Chapter 868 Acquisition (8)
Before Kyran could tell Neo why he called, the latter abruptly stood after seeing Cyneah.
Neo looked at her, then back to Kyran excitedly, and exclaimed, “Ah! You have truly found the Mistress, Master! That’s good. Senior Zephyr will also be happy!”
Cyneah tried to get used to being called Mistress by the people around Kyran, but hearing it now while knowing the meaning behind him still embarrassed her. She wanted to dig a hole and hide!
On the other hand, True Void gawked at Neo in surprise.
“Oi, Oi! How did you—? More importantly, when did you—?” Because of his confusion, he could barely complete the questions running in his head. He looked at Kyran once more and demanded, “How did he get here?”
“I summoned him.”
“‘Summoned…'” True Void repeated in disbelief. But his doubts were immediately dispelled after recalling what Kyran said about not merely being unconscious these past weeks.
It was not hard to guess that Kyran had been awake in his sea of consciousness and received some guidance or even enlightenment at that time. But because of the time difference between one’s sea of consciousness and the waking world, True Void thought the amount of guidance Kyran received was only minimal, if not average.
True Void’s initial thoughts were dispelled the instant he saw Neo. After all, summoning something several planes away was a challenging feat. His reasoning was not wrong because only a couple of months back, Kyran could only warp close to Somuli before exhausting his energy. Now, he could even summon Neo without breaking a sweat.
‘This… is not only a result of his body’s evolution…’ True Void thought in amazement.
Cyneah was also surprised. Although her knowledge of Kyran’s magic was minimal, she knew how hard it was to perform a summon. Moreover, Kyran’s summon was not as simple as calling forth someone or something hidden in one’s space storage or spiritual space, but a complete transportation of a physical item from another plane.
‘So this is one of the strengths of the mage who had control over the Void…’ Cyneah’s eyes sparkled in admiration.
Not wanting to explain himself, Kyran looked at Neo and said, “I’ll transfer the blueprint of the array formation I want you to make. True Void will create the necessary materials because we don’t have enough time to search and gather all of them.”
“Yes, Master! I’ll make sure to create the formation worthy of your name.”
Kyran looked strangely at him, “Have you been feeding your memory with strange behavioral patterns again?”
Neo looked at him innocently and replied, “Of course not, Master. I am merely saving information on different behavioral patterns of every species I encounter while searching for the Mistress. It is so I can properly act and mingle with anyone, depending on the situation.”
“Delete them.”
“No!”
“Don’t make me delete them myself.”
“…”
After a tense silence, Neo hung his head to the side and relented, “…yes, Master.”
“You don’t have to mingle with others when you’re supposed to do a covert mission.”
“Ah… right,” Neo smiled sheepishly. “But, Master. What if I got caught? I will need that information to adapt and respond to the situation—.”
“If you’re caught then escape. You have enough Void energy coursing through your Energy core. Use it and warp. I did not create that core for show.”
Neo scratched his head. He understood his master’s words but wanted to observe and study other species. Specifically, he wanted to learn how to act like a real living being.
Kyran felt an incoming headache. Ever since Neo birthed his sentient, Kyran had been worried about him wanting to become human.
Before meeting Caelan again, Kyran knew it was impossible. However, after learning all the theories on utilizing Void energy, Kyran wondered if it was truly impossible. Of course, he initially had that thought not for Neo’s sake but for Zephyr. Or if he had to be specific, to the 99 consciousness living within the array formation he got from the Shaiha Temple.
“Don’t be impatient,” Kyran assured Neo. “Wait for a bit. I’ll see what I can do about your body.”
Neo’s iris whirred as he looked at Kyran in surprise. As someone who had only birthed a sentient for over a year, he was still unfamiliar with every human emotion. It was for this reason that he enjoyed observing the behavioral patterns of others, wanting to learn about the intricacies of what humans referred to as emotions.
“Master…” Neo suddenly covered his chest and said, “What are you saying in front of the Mistress?”
Kyran’s brow twitched. In the blink of an eye, a fissure appeared behind Neo and started to pull him in before he could even react.
