Legend of the Asura

Chapter 5: Xuanyuan Waner (2)

Chapter 5: Xuanyuan Waner (2)

“Mas……ter…….”

A graceful and familiar female voice rang in his ears.  Feng Xiao quickly stood up and curiously looked all around him.  When he found that there was no one around, he tried listening once again, but he could only heard the sound of the wind blowing.

“I probably just hear wrong.”  Feng Xiao began with his collecting.

“Mas……ter…….”

This time, Feng Xiao clearly heard it.  Even his incomparably brave heart couldn’t help but feel a trace of fear.  Perhaps…..ghosts do exist.

“Who are you?  Where are you?”  Feng Xiao screamed into his surroundings.

“I……am in your……body.  Summon the…….Xuanyuan Sword……blood…….”

The sound became softer and softer until he couldn’t hear it anymore.

Inside his body?  Xuanyuan Sword?  Attached?  Perhaps……

Feng Xiao suddenly thought of a single possibility.  He quickly gathered himself and silently thought “Xuanyuan Sword”.

A white light shined and a copper coloured plain long sword appeared in his hand.  The sword was about 150 cms in length, with the blade being 120 cms in length and 15 cms in width.  There were intricate patterns carved on the blade of the sword.  On one side there were celestial bodies carved, on the other, there were mountains and rivers.  There were a few words written clearly on the sword hilt.

Xuanyuan Sword!  It had to be the Xuanyuan Sword!  Although it was quite different compared to the invincible, golden, and radiant image that he had imagined, but Feng Xiao was certain this was the Xuanyuan Sword that the system had said acknowledged him as its master.  It was because the vaguely visible text on the sword was the same as the legends said.

Feng Xiao was so excited his hands trembled.  He quickly looked at the Xuanyuan Sword’s stats.

Xuanyuan Sword: Unknown grade

Requirement: None

Effects: Physical Attack +1

Crazy, this was completely crazy.  This was the Xuanyuan sword, the strongest out of the ten Ancient Divine Artifacts and it was unexpectedly inferior to a Beginner’s Sword.  Feng Xiao’s excitement was ruthlessly extinguished by a bucket of cold water.  It was like throwing a bunch of bean shaped chocolate into your mouth to find that it was actually lamb poop.

The depressed Feng Xiao suddenly thought of something.  He remembered that the sound had mentioned blood before.  Perhaps it needed blood to be dropped onto it for it to recognize him as its master?

Without any hesitation, Feng Xiao quickly placed his hand on the sword and thought: let blood flow!

«Rebirth» was technically a game for fun so there was no blood that appeared when anything was cut.  There was definitely nothing like body parts that went flying or corpse that exploded.  In fact the sense of pain was set at only 5%.  But in special occasions where one needed to use blood, one only needed to think and it would appear.

Once it made contact with Feng Xiao’s blood, the Xuanyuan Sword’s blade began to emit a weak golden glow.  The blade began to tremble and emit a “ci, ci” sound.

Gradually the golden light shined brighter and brighter as the blade’s trembling became stronger.  Feng Xiao gripped it tight with both hands to make sure it didn’t fall.  After a full minute, the blade stopped vibrating and the golden glow began to fade.

The current Xuanyuan sword, this ancient sword was covered in a golden glow and the lines on it were much clearer.

“Master, you’ve succeeded.  Finally…..succeeded.”  The familiar sound rang out again.  This time it was much clearer and it was clearly every excited.

“Are you the Xuanyuan Sword?  Were you the one speaking to me?”  Feng Xiao stared at the Xuanyuan Sword in his hand and asked.

“I am the Xuanyuan Sword’s……spirit.  I am called Xuanyuan Wan’er, master can call me Wan’er.”  The young girl’s voice was like an oriole’s call, delightful to listen to.  Each word spoken seemed to carry a hint of shyness.

“Sword Spirit?”  Feng Xiao had learned about sword spirits from his adoptive father before.  Strong weapons had the possibility of developing a spiritual body.  So he believed her and since this was a game, it wasn’t really that surprising.  Only in his mind, he always imagined sword spirits as a kind of arrogant white bearded old man.  He never would have expected this one would be a young girl with a charming voice.

