Chapter 811 Four Pillars: Heading Back
Chapter 811 Four Pillars: Heading Back
With how many questions Valyr had going on in his mind after his conversation with Vaughn, it went without saying that the young man had spent a long amount of time fighting against the feral humans.
“Graagghh!!!”
“Aggh!!!”
Venting out his frustrations at the feral humans for having to wait until he entered the Gates of Transcendence to obtain his answers, Valyr did not hesitate to go all out, always aiming for the kill whenever the feral humans targeted him.
Then again, with most of the core skills forming his combat style being maxed thanks to the Realm of Myriad Experiences, it would be more apt to say that he was always aiming for the kill whether the feral humans were targeting him or not.
In the end, by the time there was only half an hour of sunlight left, Valyr had consumed over a dozen health and mana potions each.
At the same time, he had killed enough feral humans to bring his authority within the Gates of Awakening to Level 9, even killing a bit extra to make a bit of headway into reaching Level 10.
“Haah.”
Letting out a long and drawn-out exhale as he stared at the aftermath of his actions, Valyr felt as if all of the frustrations from the conversation had all disappeared without a trace.
Taking a few deep breaths to compose himself, he then washed off the blood that coated both him and his weapon with a few Water-based spells.
Seeing that there was still time before he needed to return to their temporary camp, the young man decided to get some rest at a nearby building before opening up his party chat.
Unsurprisingly, Valyr asked the two how they were faring, as well as how much progress they had made in leveling up their authority.
After waiting for a couple of minutes, Hal and Vera soon responded that they were able to raise their authority by three levels, bringing their original authority of Level 2 up to Level 5.
Mentioning afterward that they would return to the camp once they had reached an authority level of 6, Hal then asked Valyr through the chat regarding a certain something that he found peculiar.
Mentioning afterward that they would return to the camp once they had reached an authority level of 6, Hal then asked Valyr through the chat regarding a certain something that he found peculiar.
Recalling the talk he had with Vaughn about the Gates of Transcendence, the young man already had a strong hunch as to what it was.
With that, he responded that he would talk about it in greater detail once they were all back at the camp.
“Man…” Letting out a low sigh, Valyr scratched the back of his head as he closed the party chat.
Not long after, he got up from where he rested before proceeding to head back to their temporary camp.
“[Arcane Shadow Serpent Movement Style].”
“[Arcane Shadow Drive].”
Whoosh!
With many thoughts and questions still lingering in his mind, the young man arrived at the camp just a few minutes before sunset, deciding to make dinner for the three of them in advance.
…
With Valyr’s [Advanced Cooking] doing most of the heavy lifting, it only took around an hour or so for the young man to cook up a few dishes that he was certain would whet everyone’s appetite.
However, it was only after an additional hour of waiting did both Hal and Vera return to the camp, their appearances more than haggard after all of the fighting they did.
Unsurprisingly, at the very moment they caught a whiff of the young man’s cooking, Hal and Vera quickly grabbed themselves a couple plates of food as they gorged them down with gusto.
Chuckling at the sight of the two merrily eating the food he cooked, Valyr sat near the two as he reminded them to wash up.
After that, he grabbed a plate of food for himself before proceeding to dig in as well.
For the next few minutes after that, the three were utterly silent, their attentions wholly focused on the food that they were eating.
It was only after all of them had gotten seconds did the place become a bit noisy once more, with the three talking about the things they did during the day.
Of course, with the advent of the authority increasing quest, it went without saying that all of them had spent most of the day killing feral humans.
With that, the three of them shared a few tips and tricks with one another on how they could fight against feral humans with greater ease.
At some point, the three even talked about strategies on how they would fight against the feral humans as a trio, feeling like it was something that was expected of them to do at some point.
“Speaking of which, what authority level are you at right now, Valyr?” Hal asked at some point, recalling how he and Vera had already shared their current authority level.
“Level 7,” said Valyr back, causing the two to do a bit of mental gymnastics in silence as they tried to calculate the young man’s original authority level.
“So… Level 3 or Level 4?”
“Level 3.”
“Damn,” said Hal in response to Valyr’s words. “How did you kill so much feral humans?”
“A lot of skills with wide areas of effect,” replied Valyr with a grin. “Of course, to increase their effectiveness, a lot of stat boosting skills as well.”
Talking about fighting feral humans for a bit more, Hal eventually brought up the topic that Valyr set aside earlier in their party chat, prompting the latter’s expression to become solemn.
“So, here’s the thing.” Hal looked at Valyr directly in the eyes. “Remember how when we were attempting to enter the Gates of Awakening, we got an additional quest after completing one of the authority increasing quests?”
In response, Valyr nodded.
Though, at the same time, he inwardly let out a sigh, thinking that his earlier assumption was correct.
“We also got authority increasing quests this time for the Gates of Awakening,” said Hal. “However, we’ve already cleared the quest three times in a row yet there’s still no quest involving the requirements needed to enter the Gates of Transcendence.”
“What do you think is the reason for that?”
“Hmm…” Valyr rubbed his chin, the gears in his mind turning as he came up with a reasonable excuse. “Perhaps you might need to reach an authority level of 10 first within the Gates of Awakening before getting the quest?”
“After all, there’s nothing in the inheritance that you’ll get a similar quest through a similar action.” He shrugged.
“You do have a point…” Hal nodded after giving it a bit of thought. “But I still feel like the three organizations being consistent makes a lot of sense.”
With that, the three shifted their topic towards talking about the possible reasons why they hadn’t gotten a quest that would allow them to enter the Gates of Transcendence.
In the end, the three had arrived at a dead end in their conversation, prompting them to head back to their tents amidst their slight frustrations for the meantime to get some rest.
But of course, there was an exception among the three of them.
Whoosh!
“Time to head back to the Gates of Awakening.”
