Chapter 884 Four Pillars: The Final Rewards (1)

Chapter 884  Four Pillars: The Final Rewards (1)

“But…”

For some time, Valyr thought about continuing where their conversation in the barrier left off.

After all, there was still a lot about the entire plan Vaughn had told him that he did not know.

Though, after mulling over it for a bit, the young man decided to delve into the matter some other time.

For one, the task that Vaughn wanted him to complete was something that he felt like he could only make headway in only after he had ascended to the Divine level at the very least.

Aside from that, there was the fact that the barrier the man made that was suppressing the system’s senses had already been dispelled.

With that, if he or Vaughn were to misspeak, then there was the chance of consequences possibly arising.

‘Well, even if I have no idea if what he said about the system always listening on conversation is true or not, it’s always better to be safe than sorry,’ thought Valyr to himself after that, faintly shuddering at the statement once more.

Seeing Vaughn stand before him while looking at him with a grin, the young man swiftly shifted his thoughts to the next topic the former suggested, which were the rewards he would obtain now that he’d entered the Gates of Transcendence.

Of course, it went without saying that Valyr was quite curious as to what kind of rewards the Gates of Transcendence would give him, considering that it was the highest-ranking organization within the Triad Gates.

While wondering what kind of rewards he would get, the young man soon recalled the rewards he had gained from both the Gates of Enlightenment and Awakening, which improved both his combat and technological prowess by leaps and bounds.

With that in mind, Valyr felt that it was only natural for the Gates of Transcendence to take it one step further.

The first thought that came to the young man’s mind was the enhancement of his skills, perhaps the skills that made up his core combat style.

‘Then again, Sellifer already helped me take that final step that the Gates of Enlightenment and Awakening had been leading me towards,’ muttered Valyr to himself inwardly as he slightly frowned.

‘Perhaps, Vaughn would make the Gates of Transcendence enhance my blacksmithing skills instead?’

As he thought about the idea a bit more, Valyr felt that it made quite a lot of sense.

After all, through the Gates of Enlightenment and Awakening, his core combat skills were improved to Rare grade, upgrading from Uncommon grade in terms of rarity.

With that, his blacksmithing skills, which were currently all at Uncommon+ grade, had a high chance of getting the same treatment, even if the improvement was far less substantial than the one for his combat skills.

Pondering over his blacksmithing skills even more, the young man soon thought about the incessant amount of knowledge he’d gained from the Gates of Enlightenment and Awakening on the eras of technology.

Thanks to those two organizations, he had mastered both Basic and Intermediate-level advancements up to the era of the First Industrial Revolution.

If he were to make use of the technology wisely, there was no doubt that he would instantly be ahead by leaps and bounds compared to the greatest blacksmiths currently on Veldanyr.

‘Would I gain access to information up to the Second Industrial Revolution? The Machine Age, perhaps?’ ‘Or better yet… the Atomic Age?’

As these sorts of questions came to mind, Valyr began to look at Vaughn with a hint of expectation in his eyes, curious as to what he would get as the sole being among their group to enter the Gates of Transcendence.

Taking note of the expectation in the young man’s gaze, Vaughn merely chuckled before saying something that immediately dispelled all the excitement Valyr felt from the rewards.

“Now that I think about it, there isn’t really much point in giving you rewards since you’ll become the owner of the inheritance,” said the man, greatly amused at the young man’s immediate change in reaction.

Shrugging his shoulders, he continued, “As the owner of the inheritance, whether you decide to keep everything in the Triad Gates for yourself or give it to others, you’re free to use it however you see fit.”

“Then again… there are some areas within this place that would take a bit of time to access, so how about I give you information on all the areas within the inheritance as your reward?”

At those words, Vaughn stepped closer towards the young man before placing one of his hands on the latter’s forehead.

Whoosh!

Then, without any warning, the man began to directly infuse a great amount of information into Valyr’s mind, telling him of all the secret nooks and crannies that the Four Pillars’ Inheritance contained.

