he endured outside the clan were to save them. Seeing them all laughing freely and looking excited, albeit a little ragged, had all been worth the journey Kyran endured.

But when the older kids finally ushered them to leave and let Kyran rest, he was once again left feelingโ€” empty.

As soon as Kyran realized this, he knew the spell Cyneah had put on him was finally lifted.๐“ƒ๐’๐—๐‘ฌ๐‘ณ๐’ฉ๐–Šxt.๐“ฌ๐’ช๐—†

This took Kyran by surprise. He had imagined feeling betrayed or annoyed at what Cyneah had done. The least he expected was to feel empty.

Kyran rested his back on the pillows as he gazed toward the open windows. The night had already fallen, and stars filled up the night sky.

They looked very beautiful. At the same time, it appeared as if they were mocking them with their beauty. After all, the war had just ended, and many people had suffered.

While looking outside, Kyran could hear faint peals of laughter from a distance. Even without using his magic sense, he could almost see those who had either recovered or were still recovering but could already move around, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the night.

‘Right,’ Kyran thought as a wry smile appeared on his face. ‘They may have suffered, but that won’t stop them from having fun on a night like this.’

“F*ck, look at you. Your eyes are like a dead fish.”

A familiar deep voice suddenly spoke.

Ignoring the speaker’s teasing tone, Kyran replied, “They’re not as dead as yours.”

He then looked toward the door as a black mist dispersed, revealing Nolan.

Just as Kyran had said, Nolan’s eyes were not that better. Dark circles were under his eyes, and he seemed to have aged since the last time they saw each other.

Nolan snorted in response. Then he waved his hand and conjured black particles around him. The particles converged and turned into a black chair, where he sat down while saying, “Do you blame me for your mistress’s departure?”

Kyran could not help but raise his brows at him. He had thought Nolan was about to go serious until that last bit.

Until when would he keep on calling Cyneah his mistress?

Nolan looked at the window pretending to be fascinated by the night sky when Kyran did not respond.

“It was me who allowed Ruin to enter the plane.”

“Yeah, mother told me.”

Nolan’s brow twitched slightly at the mention of Rin. But he kept on an indifferent expression.

“I see. She must have told you to beat the sh*t out of me. Because I almost risked Cade from destroying his magic core again.”

Kyran smiled wryly before looking out the window as well.

“Stella did say father was the one who fixed the rift all by himself after I blacked out.”

Nolan nodded.

“Always the hero, that Cade. Did he really think I would not notice the rift? As soon as I sensed it I stopped it from expanding.”

True to what Nolan said, the rift did stop expanding even before Kyran blacked out. The only reason it had become troublesome was the pulling force that came with it. That force was like a vacuum that sucked in everything within its range.

“Putting that aside, that True Void pulled a good one to the plane’s veil when he summoned that black hole. Even now, the plane’s veil is damaged. I can barely keep it together with my magic sense,” Nolan complained.

Kyran chuckled in spite of himself.

Stella also said that about True Void. That was why he had fallen asleep soon after. Kyran guessed he probably exhausted all his magic energy to pull that off.

As to why True Void summoned that black hole, it was to stop Ruin from taking Kyran while also trying to stop Obstruction from leaving through the vortex with Cyneah.

However, the plane could not handle the black hole and ripped the veil apart, causing several fissures that led to who knew where to appear.

Then Cyneah took that chance to break free from Obstruction and released the Macabre Glacier.

Ruin was rendered paralyzed as soon as his image was reflected into the Macabre glacier’s surface. The escaping Flos and Obstruction were also reflected on it.

While in a paralyzed state, they were sucked into the fissure close to them, with their status unknown.

At that time, Cade had only stabilized the rift. Just when he thought his image would also be reflected on the Macabre Glacier, it released a blinding light and ‘ate’ the black hole and almost all the scattered fissures in the sky. At the same time, it spat out several white orbs that flew in one direction.

When True Void saw the direction at which these white orbs had flown to, he realized they were leading to where he had hidden the bodies of the members from the Army, Conclave and the Regis.

It seemed, Cyneah willed the Macabre Glacier to release the souls it had taken. But to compensate for the magic energy it had lost it took in True Void’s black hole, which was created from his magic energy.

After that, Cyneah entered the only fissure the Macabre Glacier did not eat, and left on her own accord.

It was unknown if she had followed Flos and Obstruction, but Stella remembered that fissure was where Flos got thrown in.

When Kyran heard this earlier, he did not feel anything. But now that Cyneah’s spell was gone, he felt a sharp pain in his chest and his brow furrowed slightly.

As if sensing a change in Kyran’s mood, Nolan looked at him. If this had been any other time, he would have teased Kyran. However, Nolan was sensible enough not to joke on what happened.

To be honest, Nolan believed Cyneah’s decision to leave the Human plane was not the best move but necessary.

There was no telling when Layla’s will could win over Cyneah. When that happened, Nolan knew Kyran would hesitate to hurt her.

Thus, leaving the Human plane and go as far away from Kyran as possible was necessary.

Nolan did not know if a time would come where Cyneah could master the Soul core without Layla’s will interfering. But whether she succeed or not, was no longer their main concern. After all, they did not know where the fissure led her.

For all they knew, she might have fallen into a barren plane. If that was the case, her survival was not guaranteed.

Kyran also knew this. That was why he was in pain. He was worried about Cyneah.

For most of her life, she only ever experienced pain and sufferings. The only respite she had was when Kyran found her and ‘reluctantly’ saved her.

Now that he remembered how he wanted to push the responsibility to Byron in finding a place for Cyneah, Kyran felt ashamed.

Then again, he never expected she would become someone very important to him.

Nolan left Kyran to his own thoughts for a moment. When he saw a change in the latter’s eyes, he finally broke the silence and said, “Cade and Empress Iula will gather all Array Specialists in the empire to create an Array formation that would allow us to enter other planes.”

Kyran snapped out of his reverie as soon as he heard this. He looked at Nolan, obviously interested.

“Euan, Malek and those members of the Conclave and the Army are out there. We decided to look for them. It will be hard because as far as I know, the only one capable of doing this is that Tower.

“Unfortunately, we can’t use that tower’s system since it required one to undergo training. Besides, as long as that person’s objective that aligned with the tower’s training has been achieved, he would be transported back.

“Keeping this in mind, you understand how complex this formation will be, right?”

Kyran nodded.

“One factor to consider in that formation is the Void magic’s warp ability,” he supposed.

Nolan smiled, “That’s right. Such a thing would not be possible before. You know why right?”

“Because no one else knew about Void runes,” Kyran replied with a wry smile. “Another thing we have to consider is gathering information on the magic wavelengths of each planes. These wavelengths will serve as the coordinates when using the formation.”

The smile on Nolan’s face froze after hearing Kyran spout his ideas on the warp formation. If it had been in the past, he would only show a blank expression, hiding the fact he did not understand what Nolan was saying.

That was no longer the case. It actually made Nolan sad!

“Right, right,” Nolan cleared his throat. “You can save your enthusiasm to when we meet with the rest. Let’s talk about an urgent matter first.”

“What?”

“Revealing to the public about your magic.”

Kyran blinked. Only then did he remembered apart from their people, no one knew he was the new Void Master, also known as the Dark Sage!

This reminder immediately gave Kyran terrible headache.

How were they going to reveal his identity without causing mass panic?
