The flying shuttle had just landed.

A group of people dressed in black and gold uniforms was enveloped in an air of superiority and vigor. They disembarked and confidently strode over, surrounding Feng Lin.

These students could have easily passed off as soldiers with their physique and stance!

Besides being a university, Great Wall University was also an independent military group.

“Feng Lin, are you the newly recruited freshman of our Great Wall University?” asked the leader of the group. At the same time, Feng Lin could already feel the guarded stares of the other students bore into him as they watched his every move and remained poised to attack.

After all, these were all grand cultivators!

Once again, Feng Lin felt a sense of suppression to his vitality, of which it was mostly felt from the leader of the group.

The leader of the group was a good-looking Asian man with a fiery, crimson red hair. The sculpted planes of his face and chiseled jawline resembled that of Michelangelo’s sculpture, and he radiated an overwhelming sense of grandeur.

He was like the blinding sun.

Could he be an adept cultivator?

Wouldn’t that mean that his vitality exceeded 10,000?

One could count on a top 10 university of the universe, like the Great Wall University, to have such a powerful student!

Feng Lin quietly nodded while remaining in awe at the prowess of the students he had just met. Even within the universe, there were only a few people with their levels of mastery! They had certainly affirmed his decision to enroll.

Feng Lin could not help but feel that this was where his future lay.

“Not bad!” exclaimed the team leader as Feng Lin calmly passed him his student records.

Upon receiving the documents, the team leader immediately started verifying the information.

He appeared to have come across something of interest as he uttered gravely, “Were you a survivor of the crash of the Great Qin Flying Shuttle?”

Great Qin was the code of the Great Wall University’s flying shuttle that Feng Lin rode in earlier!

“Yes!” Feng Lin replied while nodding.

At his reply, something changed. With a fixated glare, the team leader looked straight at Feng Lin with an inexplicable sternness.

Feng Lin stiffened at the sense of animosity and cautiousness that he had not felt from the team leader earlier.

As if something had broken his train of thoughts, the team leader quickly reverted to his composed and friendly self. He welcomed Feng Lin back to school with an outstretched hand and a renewed sense of hospitality. “Welcome to school! I was just surprised to find out that someone could have survived that accident on his own. Sorry if I startled you. You should fly with us next. Your peers from the previous flying shuttle have already arrived at Great Wall University!”

There was more to him than meets the eye. Almost immediately, Feng Lin was ushered onboard to a single room by the peers of the team leader, all the while being carefully watched.

That said, his freedom to leave the room was not restricted. However, he was only allowed to wander around areas near the deck and was forbidden from accessing the secret or important areas.

Feng Lin did not mind though. He was able to rest and put his mind at ease.

As if patrolling the area, the Great Wall University’s shuttle took three days to make a detour before heading back to the campus.

The alarm on the flying shuttle went off, and it was followed by an announcement. “The flying shuttle is about to land. Welcome to Great Wall University! The greatest fortress for interstellar humans!”

Feng Lin opened his eyes and walked toward the deck. And instantly, the view before his eyes caught him in his tracks.

He was staring out at the Great Wall that looked like a long-winding, glistening galaxy. It illuminated the dark and endless horizon while protecting the humans within the Milky Way.

It was hard not to be moved by such a majestic view, and Feng Lin was certainly rendered speechless.

Watching the Great Wall extend itself like a dragon swimming through the universe was breathtaking.

All that filled his vision was the spectacular never-ending stretch of the Great Wall.

Illuminating the darkness! Protecting the civilization!

When you looked closely though, you would be able to tell that atop the meandering Great Wall were many fortresses. They were made of sturdy steel walls that linked the stars together like a chain, radiating immeasurable light and energy.

It was remarkable how far technology had evolved to the extent of creating an artifact comparable to the works of superpowers.

By possessing such technology, any average Joe could be an expert even without superhuman strength.

Using stars as a foundation for the fortresses had provided the Great Wall with an endless stream of energy. At times, the stars would explode across the horizon like snarling red dragons dancing in the skies.

