Chapter 821 Four Pillars: The Path to Take
Chapter 821 Four Pillars: The Path to Take
After Sellifer calmed down from the excitement at finally being able to go through the rift, the apparition gave her a few reminders and things to note once she was on the other side.
Aside from that, the apparition gave her a few skills that would allow her to adjust more smoothly and comfortably once she was in Veldanyr, telling her that the world she was entering was as unique and as vast as the Shadow Plane itself.
Of course, with her only inheriting part of the inheritance so far, the apparition had also given her a way to return to the Shadow Plane if she needed to, making use of the Shadow Energy within her body.
And so, armed with both a shape-shifting skill and a disguise skill, as well as a few auxiliary skills, she eventually mustered up the courage to walk through the rift that would lead to a world she had yet to explore.
Whoosh!
Stepping into the rift, Sellifer felt the immediate disappearance of Shadow Energy in her surroundings, instead being replaced with the extreme abundance of mana in the air.
Feeling like a fish out of water for a few moments, it took a while for the woman to compose herself, reminding herself of all the things she learned about mana from the apparition.
With that, it did not take long for her to return to her previous condition, finally admiring the surroundings she had found herself in.
“The first time I entered Veldanyr, I felt an innate sense of incongruence whenever I looked around,” said Sellifer beside Valyr all of a sudden, her expression that of slight reminiscence.
“After all, it’s not often that you head to a place that could be considered the exact opposite of what you’ve been in your entire life. If anything, it’s incredibly rare for someone to be given that kind of opportunity.”
“For a while, I felt out of place. I felt like I wasn’t meant to be in Veldanyr,” Sellifer murmured, closing her eyes for a bit.
“However, my affinity for mana said otherwise.”
“Sure, I was born in the Shadow Plane. Even though I was in Veldanyr, I still felt a connection to the plane through the Shadow Energy in my body.”
“But after staying in Veldanyr for quite a long time at this point, all of that incongruence has all but disappeared.”
“Instead, Veldanyr feels the same as the Shadow Plane to me. To me, they’re both filled with a sense of harmony that makes them unique in their own way.”
At those words, she let out a long exhale, filled with a myriad number of emotions that Valyr could not even perceive.
However, if he were to pick one unifying emotion to describe that exhale…
It would be that of relief.
Returning his attention to the sight before them, Valyr watched as the Sellifer below went through the various things the apparition had taught her before going through the rift.
Absorption, circulation, release, and even purification… the woman went through all of those steps to better attune herself to her surroundings, letting out a sigh of relief as she felt the discordance she sensed at first gradually disappear.
Then, taking in a deep breath, she activated one of the very few skills in her arsenal the apparition gave her that ran off mana.
“[Polymorph].”
Whoosh!
Having already taken on a humanoid form with the help of Shadow Energy, Sellifer gradually changed her appearance to become more human with the help of the skill, feeling both Shadow Energy and mana mingle all over her body.
Once more, it made her realize that the two types of energy seemed to have a connection between them, even though their properties were vastly different from one another.
At this point, she felt like she had finally taken a step forward to grasping a greater concept. Though, with the knowledge she had in hand, she had no way to make more headway into it.
With that, she headed towards one of the many human settlements dotted throughout Veldanyr, hoping to obtain a greater understanding of mana by doing so.
However, what she ended up understanding was the culture and nature of Veldanyr, which was a stark contrast to the society the Shadow Plane had exposed her to.
Though the law of the jungle still persisted within Veldanyr, prevalent through its many battlefields and skirmishes, it was more subdued when compared to the Shadow Plane.
Because of that, even though she initially planned to spend around a week or two in Veldanyr to get a better grasp of mana, she instead spent half a decade on the planet, gradually becoming a denizen of the planet itself.
Of course, she still found time to make inroads to understanding mana better, perusing the various public archives and knowledge repositories that were available.
Not only that, but as a bona fide Legend, she was able to converse with other Legends and peak Rank 5 class holders that were well-versed in mana, imparting their knowledge of mana into her.
In fact, she had even made slight progress in finding a way for her to achieve atavism, utilizing all of the methods on atavism she had accrued while spending her time in the military for over 150 years.
Making use of her superb talent, the knowledge and resources she had amassed, as well as the newfound knowledge on mana that she had obtained, Sellifer had surprisingly made great strides in that area that would have already allowed her to achieve a successful atavism if she wanted to.
However, seeing as there was still a lot left to be unearthed thanks to her bouts of introspection, she decided to dig deeper.
In her mind, it was either she ended up gaining nothing even with all her efforts…
Or she ended up with everything she’d ever need.
Feeling like she was at an impasse on her progress to achieving atavism, Sellifer made the somewhat difficult choice to return to the Shadow Plane, updating all of those that were worried about her that she had returned safe and sound.
After spending a bit of time reconciling with others after her disappearance including her parents, she then made her way back to the inheritance, meeting up with the apparition once more with the thought of gaining more information from it.
Being asked by the apparition a couple of questions on how her journey to Veldanyr went, it soon proceeded to continue where the two of them left off, telling Sellifer to purify her mana even further.
This time, she needed to reach the stage of 3rd Cleansing if she wanted to obtain more things from the inheritance.
With that, she focused all of her attention and effort into doing so, making use of the information she had obtained from others while she was in Veldanyr.
At the same time, it gave her an opportunity to gloss over everything she had learned in her life thus far, figuring out connections to various concepts that weren’t originally there.
By the time she had achieved the stage of 2nd Cleansing after spending half a year in the temple, Sellifer’s eyes had opened with a newfound understanding of everything.
Not only that, but she had finally found the path she needed to trek if she wanted to achieve atavism.
The path of true fusion between Shadow Energy and mana.
The path… of the Azure Serpent.