Having experienced the sensation of having large amounts of information shoved into his brain multiple times at this point, it did not take long for the young man to process and organize the information he’d obtained.

Though he looked at Vaughn with a frown at first, once he looked through the information he’d been given, the young man’s expression gradually turned into surprise.

Not long after, this expression turned into shock, only realizing through the information that there really was a lot more that the inheritance had to offer aside from the pieces of information he’d obtained on the Triad Gates before.

“So… are you satisfied?” Seeing the expression on Valyr’s face change in real time, Vaughn let out a bit of laughter as he asked the question.

“Well, if there really is this much stuff left in the Four Pillars’ Inheritance… then I guess there really is no point in giving me any other reward,” said Valyr in response with a faint shrug, even though he inwardly thought otherwise.

“I’m most surprised by the fact that the Gates of Transcendence has stuff I could use, even though it’s the smallest out of all the Triad Gates.”

“Even though I said the Gates of Transcendence was only an organization in name, there were some benefits to it that were truly tangible.” Vaughn smiled in response. “Plus, I had to keep up an appearance back then.”

“Am I really not going to get any other reward?” asked Valyr after that, faintly holding onto the hope that the man was just messing around with him like the other times he did.

Unfortunately, the man’s response shot down those hopes in an instant.

“I don’t really see much point in giving you anything else.”

“You’ve pretty much obtained all of the important stuff the Four Pillars’ Inheritance could offer you in terms of personal improvement,” said Vaughn with a faint shrug. “Plus, with the information I’ve given you, you could obtain all of the other miscellaneous bits and bobs within the inheritance that could help push it a bit further.” “I see…” Hearing that, the young man faintly nodded, inwardly letting out a long sigh as he briefly admonished himself for getting his hopes up.

Seeing Valyr’s expression turn sullen, Vaughn inwardly let out a chuckle as he thought about his next words would undoubtedly make Valyr excited again. S~ᴇaʀᴄh the NʘvᴇlFire.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of nøvels early and in the highest quality.

“Though you’ve obtained everything the Four Pillars’ Inheritance has to offer… that doesn’t mean I can’t offer my own rewards separate from the inheritance,” said the man after a bit of silence, prompting the young man to look at him with incredulity.

“Think of it as an ancestor doting on their descendant… well, more like an ancestor giving more than just a few possessions to their sole descendant.”

Hearing the words that came out of the man’s mouth, Valyr took in a few deep breaths to contain his excitement.

After that, he let out a long exhale as he looked at Vaughn with a wry smile. “Beating around the bush as always. You could’ve just told me that from the start, you know?”

In response, Vaughn laughed. “What can I say? It’s been a while since I’ve interacted with someone from Veldanyr. The fact that you’ve inherited all of my blood just makes me want to tease you more.”

“Anyways, I’m giving you these rewards for two reasons,” the man continued. “The first one I’ve already mentioned, while the second one is for you to have more than enough power later down the line to complete the tasks I’ve given you.”

“With that being said, mind if I take a look at your status for a bit?” At those words, Vaughn looked at the young man in the eyes, only to receive a wary gaze back in response.

With that, he quickly reassured Valyr. “This is so I could give you rewards that are more suited for you. As a Greater God, there are a plethora of things I could give to someone who hasn’t transcended mortality yet.”

“Plus, if you’re thinking as to whether I’d share the information I got from you… I would’ve just shot myself in the foot if that were the case.”

Hearing those words, Valyr decided to trust in Vaughn, considering that he was showing him trust by asking for permission beforehand.

After all, as a Greater God, there wasn’t really much need for the man to ask him for permission to do something like that, especially if he had access to something like Authority stat.

With that, the young man allowed Vaughn to do whatever he wanted, closing his eyes in the process.

Whoosh!

Feeling a weird type of energy envelop his entire body for a brief moment, Valyr opened his eyes after hearing Vaughn that it was okay to do so.

“Hmm…” Looking at the artificial-looking screen he had brought up for him, Vaughn rubbed his chin in contemplation for quite some time before looking at Valyr as he nodded.

“Alright.”

“I now know what to give you.”
