Chapter 291: Continuing the journey
Chapter 291: Continuing the journey
Things progressed that smoothly. Long Wei’s steps were lighter after he left and the serious look on his face had a trace of relaxation to it.
“I never thought that a young person could have this kind of courage, receiving the heavy responsibility of the nation’s future without his face changing at all. Just what background does he have in real life?” Long Wei gave a sigh as his face was filled with praise.
Shadow, who had been silent the whole time, slightly knitted his brows and couldn’t help asking, “Official, why are you so polite to him?”
His voice was very low and deep, as well as a bit hoarse, but it was as cold as winter.
Long Wei revealed a faint smile, “Did you forget what happened to Dragon One? Dragon One revealed himself, but he still didn’t hesitate to use that overbearing method. This is a man whose arrogance is deep in his bones and won’t take a single bit of threat. Intimidating him will have the opposite effect.”
Shadow was silent as he lowered his head to look at the ground.
“What if he didn’t agree just now?” Shadow asked.
“In the entire Chinese Server, there’s no choice other than him. If he didn’t agree, I could only use that method.”
“Then what if he loses!” Shadow lowered his voice as he asked this.
“Loss……” Long Wei’s eyes dimmed. This was the result that he had been avoiding the whole time, the one that he did his best not to think about.
“A loss is a loss, I will naturally accept the consequences.” Long Wei gave a sigh before heading off with large steps.
Feeling the sudden change in the official’s mood, Shadow cursed himself as he wished he could cut his tongue off. He carefully followed behind him with his head lowered, not saying a word.
At the same time……
Green trees, wild flowers, clear ponds, and ancient style buildings, this large courtyard was like a paradise. The decorations were simple without losing the aesthetic of modern design. In the garden, there was an old lady with a kind smile that was scattering feed for the pigeons. Her clothing was simple, but her actions and physique revealed a noble aura that couldn’t be hidden.
In the middle of the garden, there was a pond that wasn’t big or small. The lotus were green and the grass was green, it was already impossible to tell if it was real or fake. Beside the pond, there was an old person close to seventy that had his eyes narrowed and was holding a fishing rod, silently sitting there. His face was covered in wrinkles that came with time and between those narrowed eyes, there was a divine glow that made one’s heart tremble. The rod in his hands was strangely still. This old person’s body didn’t move like a statue and even his heart didn’t have a ripple like the pond.
“Grandma, grandpa, Bao Bao is here to see you!”
Moving unimpeded through the layers of protection, Bao Bao ran forward calling out as she pulled on her mother’s hand. Before she arrived, the sound of the elf’s voice rang out. The old woman put down the things in her hands and the face filled with wrinkles of age revealed a happy and loving look. The old man by the pond didn’t react, as if he didn’t hear anything.
“Grandma!” Bao Bao saw her grandmother that came to greet her and ran into her arms with a smile on her face.
The old woman revealed a loving look, “My little Bao Bao, grandma has missed you to death. You haven’t come to see grandma in so long.”
Bao Bao’s mother elegantly walked over and said with a faint smile, “Mother in law, Bao Bao has always missed you at home.”
“Un!” Bao Bao gave a strong nod, “I always missed grandma……and grandpa.” Bao Bao looked at the old man by the pond and ran over. Her little lips pouted with a bit of dissatisfaction, “Grandpa always ignores Bao Bao when you’re fishing.”
The old man’s narrowed eyes slowly opened before he slowly said, “Bao Bao, pick up the rod on the side and fish with grandpa.”
The old man’s voice was a bit low and deep, but there was a prestige that couldn’t be disobeyed. Bao Bao gave an obedient rod and picked up the little rod that belonged to her. She gave a cute swing and threw the hook into the water. There wasn’t any bait on the hook.
Bao Bao did her best to sit by the pond like the old man, but her clear big eyes kept turning as she looked for ripples on the pond while also peeking at the old man’s calm face, as well as looking at her mother and grandmother with a pleading look.
The woman and the old woman looked at each other before shaking their heads with helpless smiles, but they didn’t do anything.
“Grandpa, why do you like making Bao Bao fish? It’s so boring……Moreover, there are never any fish.” Bao Bao finally couldn’t take how boring it was anymore and pouted her lips in an aggrieved manner.
“Fishing is good training for the heart……”
“Alright, alright, Bao Bao is still a child, how could she be the same as an old man like you?” The old woman took the rod from Bao Bao’s hand with a smile that looked like she found this funny before taking her little hand, “Come, let’s not care about this old man. Grandma has prepared all the desserts that you like you eat.”