“I was wrong! I’m sorry, Master…!” Neo pleaded for forgiveness especially since he sensed an ominous energy seeping through the fissure.
Where was their master planning to send him for punishment?
True Void watched the spectacle with a slight shake of his head. Neo sure had some guts to tease Kyran right when he had improved his magic knowledge by leaps and bounds.
Cyneah could not help but chuckle at the ruckus Neo had done. Honestly, this was the first time she met him, and she found his character amusing. As for his teasing Kyran, she found it funny, even endearing.
Kyran sighed inwardly after seeing Cyneah’s amusement. He initially wanted to teach Neo a lesson because he had become bolder in just over a few months of not seeing each other. In the end, Kyran changed his mind because Neo managed to distract Cyneah from her worries.
The fissure crackled and repaired itself, sending Neo stumbling to the floor. After that, a new blueprint appeared on his database, which he checked at once.
“I’ve given you the blueprint. Study it and ask True Void to create the needed materials,” Kyran told Neo as if nothing happened.
“Yes, Master,” Neo replied at once, feeling extremely relieved at his master’s magnanimity. “Thank you for your mercy!”
Kyran looked at True Void and continued, “I reinforced the defensive array at the Eidum’s border. It is best to perform the old man’s ascension there.”
True Void frowned slightly, noticing the implication behind Kyran’s words. Basically, Kyran wanted them to move back to the Eidum’s border because its defensive array would serve as another layer of protection for them. Having double protection was not really necessary with Ames assisting them. But if the worst-case scenario happened, which was the Armakea border’s fall, at least, with the defensive array at the Eidum’s border, it would prevent their enemy’s advancement to ensure the Abbot ascend with no problems.
“Don’t be reckless, Void Halfling, you hear? No matter how much you’ve improved your magical, and physical prowess, we’re still outnumbered. If the other outsiders join in the fray for whatever selfish reasons, it is not worth it to continue the plan of conquest and put everyone at risk. Make a tactical retreat, alright?”
Neo’s expression turned solemn upon hearing True Void. He had yet to understand the situation his master was in. But seeing he was still in bed, and seemed to have only recovered from whatever condition he had been, Neo was sure the situation was dire. Not only that, he also noticed that even though it had only been a couple of weeks since his master left, his master seemed to have been staying on this plane for more than just a couple of months.
Kyran smiled, “You’re overthinking. I and my Servants are enough to handle the situation.”
“You say Servants, but how many are they? Even if you included those knights who swore allegiance, you’re still far outnumbered.”
“I’ll also be with him,” Cyneah assured True Void. “With the rest of the Eidums.”
Kyran was about to protest but then stopped because she would be safer with him than with others. Not that she needed protecting. In any case, if something unexpected happened, he could provide assistance immediately.
lightsnοvεl.cοm “Master,” Neo started. “How about bringing in all the Sigils as well? Their numbers might be few but their diverse magic and abilities can be used in a good strategy.”
Kyran shook his head, “The situation in the Human plane is unclear. The last I heard, the other nations planned to attack the empire. I can’t have them leave their post in such a situation.”
Besides, the only one among the Sigils that could put up a fight in Somuli was Tritus. The rest of the Sigils, even if they were at least a Grand Master, could be considered cannon fodder.
“Err… yes. Thus far, that is still the situation,” Neo confirmed. “I believe that even if the Sigils come here now, they can return to the Human plane before anything happens.”
Before Kyran could ask how many days had passed in the Human plane from when he left and went to Somuli, Cyneah turned toward Neo and said while shaking her head, “Somuli’s time flow is erratic whenever its four moons are active. There are still a few more months before three of the four moons will go to sleep. Only when Somuli has one active moon will the time flow be more stable.
“A day here might only be a few hours in the Human plane. But in the next second, a day in Somuli might be equivalent to several weeks in the Human plane.”
Neo frowned, “That’s… harsh.”
“Neah is right,” Kyran agreed. He had read about the moons in Somuli and more or less understood what Cyneah had said. “I appreciate the suggestion and will give it another thought. But now, go with True Void and prepare the array.”
“Yes, Master.”
