Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 903 Intervene (7)

Cyneah was also aware of the hostile stares of the enemies. Although she could not see them per se, their piercing looks had practically condensed into something tangible.

Nevertheless, every attempt of the Elders to get close to Cyneah was either stopped by Malek activating the air pressure effect of his domain or Jita swinging her Divine Armament, which was an ice whip sword that could extend up to three meters, at them.

Meanwhile, Nahir and the others outside Malek’s domain continued to engage the three elders and their people.

There were instances where the Eidums were attacked by some of the enemies. However, because of the combat lessons they received from Kyran, they were not entirely hopeless. As a matter of fact, they could inflict status effects on the enemies with each of their attacks.

Still, doing this put a lot of strain on the Eidums because they were both attacking and supporting the others at every opportunity they could find.

On the other side, Eikin took advantage of his powerful defenses and combat skills to take out as many minions of the Royal Family members as possible. He would have taken out more enemies if not for the fact he could not summon his Divine Armament. This was not because he did not want to use his Divine Armament; rather, using it would put his allies in danger because of its destructive AOE capability.

Truth be told, Eikin’s Divine Armament did not possess this capability before. But after being reborn from the Void, his Divine Armament received a qualitative change. This might be due to the fact that his innate magic was very different from the Void; thus, the change was huge. Fortunately, his natural defenses and combat skills were enough to deal with the enemies.

As a matter of fact, Eikin’s body also received a boost in strength, coupled with the enhancements Kyran did to their armor; his body alone could be considered a lethal weapon.

It was precisely because of Eikin that Kyran regretted turning them into his Servants. With Eikin’s innate abilities and magic, it would have been better if he received a boost in strength by becoming a Sigil.

Using his destructive strength, Eikin and his small group succeeded in creating a gap in the enemy’s line from the rear. But while Eikin and his small group succeeded, Nahir’s side was close to exhausting their supplies.

Although complete beings could naturally produce magic energies, in prolonged battles such as the one they were in, those with low mage levels would soon be at a disadvantage. This was because the speed at which they could replenish their magic energies was inferior to those with higher mage levels.

Nahir’s side managed to keep up thus far simply because their pills and potions were of higher grade. But at the moment, their supplies were running thin, and Malek was the sole target of the miniature array Kyran created, which was based on Noir’s invention.

Cyneah was also aware of this because she was the one in charge of ensuring each group had enough supplies.

‘Ms. Jita,’ Cyneah telepathically called for Jita’s attention.

Jita’s expression remained unreadable as she continued to swing her ice whip sword at the elders who were trying to get close to Cyneah. But she responded telepathically, ‘Please, Mistress. Just call me Jita.’

Cyneah was momentarily stunned when Jita addressed her as Mistress. Although she found it strange how a handful of knights— excluding Achim and Kesiah— were very respectful of Kyran and appeared very close to him, she never expected him to tell them about her.

In the end, Cyneah managed to reign in her surprise and act as if she did not notice Jita’s address.

‘Then, Jita. I have to trouble you to keep the enemies busy while I prepare for a large-scale active spell.’

‘Active spell…’ Jita could not help but repeat in surprise.

Just as the name suggested, an active spell is active. So long as a mage succeeds in casting such a spell, its effect will remain active until the mage exhausts his or her magic energy.

When Jita heard Cyneah speak of casting an active spell, she immediately guessed what she intended to do. Although she was unsure which spell Cyneah planned to use, it would definitely benefit all of them. But at the same time, Cyneah would be put at risk to keep the spell running.

‘Mistress…’

‘Don’t worry,’ Cyneah cut Jita midsentence, knowing what the latter wanted to say. ‘I have a way of replenishing my magic energy.’

With the battle raging around them, the whole place had basically become Cyneah’s home ground.

After coming to terms with her insecurities and receiving Kyran’s assurance that his opinion of her would never change, Cyneah no longer feared taking advantage of the Macabre Glacier. She still hated turning the souls of those who had fallen into magic energy, but if it would benefit her allies, she was willing to carry that burden.

Knowing she could not change Cyneah’s mind, Jita did not argue and agreed. She also swore in her heart to protect her no matter what.

After Jita agreed to her request, Cyneah did not waste time and immediately activated the Macabre Glacier.

Luckily, after Kyran’s clash with the mirror’s sentient, it had remained silent. Though without the mirror’s sentient, Cyneah’s ability to circulate magic energy through the mirror was reduced, it was still enough for her to perform the large-scale active spell.

Cyneah’s mirror-like eyes gradually lit up as she circulated the Soul magic energy in the surroundings. She directed these energies into the mirror; at the same time, she spread her arms to start summoning the Soul Runes for the active spell she wanted to cast.

Light golden runes started to form behind her, turning into a magic array. At first, the runes formed into a circular half-a-meter diameter magic array. But since Soul Runes continued to appear out of thin air, they formed another circular magic array around the first one.

As the magic array behind Cyneah increased in size, the magic fluctuations around her also intensified.

The first one to notice what was happening was Malek since Cyneah was inside his domain.

Normally, it would have been impossible for another mage to cast a powerful magic spell while inside another mage’s domain. However, given the nature of Cyneah’s magic, it did not affect Malek’s domain.

As a matter of fact, Malek noticed how his domain’s range and strength increased as the magic array behind Cyneah grew.

‘This… is this Soul magic?’ Malek could not help but wonder. While he was aware that Cyneah should have been the new Soul Emperor, with Layla in the picture, he still had trouble accepting this fact. Moreover, having fought Layla not long ago, Malek could not help but notice the difference in which Layla used Soul magic from Cyneah.

“This…!”

One of the four elders trapped inside Malek’s domain exclaimed after sensing the magic fluctuation coming from Cyneah.

Seeing the forming magic array behind Cyneah, the elder mistook it as her activating a lost technology. Complete beings were unaware of the difference between an array made from Magic and one created from Array Creation.

“She… how could she replicate a lost technology!” Another elder who noticed the growing magic fluctuation also exclaimed.

“Don’t waste time talking! Don’t let her complete it!” The elder with the bell told them.

Even before the elder finished what he was saying, the two female elders had already aimed their Divine Armaments toward Cyneah.

The one with the large fan Divine Armament disengaged each of the fan’s blades and willed them toward Cyneah.

Similarly, the other female elder threw her small dual fan at Cyneah. They weaved through the air, leaving behind a crackling sound as they tore through the air.

Malek’s eyes flashed as he exerted pressure on the two Divine Armaments. He was already aware that the two female elders’ innate magic was Wind, an inferior— or, rather— a small branch of magic from his superior Air magic. Just from this fact, the female elders’ magic attack was rendered useless inside his domain.

Nevertheless, that did not stop the two elders from attacking. Although Malek had exerted pressure on their Divine Armaments, thus slowing their momentum, it was not enough to stop their movement completely. Besides, the elder with the bell was still protecting them, and another elder with a dual scimitar Divine Armament was engaging Malek in a battle.

“Humph,” Jita could not help but snort as the two Divine Armaments came hurling toward their direction.

With the reduced momentum of these two Divine Armaments, Jita had no problem defending against them. Using her whip sword, she allowed it to extend to its maximum length and grabbed one of the blades from the large fan. She then rotated her wrist and flung the blade toward another blade, completely stopping the two. Without stopping her movement, she swung her whip blade and aimed at the two smaller fans before hurling them toward the rest of the blades from the larger fan.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The two female elders coughed out blood as their Divine Armaments collided with each other and exploded.
