Chapter 814 Four Pillars: Resonance
Chapter 814 Four Pillars: Resonance
While Vaughn was in the midst of admiring the Hall of Legends and Myths in its entirety, Valyr looked at the man’s back with confusion, simultaneously understanding and not understanding what the man had just told him.
With that, the young man moved closer to the entrance, eventually standing beside Vaughn as the interior of the Hall of Legends and Myths was revealed before him.
Of course, with the sight readily available to him, Valyr could not extricate his eyes from it that easily, especially with how beautiful the interior was.
Then again, even the word beautiful was an oversimplification of the level of grandeur the building had.
With the entire building being made up of five massive cylindrical halls, the Hall of Legends and Myths had large domes acting as its roofs, reminding Valyr of a few landmarks that he had seen back on Earth.
The walls of the building looked to be made out chiseled white marble, the carvings on its surface reminding him of the natural ebb and flow of the many rivers he had seen in both his past and current life.
As for the domes themselves, their color reminded Valyr of newly fired pottery, prompting him to wonder whether the domes had yet to be glazed or if they were chosen to be that color.
Redirecting his sight from the building itself, the young man soon greeted himself with the sight of hundreds upon hundreds of weapons and various equipment.
From swords to spears, staffs to knuckles, it seemed as if the Hall of Legends and Myths was just a massive repository of powerful weapons that those in the Gates of Awakening could borrow at any time.
However, if one were to peer deeper into the weapons, one would notice the powerful auras being emanated by the weapons, making it seem like the entire Hall of Legends and Myths was a massive jungle.
And the weapons themselves were fighting for its territory.
In fact, after looking at the inside for a bit longer, Valyr noticed that the weapons were arranged in a specific pattern, with the weapons at the center of the hall emanating a near-suffocating aura to him.
Then, working his way outwards, the weapons radiated less and less of an aura, to the point where the weapons near the entrance radiated a decent aura, but was still in many ways lacking when compared to the weapons at the center.
Shaking his head a couple of times to move his gaze away from the Hall of Legends and Myths, Valyr took in a deep breath before asking the question he had in mind to the man beside him.
Fortunately, Vaughn responded back to him on the very first time he asked the question, allowing the young man to inwardly let out a sigh of relief as he listened intently to the man’s explanation.
To sum things up, what Vaughn planned on doing was more or less similar to what Valyr planned on doing in order to break the news to the two that they wouldn’t be able to enter the Gates of Transcendence.
However, rather than rely on his own words and the trust they’ve built up, Vaughn planned on making use of something more reliable.
Which was the system itself.
By issuing quests that reminded the two of the journey they took to enter the Gates of Awakening, Vaughn would slowly lead them to realizing that only one would be chosen to enter the Gates of Transcendence.
Of course, it went without saying that Valyr would cooperate in that regard, especially after Vaughn said that he’d control the inheritance to make it seem like he had been chosen by the heavens.
Though, as he took pity in the fact that the two just weren’t meant to enter the final organization in the Triad Gates, Vaughn decided to reward the two opportunities to enter the Hall of Legends and Myths after completing the quests he’d given them.
“After all, they weren’t able to complete the nine trials unlike you,” said Vaughn as he ended his explanation. “The fact that they would be able to inherit a path that would naturally allow them to become a Legend is definitely more than enough for them.”
“Speaking of which, I suppose you’re here to claim that, huh,” added the man not long after, receiving a nod from Valyr in response.
Nodding back, Vaughn then told him, “Normally, the voice within the place will tell you what to do. But since I’m here, I’ll do that instead.”
“In any case, it’s pretty simple.” The man slightly shrugged in nonchalance. “Take a few steps into the actual Hall of Legends and Myths and radiate your aura to its fullest.”
“When I mean to its fullest, I really mean you should go all out.” Vaughn looked at Valyr. “Activate all of the status boosting skills in your arsenal and bolster your strength to its limits.”
“Only then would you be able to obtain the attention of the weapons nearer to the center of the hall.”
At those words, Vaughn explained that although the Hall of Legends and Myths was a place for members of the Gates of Awakening to inherit the paths of those that came before them, the direction of the inheritance was actually the other way around.
According to him, only by showing the strength one has accrued and the path one has taken to get to their current point would the weapons in the hall begin to respond, forming a resonance of sorts that would allow them to inherit said paths.
“I’m pretty sure you have a rough idea of why the weapons are laid out accordingly before you,” said Vaughn as he briefly glanced at the young man. “All I can tell you is that the weapons at the center belong to people whose paths have allowed them to become high-ranked Myths.”
“And those closer to the entrance?” asked Valyr with a hint of curiosity.
“Legends,” said Vaughn back. “Well, to be more exact, Legends that were incredibly close to becoming Myths, but failed at the last minute.”
“Either way, let’s not waste any more time. Show the Hall of Legends and Myths what you’ve got.”
Nodding in response to his words, Valyr took in a deep breath before proceeding to head a bit deeper into the building.
Feeling like he had gone deep enough into the place, the young man took a few more deep breaths for composure before activating all of the status boosting skills in his arsenal.
Whoosh!
Flaring out his aura in its entirety, the young man caused the Hall of Legends and Myths to briefly rumble, as if the building was struggling against the ferocity of the aura Valyr unleashed.
“Such ferocious aura,” muttered Vaughn as his eyes widened in slight disbelief.
Watching the young man continue to unleash his aura throughout the Hall of Legends and Myths, Vaughn soon noticed the weapons inside the hall beginning to respond, their bodies glowing in excitement.
At first, it was the weapons near the entrance of the hall.
Then, gradually, the weapons that woke up got closer and closer to the center.
Eventually, a weapon near the center had woken up in response to Valyr’s aura, prompting a pensive expression to appear on his face.
“I see.”
“The Azure Serpent, huh.”
