Chapter 1080 The War Forge Assembly (6)
1080 The War Forge Assembly (6)
As those words left Valyr’s mouth, a few of the directors began to frown in response, finding his words incredibly arrogant.
As far as many of them knew, the ranged weapon Vylhalteinn created was made with the knowledge he’d gained from the inheritance he entered, distributing it among those in the frontlines in the hopes that it would turn the tides of war in their favor.
At first, many of the directors of the Blacksmith Guild found Vylhalteinn’s weapon a crude mimicry of what true blacksmiths were able to achieve, a mockery of the hard work they’d put into their craft.
Yet, once they had the opportunity to examine the weapon in detail and test it out, they soon understood the ingenuity behind the weapon Vylhalteinn had shown them, realizing that its simplicity was deceptive.
Aside from that, they also realized that the weapon was relying with concepts that were a bit beyond what their current Technology Trees had reached, causing some of them to wonder what other knowledge Vylhalteinn had gained from the inheritance.
Considering the effort and the knowledge needed to even create the weapon Vylhalteinn made in the first place, it was no surprise that many of the directors quickly doubted the young man’s words.
Of course, Valyr eventually realized this as well, bitterly smiling as he thought about how he’d be able to salvage this situation.
‘To be honest, I should’ve expected them to be doubtful of my words from the get-go. After all, all of them don’t really know what happened in the Four Pillars’ Inheritance,’ thought the young man to himself, taking in a deep breath as he looked at the current situation from a rational perspective.
‘Aside from that, Hal left the inheritance far earlier than me. With a bit of common sense, it’s no surprise that more people are inclined to believe that he was the one who invented the arquebus… even though he really didn’t.’
‘I think I believed in the directors a bit too much after how smoothly Julian’s proposal went,’ inwardly muttered Valyr to himself, reminding himself that this was his first time meeting most of the directors in the hall.
‘In any case, I have to make them believe in my words somehow.’
As these words lingered in his mind, the young man inwardly let out a faint sigh, gaining newfound respect towards Julian’s tenacity in making sure his proposal was accepted.
At the same time, the gears in his mind began turning, slowly coming up with a plan to start shifting things back in his favor.
Sending a message to Hal about the current situation, Valyr split part of his attention back to the audience as he continued where he left off. “Of course, I wouldn’t be surprised if the directors are doubtful of my words.”
“However, what if I told you that I entered the Four Pillars’ Inheritance at the same time Vylhalteinn did?” asked the young man soon after, his gaze soon shifting towards Elder Alvin. “I’m certain the Imperial Production Guild can confirm my claims.”
As the directors of the various Blacksmith Guild branches began to discuss with one another regarding Valyr’s words, Elder Alvin could not help but look at the young man with a slight frown on his face, uncertain as to why he was being dragged into the discussion.
Fortunately, with a bit of rummaging through his memories, the elder soon realized what was going on, his eyes widening in surprise as he looked at Valyr once more.
Conjuring a nigh-imperceptible strand of mana, the elder infused a message into it that was received by Valyr not long after.
“Wait a second… are you perhaps… the Herald?”
Hearing the elder’s voice echo in his mind, Valyr smiled in response as he gave the old man a faint nod.
“That would be me, indeed,” sent Valyr back to the elder in an energy strand of his own. “Though I have prepared a few plans for situations like these, it would be great if I could also obtain your assistance.”
“It would be my pleasure to help you,” replied the elder through another strand, prompting him to make his way up the stage soon after.
“Let me handle this.”
Seeing as Elder Alvin was heading up the stage, many of the directors stopped their discussions, instead focusing their attention on what he had to say.
Knowing that the elder had definitely gone up to say something about the current situation, the directors were left at a slight loss for words as they did not expect the words that came out of the elder’s mouth.
“As all of you may know, I am the vice head of the Imperial Production Guild’s Blacksmith Division,” said Elder Alvin, his expression the definition of calm. “However, what you may not know is that I am also the division’s representative for the guild’s Ancestral Council, the council that’s mainly responsible for the selection of representatives for the Four Pillars’ Inheritance.”
“As part of the council, I can confirm that Ylvar’s words are the truth,” continued the man, prompting looks of shock to appear on some of the directors’ faces. “He is indeed the representative the Blacksmith Guild sent for the inheritance, with Vylhalteinn being the representative of the Sage Guild.”
“I can also confirm the veracity of Ylvar’s claim.” Getting a rough idea of what was going on, Julian decided to step forward as well to give Valyr’s words more credibility. “After all, I was the one who chose him to become the guild’s representative for the Four Pillars’ Inheritance.”
With both the elder and Julian confirming Valyr’s claims, the opinions of the other directors slowly began to shift, with some of them now warming up to what the young man had told them earlier.
However, that still left the majority who were still skeptical.
“How can we be so sure that this current situation isn’t all an act?” asked one of the more doubtful directors within the assembly, to which many responded back with sounds of agreement.
Ding!
Getting a notification from the system just as that question was thrown out, Valyr went ahead and took a look at it, only for him to let out a faint chuckle once he was done.
Shifting his gaze towards the one that just spoke, the young man had a confident smile on his face as he asked, “Would it be possible for you to introduce yourself before I answer your question?”
Thankfully, the man that spoke up did not mind, nodding as he opened his mouth. “Altem Vilnas, director of the Charlton Kingdom Blacksmith Guild.”
“Director Altem.” Valyr nodded back in thanks. “You mentioned that there’s the possibility for the current situation to all be an act. Could you perhaps give us an idea as to how we could prove that?”
Feeling the attention of all the other directors now on him because of that, the man surprisingly backpedaled as he replied in a slight stammer, “Don’t get me wrong. You’ve already shown sufficient proof to remove most of the doubts behind your claim.”
“However, it would be great if there was more proof.”
“More proof, huh?” Valyr chuckled in amusement as he soon dropped a statement that made some of the directors doubt their hearing.
“Would Vylhalteinn appearing in this meeting be enough proof for you, then?”
