Chapter 32: Guardians and Nine Heavenly Treasures!
Chapter 32: Guardians and Nine Heavenly Treasures!
Zhang Wei had amassed a whopping fifty villain points after getting down and dirty with Rong Meili, but he didn’t give a damn about points anymore.
He was more interested in milking that little princess for all she’s worth!
Just a few drops of her milk could give him a thousand villain points and a whole lot of yin essence.
Feng Xinyue had no clue about Zhang Wei’s diabolical plans for her.
If she did, she’d be running for the hills faster than a bat out of hell.
Zhang Wei scanned the room for any cultivators, relieved to find none.
The system had warned him about hidden cultivators in this world, and he didn’t want to end up on their shit list.
Suddenly, the door to the top floor room creaked open and a dude stumbled out.
Zhang Wei furrowed his brow in annoyance, but quickly shrugged it off.
It was hardly surprising that someone as old as the dragon lady hadn’t gotten any action in a while. [A/N: Don’t make assumptions!]

Zhang Wei looked puzzled and asked, “What in the world is this behavior system?”
He couldn’t believe that a pig-faced individual like Ye Feng could have divine talent.
Wasn’t it supposed to be rare?
The system struggled to explain, but finally revealed that Ye Feng was one of the chosen guardians of the lower world.
In the past, every hundred years, a fierce battle is fought among all the guardians in an ancient arena, and the winner is awarded one of the nine heavenly treasures that exist in the universe:
The Celestial Sword
The Golden Bow
The Crown of Immortality
The Armor of Light
The Book of Destiny ππͺπ½β―π΅ππ’xt.πΈπ¬π
The Jade Pendant
The Heavenly Staff
The Jade Flute
The Heavenly Mirror
In the arena, the past winners of the tournament must participate, and surrender their heavenly treasures.
If they make it to the top nine, they can keep their treasures, otherwise, they gotta hand it over like a hot potato.
This means that any guardian who wants to win a heavenly treasure must battle the winners of the past nine tournaments, and at least defeat one of them.
Talk about a tough competition!
This whole system was created by the first supreme ruler of the heavenly planes, who was also the creator of those heavenly treasures.
Apparently, it was created for entertainment purposes, and to determine the future representatives of the lower worlds.
The guardians themselves are a product of the will of the lower worlds, and possess exceptional cultivation talents.
It’s still a mystery how the supreme ruler was able to influence the will of the world itself and make such a deal.
But one thing’s for sure, that supreme ruler was not only the creator of this tournament system, but also the nine heavenly treasures themselves.
Must have been one powerful dude or lady, it’s still unclear!
However, the tournaments came to a halt after the disappearance of the supreme ruler.
The celestials altered the formation of the ancient arena, rendering it dysfunctional.
They killed all the existing guardians and snatched their heavenly treasures from them.
After so many years, many treasures disappeared in the vast history, forever unseen.
But even those who found them were not that lucky.
The heavenly treasures were crafted in such a manner that only a being of the lower world could link their soul to the spirit of the treasure.
If any celestial tried to use the heavenly treasures, they would have to pay the price for each use.
Currently, there is only one known heavenly treasure in possession of the Sky God, which is the heavenly staff.
As for the rest of the eight treasures, they were lost in history.
After the disappearance of the first supreme ruler of the heavenly planes, numerous emperors came and went, but none had the willingness to restore the ancient arena.
Initially some celestials feared the wrath of the supreme ruler, if he might return, while others simply didn’t care.
But even with the arena in ruins, the will of the world kept producing talented guardians.
Now, why wouldn’t the celestials just recruit these excessively talented guardians into their sects?
Well, the answer is simple: they can’t.
The guardians have a major limitation β after ascending to become a celestial, they’re not allowed to leave the lower world for an extended period of time.
It’s like being grounded by your mom, but on a cosmic level.
This is also the reason why even with the heavenly treasures in their possession, the guardians were easily butchered by the celestials in the past.
After reaching a certain realm, cultivating in this lower plane becomes too darn hard. So, it’s like having a fancy sword but no arms to wield it.
Thus now these guardians, only served as entertainment purpose of the celestials above, while some celestials took capable guardians as their puppet to have a link to lower world.
The celestials monitor the guardians for any capable puppet.
