MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

Chapter 1802 1802: Communing with the Void Core (1)

At the exact moment Xervei had wished him the best of luck, Valyr felt his consciousness be transported to a space far away from the Shadow Plane.

For a moment, he felt his connection with the Shadow Plane waver, wondering if this was the reason why the Overseer had amplified it in the first place.

Though, once the strength of that connection returned to normal, the young man immediately understood.

Especially after coming face to face with the large structure in front of him.

‘Is this… the Void Core?’ he asked himself, a hint of doubt appearing on his face.

After all, the previous time he had come in contact with anything related to the Shadowsource, it had appeared to him in the form of a small speck of light.

Yet, now that he had appeared in front of the Void Core, it decided to take on the form of a large structure instead?

‘…Calm down.’ Realizing that he was arriving to conclusions too quickly, the young man closed his eyes for a bit as he took a deep breath to compose himself.

Then, making use of his amplified connection with the Shadow Plane, he swept his senses over the structure, hoping to figure out if the structure was indeed the Void Core or not.

‘…Huh.’

At first, when the young man swept his senses over it, he felt as if the structure was in a space that was completely separate from the space he was currently in.

But, as he continued to scan the entire structure, the more he felt this separation weakening.

By the time he had swept his senses over every nook and cranny of the entire structure, he felt that the structure now existed in the same space as in, giving off an aura that he was already more than familiar with.

‘Void Energy…’

Coming to this conclusion, Valyr looked at the structure way ahead of him in both shock and disbelief.

Back when he had come across the small speck of light that signified the Shadowsource, the young man felt as if he were communing with the entire Shadow Plane the moment he made contact with it.

On the other hand, even though both he and the structure now existed in the same space, the young man felt like he wouldn’t get the same reaction if he were to make contact with it.

‘I suppose it’s by design?’ he asked, moving around the space to look at the entire structure in greater detail.

In terms of its overall design, the structure looked like a giant stone monolith that had parts of its surface carved out to form small flights of stairs.

Though, rather than be an entire whole, the structure was split into nine different segments, with each segment significantly smaller than the one below it.

Then again, even though the structure was made up of these nine segments, there seemed to be something intangible tying them together, giving it a sense of coherence and unity that Valyr could not make heads or tails of yet.

Of course, the young man had a feeling that his greatest gain here would be to understand the intangible thing tying the structure together.

However, there was a problem.

He didn’t even know how he’d start understanding the structure in the first place.

‘Well, no one’s really born knowing anything from the get-go,’ said Valyr to console himself as he scratched the back of his head. ‘But I should really pick a direction on how to approach it at the very least.’

At those words, the young man took another look at the structure, hoping to find a clue of some sort that would allow him to get an idea of where to start his attempt of comprehending the structure.

Fortunately, after looking at the nine segments for a while, he sensed that the smallest segment seemed to form a connection with every other segment through that intangible existence.

Thinking that the smallest segment was the starting point because of this, he went ahead and sent his senses towards it.

Only to be bombarded with a near endless amount of information not even a second later.

Bang!

To no surprise, Valyr immediately felt his mind beginning to crumble the moment this influx of information tried to force its way in.

Fearing that he would be swallowed up by it if he were to let it continue even a second longer, the young man shifted his focus away from the smallest segment, causing the influx to stop not long after.

‘Fuck me…’ Inwardly letting out a sigh of relief, the young man took in a couple of deep breaths as he thought about what happened just now. ‘Shouldn’t have given it all of my focus if I knew that was gonna happen.’

Taking a couple more deep breaths after that to further compose himself, Valyr then closed his eyes for a bit as he tried to go through some of the bits and pieces of information that remained in his mind after the influx.

‘Almost all of it seems to be related to the tiers of Shadow Energy,’ muttered the young man to himself as he continued to look through them one by one. ‘However, most of it contains information on a realm of Shadow Energy I haven’t even begun to comprehend yet.’

Realizing this, the young man began to discard information that fell under that criterion, slowly but surely collecting a bunch of information related to both Shadow Energy and Void Energy.

Looking at the two piles he had separated in his mind, the young man glanced at the structure for a bit as the gears in his mind began to turn.

‘Since Xervei wants me to get closer to obtaining Abyssal Energy, then it only makes sense that I should focus on deepening my comprehension over Void Energy,’ he said to himself. ‘After all, only by fully understanding Void Energy would I be able to transform it into Abyssal Energy.’

‘However, it also wouldn’t be a bad idea for me to start comprehending from the very basics and work my way up,’ he continued. ‘Though Elder Noel and Sellifer helped me transform my Shadow Energy into Void Energy, I only know the ‘how’ of it and not the ‘why’.’

‘Hmm…’

Weighing the pros and cons of both options, Valyr felt like it would be in his best interest to focus on Void Energy at first.

Though, as he gave it a bit more thought, he chose to start with deepening his comprehension of Shadow Energy instead.

‘Xervei said that the Void Core would allow me to solidify my foundations in preparation for Abyssal Energy by deepening my understanding of Void Energy.’

‘But how would I deepen my understanding of Void Energy if I don’t even have a good understanding of the energy that Void Energy is made out of?’

With that in mind, Valyr sent his senses towards the smallest segment of the structure once more.

However, this time, he now had a proper course of action.
