Chapter 1150 Without Much Fanfare

1150  Without Much Fanfare

“Never thought this time would come, eh?” Responding to Valyr’s question, You gave the young man a grim smile as he began to flare out his aura. “Call it your just deserts.”

“My just deserts? You two?” Taking out a stamina potion from his spatial bracelet, Valyr downed it in one gulp as he scoffed. “Do you really think I’d pay attention to you two if not for the fact that you two insisted me on joining your War Squad?”

“You better be thankful we’re allowing you to join our War Squad!” exclaimed You, letting the fury and shame he felt do the talking. “If not, you’d just be some no-name guy who wouldn’t amount to much on the battlefield!”

“Some no-name guy, huh?” Sensing the aura You was giving off, Valyr felt a hint of amusement at the man’s words as he affixed his spear behind his back.

Then, taking out the magic staff he’d recently forged, he spared a glance at Zuo, who seemed to have different thoughts regarding the situation.

Deciding to leave Zuo for later, Valyr returned his gaze back at You as he asked, “Do you really think I wouldn’t get anywhere without joining your War Squad or something?”

“Isn’t that obvious?” You let out a scoff as he looked at Valyr with disdain. “I’m a Colonel, while my brother here’s a Major. With our ranks, it’s only a matter of time before we stand at the top!”

“Since you don’t want to join us, then I guess you’re better off not joining any other War Squad at all!”

Whoosh!

With You’s anger finally reaching its peak, it was only then did the man make a move, infusing energy into his fists as he sent out a barrage of strikes at Valyr.

In response to that, the young man took a couple steps back as he conjured a barrier in front of him.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Unsurprisingly, none of You’s strikes were able to pierce through the barrier Valyr made. Though, that only incensed the man even further.

“Raaaggghhhh!!!”

Seemingly activating a stat-boosting skill amidst his rage, You punched the barrier with far greater force, causing it to quake every once in a while in response.

Nevertheless, the barrier continued to hold up against the man’s strikes, with Valyr only needing to infuse a bit more energy to do so.

By the time a couple minutes had passed, it was only then did the young man decide to make a move in retaliation, dispelling the barrier the moment You had exhausted all of his energy.

Shooting a glance at Zuo to not make a move, Valyr slowly made his way in front of You before pointing the tip of his staff on the latter’s chest. Searᴄh the NôvelFire(.)net website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“You know… I’ve been getting the feeling that there’s something off with your words earlier.” As these words left the young man’s mouth, he began to circulate Prime Azure Energy throughout his body.

“It’s only a matter of time before you stand at the top? Sure, I guess that might happen at some point.”

Then, infusing the energy with the element of Wind, he then channeled it into the magic staff.

“However, do you really think I’d let that happen?”

Seeing You visibly shudder in response to his words, the young man immediately knew that he’d turned their relationship from bad to worse, turning it into something irreconcilable.

Letting out a sigh because of it, Valyr went ahead and activated the skill he prepared beforehand without hesitation as he noticed that You was about to attack him once more.

“[Four Paths Azure Elemental Arts].”

“[Azure Dragon’s Breath]!”

Fwoosh!

In less than an instant, a beam of azure and green wind shot out from the tip of Valyr’s magic staff, immediately sending You flying off the platform before he could even ball his fists.

Whoosh!

Focusing his perception towards the space beyond the platform, it was only when Valyr got a sign that You returned to Veldanyr did he feel a bit of relief.

Though, that immediately disappeared once he shifted his gaze towards the man who watched the entire situation unfold in front of him.

As a wry smile crept up on his lips, Valyr asked Zuo, “Do you think I made the right choice?”

In response, Zuo flashed a wry smile of his own. “As his brother, I’d say you could’ve handled it differently.”

“However, as a bystander to the situation, I’d say you were left with no choice but to do it, considering how adamant he was in his ways.”

“Don’t you blame me for what I did?” asked Valyr after that, surprised that Zuo wasn’t all that mad with actions. “Don’t you feel the same way as your brother?”

“At first, I did feel that way.” Zuo nodded, only to wryly smile once more. “After all, you’re the first person to really do something like that to us.”

“But as time passed, I realized that there isn’t really a good reason to get mad at you,” he continued. “So what if you rejected our invitation to our War Squad? It’s not like that would cause our plans to come to a grinding halt.”

“That just means we’d have to spend a bit more time, if not a lot more time than before.” Zuo shrugged his shoulders after that. “If it wasn’t already obvious, I’m not that mad.”

“Annoyed at first? Sure. But mad? Nah.”

As these words left his mouth, Zuo looked at Valyr with a bitter smile. “…Though I’m pretty sure my brother isn’t going to take that lying down, especially after what you did.”

“I’ve already thought about that before I made a move,” said Valyr with a slightly bitter smile. “Whatever happens, happens, I guess.”

After talking for a bit more, Zuo eventually decided to jump off the platform out of his own volition, wishing Valyr good luck before doing so.

As for the seven other people that remained after the whole fiasco involving Zuo and You, all but one of them realized that it was better not to get on Valyr’s bad side, eventually choosing to make the same decision as Zuo did earlier.

Of course, there wasn’t much fanfare when Valyr took care of the only other person on the platform, deciding to use the same skill he used on You to send the man off the platform.

And with that, his participation in the fourth round came to a close.

I mean… it was a one-sided rivalry, after all.