So now guardians are nothing more than merely puppets of celestials.
Zhang Wei listened in horror as the system explained the history of the guardians and their current state as mere puppets for the celestials above.
He couldn’t bear the thought of being controlled by others and losing his freedom.
Zhang Wei calmly stated, his voice excessively politely, contrasting his words. ‘If I’m going to be a guardian, I’d rather take a swan dive off the nearest cliff than be someone’s puppet. And I’ll make sure to take you with me, dear system!’
The system remained silent, sensing the fear and anxiety in Zhang Wei’s voice.
For the first time, Zhang Wei felt anxious about his future as a guardian.
The System finally chimed in, giving Zhang Wei some much-needed reassurance.
[Oh, the host doesn’t need to worry! You’re not involved with guardians or their pesky restrictions. You can ignore them or dispose of them as you wish!]
Zhang Wei let out a sigh of relief, though he still didn’t fully trust the system.
But what other choice did he have?
Then he remembered the million-dollar question: what about Feng Xinyue? ‘Will her existence be exposed to the celestials if any of their guardians catch sight of us together? They might as well descend from the heavens to personally butcher me.’
Zhang Wei was contemplating throwing Feng Xinyue out of his house and hiding her in a cave somewhere.
He might appear carefree, but in his heart he was well aware of the consequences of eying the celestial princess.
But the system had an answer: [The spell around Feng Xinyue will protect her from those sharp celestials’ eyes. And as for you, the system will make sure your existence is kept secret. You can go around killing guardians without any problem, the system will hide you! Guardians aren’t immortal, they often die, so it shouldn’t arouse much suspicion.]
The system lady spoke with a proud tone, as if to say, “I got you!”
But then she added a caveat: [But be careful, host. The spell won’t work on Sky God. If he’s monitoring any guardian, Feng Xinyue’s existence will be exposed!]
Zhang Wei’s expression changed as he thought of something, ‘I wonder if I can take on Sky God?’
He couldn’t resist confirming his strategy with the system.
[That won’t work.] the system replied flatly.
As Zhang Wei listened to the system’s explanation, he wasn’t exactly surprised.
His strategy was pretty straightforward: hide and play until he reaches the peak of divine immortal level, which is the highest realm possible in this lower world.
Then, he’d purposely reveal his existence to Sky God and tempt him to come down to this world.
The will of this world would limit Sky God’s powers, just like in the case of Feng Xinyue.
Zhang Wei could then take advantage of this opportunity and slay the Sky God.
Unfortunately, it appeared that the Sky God was too powerful to be limited by the will of a small world.
Inviting him down was like inviting death, and he might as well destroy the entire lower plane.
Zhang Wei was still contemplating whether he should keep Feng Xinyue close to him or not.
It was highly unlikely that Sky God would personally monitor some long-abandoned guardians by himself.
The task might be delegated to his underlings, or it might just be some random celestials messing around.
In the end, Zhang Wei decided to take the risk.
However, he would still try his best to not appear in front of any guardian along with Feng Xinyue.
Still, there was something that bothered him. ‘Does Sky God not care about his daughter?’ he wondered.
He didn’t want to look like a scumbag, but if he had a daughter as beautiful as Feng Xinyue, he might as well keep her to himself.
The system replied, [Host is underestimating the Sky God. He is a man obsessed with cultivation, not caring about any material thing! The only reason he might even have children would be to carry forward his legacy. This type of behavior isn’t uncommon among those with immortal life.]
Zhang Wei nodded, pretending to understand everything.
‘Well, at least I don’t have to worry about escaping from that little nizi’s obsessed father,’ he thought to himself.
Since the father didn’t seem to give a damn about his daughter, Zhang Wei decided to teach her a new word.
‘Why not have her address me as Daddy?’ he chuckled to himself.
The Sky God himself would cough up blood and die if he heard such bold words coming from Zhang Wei.
But hey, he couldn’t resist the chance to mess with the little girl’s head, while she is still helpless.

Is the novel going the route where Zhang Wei will hunt other protagonists? Not exactly… As you can see, I am trying to do something different.
On another note, Zhang Wei has no relations with being a guardian, he have book of destiny due to other reasons.
The Dragon Lady is still virgin Β° o Β°