“Were you just in my body?”

“I was just in master’s sea of consciousness.  Once one of the ten Ancient Divine Artifacts recognize a master, they stay in the master’s sea of consciousness, only coming out when their master summons them.”

“Wan’er has already been waiting for over the thousand years.  Finally……I’ve found master.  Wan’er is very happy.”

“Waiting for?  Ten thousand years?  What kind of situation is this?  Are you looking for me?  Why?”  Feng Xiao was confused from listening to her.  This game, what kind of setting was this?

“Ten thousand years ago, there was a great battle between demons and gods.  The Xuanyuan sword was sealed with seven seals for some reason and the most important first seal requires chaotic blood to unlock.  Master is the one prophesied ten thousand years ago, the only other person after Pengu with a chaotic body.””

“Great battle between demons and gods?  Sealed?  Chaotic body?  Me?”  Feng Xiao touched his face in a daze, then secretly said: Perhaps I’ve won a big prize?  Perhaps I was assigned a chaotic body out of all the countless hundred of millions of players in «Rebirth».  If it’s really like this, then I’m truly too lucky.  Since this is what the heavens have decided, then I’ll just……Hei, hei……reluctantly accept it.  Not to mention the free Xuanyuan Sword, I’ve also obtained a cute sword spirit.  This game, is truly too shameless, but, I like it.

No wonder the stats from before were so bad, it was because it had been sealed.  Feng Xiao quickly looked at the current Xuanyuan Sword stats.

Sealed Xuanyuan Sword: Unknown grade

Requirements: None

Attack speed: Ordinary

It has recognized a master.  It cannot be traded, dropped, destroyed, or stolen.

A golden thousand year ancient sword.  Legends say that this sword was bestowed upon emperor Xuan Yuan by the gods to defeat Chi You’s unrivalled divine sword.  It is a divine sword that contain infinite power to cut down demons.  Currently in a sealed state.

Seals unlocked: 1/7

Stats: Physical Attack +100, Physical Attack +10%, HP +100, MP +100, four basic stats +10, Luck +10, Accuracy +10, Critical Attack +5%, 5% chance to block attacks, 1% chance to break weapons, 1% chance to shatter armour, 1% chance of instant killing.

Skills:

Xuanyuan Sacred Flames: Support Skill

Basic Level.  Uses the sacred flames of the Xuanyuan Sword to increase the user’s fighting spirit.  It will greatly increase the user’s abilities for a certain amount of time.

Effects:  Attack Power +100%.  Lasts for 10 seconds.  Can only be used once per day.

A variety of strong stats and skills dazzled Feng Xiao – Strong, very strong.  Adding in the 10 luck, weapon shattering, armour breaking, and instant death, each one of these stats were considered the strongest ones to have in «Rebirth».  Also the support skill Xuanyuan Sacred Flame was incomparably strong.  If only it could last a little longer, then it would be absolutely terrifying.

The Luck stat influenced the drop rate, the critical chance, and certain in game success ratios, for example, the chance of getting a hidden quest.  It was a very important fixed stat.  Normal players usually only had a random amount between 1-5 and rare equipment that could increase Luck never went past 3 points.  In the first stages of the game, there were zero opportunities for these equipments to appear.

Weapon breaking could disable an opponent’s weapon.  As long as they don’t immediately replace it with another piece of equipment, they would have to fight empty handed.  Their attack power would severely drop and they wouldn’t be able to use their skills.  Breaking an opponent’s armour could make that as soft as tofu.

Instant death, as the name suggests, it instantly killed people.  A single move was enough.  No matter how high one’s level, defence, or HP was, as long as the instant death effect was activated, their HP would immediately empty and they would fall to the ground as a corpse.  Of course, the probability of instant death was very small and when facing a higher grade or higher level opponent, the probability of instant death activating was incredibly small.

Only unlocking the first seal made the Xuanyuan Sword this powerful.  It truly deserved the title of the strongest Ancient Divine Weapon.
