Chapter 1078: The War Forge Assembly (4)
‘I now see why Julian decided to act mysterious this time around.’ By the time he was done looking through the description of the armor Ylvar was wearing, Byron had an amused smile on his face as he listened to the proposal his friend was giving.
Having attended all of the War Forge Assemblies that came before the current one, Byron more or less already had an idea of what Julian was proposing, which was a specific set of armor that would empower both the offensive and defensive capabilities of those in the frontlines.
Though the man did not show what kind of armor it was specifically, the blueprints and the specifications Julian had given to the other directors back then was more than enough of an idea for them to get an idea of his vision.
Because of that, they were more than certain that a set of armor like that would definitely set off waves once implemented in the frontlines, easily tipping the scales of the war to their favor just because of their existence.
After all, not only would the set of armor give a significant boost to one’s strength through its awakened stats and its innate boosting skill, it would give a significant boost to one’s strength through the sole fact that it could be worn by those at a lower level.
However, even though the armor set Julian had shown in the last couple of War Forge Assemblies had definitely shown a few of those concepts in action, it was not at a level that warranted the mass approval of the directors attending the meeting.
If anything, they felt that the armor the man had shown them would only allow those supporting the frontlines to benefit.
Of course, such thoughts immediately disappeared the moment the directors’ eyes laid upon the armor Valyr was wearing.
Not only was the rarity of the armor set Epic+ grade, but it also boasted both Defense stats and awakened stats that made some of the directors want a set of their own.
Then again, the allure of the stats paled in comparison to the skills that were attached to the armor itself, with the first one among them immediately piquing many of the directors’ interests.
“I must say, Director Byron. You’ve made the right call in bringing our attention to such an exquisite piece of armor,” said the director beside him, with many of the directors around him nodding in agreement.
“Then again, that does beg the question. Considering the proposal your friend had shown in the previous meeting, how did he progress his idea to this extent?” asked one of the other directors not long after, which surprisingly made Byron silent as well.
At first, he was just glad that his friend’s proposal was finally going to be accepted, getting the feeling that it would become the de facto armor that signified one’s involvement with the frontlines.
However, comparing the progress Julian showed back then to what he showed now, Byron did realize that the man seemed to have skipped a lot of steps in between the two meetings.
After pondering over it for a bit, it did not take long for him to come up with a plausible answer, his gaze briefly on the young man that stood beside his friend because of it.
Though, just as he was about to voice some of the ideas he went over in his mind to the directors surrounding him, the man received a message from someone he didn’t expect. Then again, the message he received wasn’t something he was expecting either.
“I’m currently at the Imperial Production Guild,” wrote Mystia in her message to him. “If you’re wondering what I’m doing here, then it would have something to do with the War Forge Assembly that’s currently ongoing.”
Gathering his thoughts after getting over the shock Mystia’s message gave him, Byron informed the other directors to not disturb him for a bit as he soon responded back. “Will you be attending the assembly in person, then?”
“That’s the plan,” replied Mystia not long after, prompting the man to wonder what would cause such an important person like her to show up in what was effectively a small meeting.
Thankfully, her next message shed some light on the curiosity he felt, prompting his gaze to eventually land on the two currently up on stage.
“In any case, I heard that a certain young man by the name of Ylvar is currently proposing a couple of special things in that War Forge Assembly.”
“If you could help his proposals get accepted during this meeting, perhaps I might concoct a potion or two for you. Believe me when I say that the current state of the war would instantly change for the better if they get implemented.”
“Either way, I’ll talk to you soon.”
After double-checking to see if Mystia would send him another message, Byron eventually closed the chat screen in his mind as he softly sighed.
Not wanting to think too much about the things the Imperial Alchemist told him, the man decided to talk about his thoughts regarding Julian’s proposal with the other directors, slowly nudging their opinions to become more positive the more he talked.
Of course, the man also continued to pay attention to the words Julian spoke, briefly glancing at Ylvar every once in a while as he wondered what exactly the young man did to rope Mystia to his side.
Thankfully, it did not take long for the answer to his question to appear, with Julian grinning as he dropped a statement that left most, if not all of the directors at a loss for words. “…Just so you know, the armor you see before you was made by Ylvar himself.”
“In fact, the idea for the proposal I’ve shared with you all this time initially came about because of his armor.”
Silence.
The moment those words left Julian’s mouth, almost all of the directors shifted their gazes towards Valyr in silence.
In fact, Elder Alvin, the general, and the secretary also looked at him in silence, their expressions that of slight surprise as they could not believe what they were hearing.
Looking at the audience for a brief moment, Valyr eventually let out a faint sigh as he nudged Julian on the side.
“Mind if I say something about the armor?”
As this question left the young man’s mouth, Julian looked back at Valyr in response, only to nod after a bit of thought.
Nodding back as he briefly gave the man a look of gratitude, Valyr took a few steps forward as he sorted out the thoughts in his mind.
Taking a deep breath to quell his nervousness, he looked at the directors one more time before opening his mouth.
“Greetings, directors of the Blacksmith Guild. Greetings, Elder Alvin, General Cain, and Chief Secretary Erwan. My name is Ylvar, an Honorary Lesser Elder of the Algerie Kingdom branch of the Blacksmith Guild.”
“Though I feel like I’m somewhat overstepping my bounds when I say things, I would like to give people a better idea of what Director Julian is proposing…”
“The armor set that I’ve painstakingly created…”
“The armor set that will turn the tides of war in our favor.”