However, unable to escape the cloak of crystalized atmosphere in the night skies, they surrendered completely to the immense power of the universe and were converted into energy. It was simply breathtaking to watch.

The great galaxy wall, the black drapes of the night skies, and the sparkling stars emitting light and energy had formed this endless barrier that protected the human civilization. It was the ultimate defense!

There was a sinister atmosphere surrounding the Great Wall, telling the stories of bloodshed from the many wars that had taken place there.

In fact, Feng Lin observed that it gave off a desire to control the galaxy through the warped skies and unusual infractions of light that seemed to go on endlessly.

(This must have taken a boundless amount of power to build! How much power is required to do this? It was unimaginable, just like the works of a God or a Devil!

“This is the Great Wall of Darkness”, a low voice uttered next to him.

The crimson-haired guy seemed to have appeared out of nowhere and was staring intently at the Great Wall with awe and respect.

“Did you know? Humans were filled with optimism when they first left the solar system, only to have their hopes massacred by the extraterrestrial races. If it weren’t for the sacrifices made by our ancestors, they could have even lost the ancestral star region, the solar system. Our ancestors fought back and killed the extraterrestrial races one by one, chasing them out of the Milky Way galaxy. They also built this majestic Great Wall as a line of defense that illuminated the dark universe. The Great Wall does not just protect human civilization; it is also a lighthouse in space. No matter how far mankind travels beyond the Milky Way galaxy, they will always be able to find their way home when they look back at the Great Wall.”

Feng Lin nodded in agreement.

Indeed. The Great Wall was built by the ancient Huaxia during the Ancient Earth Era to brunt against invasion. It was only natural that the star fortress of the skies was given the same name for the same reason. It was meant to be the steel fortress of the Milky Way galaxy that protected the safety of the interstellar humans and ensured the continuation of civilization.

(It was the bloodsheds and sacrifices of our ancestors that made a project of such scale possible.)

The Great Wall might look like it was made of steel. But truth be told, was it not simply the product of human sacrifices?

“Do you see the individual star fortresses?” The crimson-haired guy pointed out and elaborated, “Each fortress represents a faculty at the Great Wall University. The teaching and content differ for each. As a military school, the students are being prepared for combat against extraterrestrial races. What we are taught cannot be found in any of those sissy universities. The war faculty focuses on grooming students to be interstellar warriors that were well-versed in space combat. This branch of studies includes mecha studies, warship studies, and the most popular of all, star battle studies. The gene faculty is for those interested in learning all about mythological genes. These are people who are aspiring to be genetic pharmacists, genetic hypnotists, genetic engineers, etc. There is a major suitable for everyone, and the contents taught are vastly different. You should choose your faculty and major accordingly to your strengths and characteristics to maximize your potential. If you were to choose the wrong path, it would be hard to correct it in the future.”

The crimson-haired guy shared the fundamental information on the university with Feng Lin, perhaps with the intention of advising him as a senior.

Feng Lin listened attentively, taking mental notes while nodding from time to time.

“Well, since you have enrolled, we will be schoolmates and comrades from now onwards! I hope to be able to fight alongside you on the battlefield, to defend mankind!” With that, the crimson-haired guy gave Feng Lin a meaningful pat on the shoulder and turned to leave.

Feng Lin smiled and nodded in acknowledgment while staring at the Great Wall on the horizon.

(Is this the Great Wall University?)

Clack, clack, clack!

The sound of hurried footsteps broke his train of thoughts.

“Oh, why are you back?” Feng Lin furrowed his brows in confusion as he turned to face the crimson-haired guy again. Feng Lin was even more perplexed to find that this time around, the guy had brought along a group of other students with him too.

It was only at this point that Feng Lin noticed the stern and grave look on the crimson-haired guy’s face.

“Feng Lin, we have just been informed that you are a spy from the Spirit Race! You are now under arrest! We have been authorized to kill you should you resist!”
