Chapter 564 Severus Completes His Training
( War Log : Day 3 )
There were no major conflicts breaking out in the first two days of the war.
As far as Max was notified the light faction had not lost any orb in these three days after the betrayal they suffered early on, however, the dark faction did lose two orbs in total as the angel scouts who were authorised to take down the orbs if they felt that the enemy defences were inadequate managed to take down two orbs from ranged attacks.
Sebastian was finally back from his scouting mission and the information he shared was slightly concerning to say the least.
The enemy had a large area illusion spell in place which duplicated the orb to make it look like an entire field was filled with thousands of orbs.
The area was defended by 7 tier5 warriors which meant that AOE spells that could devastate the whole area would be neutralised before they could hit for sure.
Individually eliminating the orbs would be tedious and leave one potentially open to counter-attacks while their focus was on destroying the orbs, however that wasn’t the biggest problem.
The biggest problem was the fact that just like the Bloodfall clan the enemy Red-Foot clan had also set up traps and stations within the forest which was the only path for marching towards their lands.
Crossing the woods would take time and once the enemy was alerted about an advancing march, they could reinforce the forest troops while also calling for reinforcements from other clans.
The affair could get messy and result in grave loss of life.
In a war that could potentially last for months or years, Max felt hesitant to make such a rash move so early into the fight.
” My lord- ”
Max’s thoughts were interrupted by DarkSorrow who seemed to have came back with some critical information.
” Come in ” Max said as he allowed DarkSorrow into the tent.
” The enemy has taken the bait, about 80,000 strong can be seen marching through the woods ” DarkSorrow said as he gave Max the good news that the enemy had bought the false news he had planted.
” Only 80,000? ” Max asked as he felt a little regretful that the party sent by the enemy was so small.
His fake report did suggest that only 20,000 odd troops were looking after the forest area, however, he expected the enemy to send in more troops.
” What about the leader? Who is leading this regiment? ” Max asked hoping that the enemy would atleast send a tier5 warrior.
” They have sent two tier5 Red-Foot demons as the leaders of the regiment and the quality composition of the rest of the troops is also very high.
Although it’s not a large force, it is a strong one that would not make tactical mistakes under duress.
But we are ready for them, in about half a days time they will start clashing against our most forward stationed troops and will realise that the Bloodfall clan is not to be trifled with ” DarkSorrow reported
Max squinted his eyes as he tried to think of a plan that would give him an edge to counterattack after eliminating this attacking legion, however, could not think of anything concrete.
” I guess it’s time to consult the old man ” Max said as he felt a bit guilty for having grown over-reliant on the old man’s wisdom as of late. 𝘣𝘦𝑑𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘦𝑙.𝘯𝑒𝘵

( Meanwhile Severus )
Severus had just completed his training to learn the secrets of the Saint-Maximus clan as he was now officially the next in line to become the patriarch.
He progressed further through tier5 and was now a master of both hearing and whispering as he could do the same trick as Sam where he could calm or enrage a crowd using his words.
It was a dirty trick that made the Saint Maximus so feared.
They could potentially stir crowds into rebellion, start political movements anonymously or influence the morale of entire armies.
The master of whispers, that was the title of the progenitor of the Saint Maximus Clan, Sir John Saint Maximus.
People always assumed that it was the hearing ability that got him this name, however, only a select few knew about the true nature of the Saint Maximus ability even amongst the Saint Maximus clan.
The downside to the skill was that it shaved off one’s vitality.
For mortals, overusing the skill meant certain death, while for god’s it could still make them frail and weak.
The larger the crowd the more energy it required and even Sam used it sparingly.
None of that mattered for Severus at the moment however, because the war had already started and the late completion of his training meant that he was already late to the party.
He needed to rush to the Battlefront and support the Bloodfall clan, but before he did that he needed to give his God-Daughter a book which recorded the secrets of the Nightblade clan.
Severus had always known that the Nightblade clan was special, that their ability to see in the dark and heal passively under the moonlight was too powerful a Bloodline ability to have originated from a mediocre clan, however, there were never any public records about the Nightblade clan to support his curiosity.
The reason behind why Regus was looking to take a Nightblade as his wife-
The reason behind why that bastard Marcus Aurelius was so obsessed with Asiva-
It all made sense now!
Even the Saint Maximus had this secret sealed as highly sensitive and only the elders and the patriarch had access to it.
Now that Severus knew, he couldn’t keep Asiva in the dark about it, so he decided to steal the book about the records of the Nightblade clan and leave it with Asiva to read before he went to the battlefield.
He knew it was against the Saint Maximus laws to steal a classified book, but he couldn’t care less in this instance.
He knew in his heart that his God-Daughter deserved to know and that until he became the patriarch the other elders would never allow him to bring her here to read the book which was why it was absolutely necessary for him to steal it.
If the other Saint Maximus wanted to kick up a fuss about it, they could talk to Sam or hold him accountable for treason after the war was over, but until then this book was staying with her God-Daughter.
