LORD OF THE KARMIC FATE

Chapter 63 Ascending The Mountain!

'Almost two thousand?' Raven placed his fingers below his chin, wondering if with this many individuals they will be able to complete the Realm Game.

On the other hand, people standing close to him frowned and began to whisper to each other while they occasionally stole glances at him, looking at him as if he was a fool.

"Hey, who is that fella? Why is he wearing a suit?"

"Maybe he forgot he will have to attend a wedding when he decided to join the event?"

"Dunno. But even if he did, what about the mask? Do people nowadays wear masks at other's weddings?"

"No, definitely not. Maybe he is just simply a weirdo?"

"Who knows, but he definitely has some few screws loose."

As people were wondering whether Raven was someone crazy or he just simply happened to wear that dress at the wrong time, suddenly numerous magic panels popped up in front of everyone.

Whoosh!

In a flash, the world around everyone within the Empty World changed. The white clouds below their feet became rocky with only a few spots filled with grass while in the distance a massive mountain began to rise toward the sky, its sharp peak reaching and hiding behind the dark clouds above!

Upon seeing this, almost every human exclaimed with shock, only a few, including Raven, remaining calm and unfazed. Instead, he decided to turn around, only to be shocked the very next second and quickly take several steps backward.

Right behind him, a massive crater with seemingly no bottom spread all the way into the horizon, enveloped in nothing but complete darkness!

It was an immensely large abyss, so deep that Raven could easily imagine just what of fate he would experience if he happened to fall in it.

But although fate seemed to not hate him at the moment, it was not the case for others.

Just a few seconds after turning around and stepping a safe distance away from the edge of the bottomless pit, numerous people decided to do the opposite, in the hope to get a better look at the mountain.

The result of such an act, of course, came with dire consequences, and like small rocks falling from a cliff, people one after another dropped to their death with screams filled with dread.

[Total Participants: 1,747]

Raven and literally everyone who saw just how many lost their lives in a span of a few seconds sucked in a mouthful of cold air.

"Now that's what you call being truly unfortunate." sitting beside President Bai, the man with the fat figure exclaimed out with a sneer, earning nods from others sitting together with him in the room.

"Not even a minute had passed, yet more than two hundred have died." letting out a deep sigh, Thomas closed his eyes and shook his head hopelessly.

Just because of a small mistake those people paid a heavy price which was none other than their powers and also their future in this rapidly changing world.

It was unfortunate indeed...

[You have 15 seconds to prepare!]

Another panel materialized before Raven's face which quickly snapped out of his daze and made him finally focus his gaze on the mountain.

'Although it will take us some time to reach the top, it does not seem an impossible feat. With how huge my Constitution and Speed are, I'm rather confident in my abilities.' Raven thought to himself as he stretched his limbs a little and once the countdown reached zero dashed forward.

Of course, while he was confident in his stamina and speed, he was no fool to believe he could reach the top as the number 1 just with his Avatar Traits alone. And this showed the very first second he and everyone else started running.

While it was true that he was unbeatable when it came to pure physical speed, there were several individuals who took out numerous items, seemingly their Artifacts, and used them to gain powers that allowed them to instantly appear on the front!

There was one who grew wings and instantly soared numerous meters into the air, one who waved a piece of a handkerchief that grew in size and allowed its owner to jump on it before flashing into the distance like a car, or even one who had boots capable of jumping large distances in an instant!

There were many Artifacts that helped people gain an immediate advantage while the rest could only curse out loud and watch helplessly as the Artifacts they possessed were either useless in this kind of situation or simply could be used during other events!

Raven, without any need to say it, was one of the latter. The only difference between him and the rest, however, was that he was not panicking nor cursing for being left behind.

As for the reason?

In fact, he had not one, but two reasons!

First of all, being left behind granted him the ability to evaluate everyone's strength while also seeing what their Artifacts did or could possibly do. Here, in this Special Event and Realm Game, where one could die not only by beasts or accidents but because of other humans too, it was not a bad idea to be perceptive.

After all, you can never be sure who will be your next enemy, right?

As for the other reason, it was simply because of one small little detail he happened to notice within the magic panels.

<The Realm Game will only start once the Relic has been acquired!>

When he first saw it, Raven was confused but after giving it a thought he had to realize that this 'race' to the top was not the real event yet. It was just a 'warm-up' which if once done will let them experience the real deal!

And exactly for these two reasons why he was in no hurry to be among the first ones and instead took his time, watching everything from a safe distance away while also taking his time to examine others' Artifacts!