“Wu, hee, hee, grandma is still the best.” Bao Bao stood up again and stuck her little pink tongue out at the old man before following her grandmother.
Looking at Bao Bao’s back, the old man lowered his head and revealed a helpless smile. Then he gave a sigh and closed his eyes again.
After Long Wei left, Feng Xiao sat there in silence without saying a word, as he thought about his goal. His eyes didn’t have any focus which showed how confused he was deep down.
Under «Rebirth’s» mysterious veil, was it really only hiding this……The path that his father pointed, where did it actually lead?
He shook his head. No, the secrets of «Rebirth» definitely didn’t end there. There was something else hidden here, something even more important than the fate of the country! Perhaps, it would be a heaven shaking secret……
He was the one that would solve all of this!
Feng Xiao’s eyes fell onto the golden sword in his hand. He had another reason to become stronger. He knew in his heart that even with Xiao Bai’s heaven defying Beast King Summon Skills, even “Slaughtering the Human World” wouldn’t be a match for him. But he wanted to use his own power to win or he wouldn’t be Feng Xiao, wouldn’t be Blood Emperor Ying Feng, he would never become the real “number one” that his father said!
Feng Xiao’s eyes became more determined as he put away the Xuanyuan Sword. In his journey for the person who could use the “Angel’s Tears”, he also had to find the Chaos Sacred Water. But finding these two things that only existed in legends was like feeling a despair that didn’t let one feel any trace of hope.
“Big brother Feng, what is it? Long……What did the official talk to you about?” Yang Xi Ruo asked with a concerned look. She rarely saw this kind of expression on his face.
Feng Xiao came back to his senses and said with a smile, “It’s nothing, it’s just that your big brother Feng’s charm is too great that it alerted official Long. The highest official became my fan, how could I not feel embarrassed?” Feng Xiao said with a smile that was looking to be beaten.
In his heart, this pure girl shouldn’t be contaminated with any worries. What she needed to do was enjoy the happiness that life brought, separated from this world, especially when it came to manipulative politics. If it wasn’t for the fact that this related to all of China and this was for him to be recognized as the number one in China, he wouldn’t have gotten involved.
Xi Ruo gave a laugh before not asking anything else. She reached her delicate hands to help him fix his clothes. Although, his clothes already couldn’t be more neat. She liked this feeling, like she was a wife preparing her husband for a long journey.
“Big brother Feng, I know you want to bring Rou Rou back as soon as possible. So you can go now.” Xi Ruo put her hands down with a smile, doing her best not to show any unwillingness in her face.
“Un! When you feel lonely, remember to call me back.” After he said this, Feng Xiao gave a sigh in his heart. This soft hearted girl that only thought about him, even if she missed him, she wouldn’t let herself disturb him. After he saved Rou Rou, he had to spend more time with her.
“I will. Alright, go quickly.”
With the clear weather and the grass all around, Feng Xiao returned to the west of the continent. He called out Xiao Bai and continued heading west. His following journey had also changed a bit because of Long Wei’s arrival.
Coming to the back yard covered in green grass and flowers, Xi Ruo squatted down and stroked a flower as she muttered, “I need you all to stay with me.”
A small green cauldron appeared in her palm. She closed her eyes as she was covered in a faint green glow. Her spiritual sense spread and entered it, exploring the depths hidden within. Countless recipes filled her mind and time had unknowingly passed.
Without knowing how long passed, there was a notification that rang in her ears. She put away the Shennong Cauldron and opened her eyes.
“Little sister Ruo Ruo, are you thinking about refining pills for big brother again?” Feng Yao came to her side with footsteps as soft as clouds, saying this with a smile on her face.
“Un. The Shennong Cauldron has too many recipes and I still haven’t read them all yet. Moreover, the required materials for these recipes are just too rare, so it’s hard to refine even if I know the recipes.” Yang Xi Ruo said in a low spirited voice.
Among players, there wasn’t anyone that had a higher gathering skill than her. Putting this limit aside, Divine, Immortal, and even Spiritual Grade Herbs were rare enough and one couldn’t look for them.
“Right, big sister Yao’er. Official Long came looking for big brother Feng today.”
“Ah……” Feng Yao visibly trembled before asking in a nervous voice, “What did he look for big brother for?”
