Chapter 916 Shoring Up Foundations
Chapter 916 Shoring Up Foundations
————
[Reconnecting the Past to the Present (Veldanyr)] (Title)
Rarity: Mythic
Vaughn Darkstar, a living remnant hailing from the long-forgotten history of Veldanyr. Though he changed his identity to fit the times, he still considers himself to be someone from that past.
Ryvrthe, the Sapient One. Originally known as Vrauford Alicas in his first life, he’s similar to Vaughn in the way that they’re a remnant from the forgotten past.
However, unlike Vaughn, Ryvrthe underwent through multiple rebirths, gradually disconnecting himself from that same past. Nevertheless, he still considers himself to be someone from the past, yet has his mind in the present.
Valyr Zeihardt, a descendant of the Zeihardt clan, the sole inheritor of the Darkstar lineage. Though he entered the inheritance where these two remained in the hopes of bettering himself, he had inadvertently gotten caught up in the web these two had unknowingly laid out.
Fortunately, everything worked out in the end, with him allowing Vaughn, a reflection of the past, to reconnect with Ryvrthe, a reflection of the present.
This title serves as a reflection and a reminder of the hardships and the journey that Valyr Zeihardt went through during the Four Pillars’ Inheritance.
May his future journeys be ever fruitful.

“Huh.”
By the time Valyr was done reading through the description of the second title, the young man stared at the screen in silence for a bit, trying to wrap his head around what he just read.
Fortunately, it only took a few extra minutes for the young man to finally process the information, closing the screen before letting out a low exhale.
“Who knew I’d end up obtaining a unique title this way,” thought Valyr out loud, silent as he thought about the things he’d done to get it.
Though, the more he thought about it, the more it seemed like he only obtained the title through a series of coincidences.
After all, if he hadn’t been in the west quadrant of the city ruins…
If he hadn’t mustered up the courage to explore the underground…
If he hadn’t come across Vlrvadh that allowed him to meet the Forsaken race and Ryvrthe…
If he hadn’t accepted Ryvrthe’s quest…
“I definitely wouldn’t have gotten my hands on this title,” said the young man to himself, letting out a chuckle tinged with self-deprecation.
Taking in a few deep breaths to compose himself, Valyr took a look at the title once more from an objective perspective, immediately coming to the conclusion that it was like an inferior version of the skill he obtained from his bloodline.
‘Then again, there are a few things about this title that are better compared to that,’ thought Valyr, his focus on the two final effects of the title.
Though the benefits of the two final effects of the two weren’t that immediately obvious, the young man already had experience with the things the two effects tackled, with the first stemming from his time with Sellifer and Vaughn.
‘Even though I gained access to Azure Energy at the end, Sellifer crammed a bit over two years into a day in the inheritance proper, causing me to feel immense vertigo,’ muttered Valyr to himself inwardly.
‘On the other hand, I don’t know how much time I spent with Vaughn while we were in the Gates of Transcendence… but I still felt some vertigo when I finally left the inheritance.’
With those two experiences in mind, Valyr had a feeling that if he had the increased resistance to those side effects at the time, he wouldn’t have experienced any vertigo at all.
Or, even if he did, the intensity of the vertigo would be at a more tolerable level.
As for the increased resistance to fatigue and lethargy…
The past few days he spent in the Blacksmith Guild forging away was more than enough proof that its effects were effective.
“However, even before I got my hands on the title, I already felt like I could go for days without needing any sleep,” said Valyr to himself as he narrowed his eyes in suspicion.
Recalling how he’d spent the majority of his time in the inheritance not sleeping for days while only getting this specific title near the end of it, the young man found it incredibly peculiar.
Though, as he had no lead to follow, Valyr decided to forget the matter, coming to the conclusion that it was a good thing.
“It’s not like needing to sleep less is a bad thing, especially with how much stuff I would probably have to do during the war,” said Valyr to himself as the thought came to mind.
“In any case, a lot of XP, a ton of reputation and affinity, an Epic title, and a Mythic title to top it all off… Ryvrthe definitely went above and beyond.”
Satisfied after looking through the rewards he’d obtained from completing Ryvrthe’s quest, Valyr returned his train of thought back to the three choices he had.
Pondering over whether to choose between the Blacksmith Guild and the Spearman Guild once more, the young man immediately commanded the system to bring up the description of his skills.
Specifically, the ones drastically changed thanks to the introduction of Azure Energy.
“Though I’ve already made use of them in real-life situations, it doesn’t hurt to deepen my understanding of my skills, especially if it means I could make greater use of them,” muttered the young man to himself, recalling how he’d done the same thing back when he was at the inheritance.
Ding!
Looking at the three large screens that had appeared before him, Valyr moved two of them to the side for the meantime as he brought the screen containing his main spear skill in front of him.

Looking through the techniques the skill allowed him to access in detail, aside from the fact that each technique now leaned towards a certain element, his spear arts were far more destructive than before.
At the same time, he felt as if he could string the techniques together in a certain order, something he did not feel back when the skill had yet to be baptized with Azure Energy.
Curious as to whether his thoughts were true, the young man felt the urge to grab the spear behind his back and go through the basic movements of the various techniques to prove his hypothesis.
Though, in the end, he decided to suppress this urge, closing the screen before him as he brought the screen containing his main magic skill right in front of him.

Reading through the description of the various techniques making up the [Four Paths Azure Magic Arts], Valyr immediately noticed how each one seemed more descriptive than the ones for the spear.
“I guess it has something to do with how there’s more to magic than meets the eye, being more closely to the elements and energy and all that,” said Valyr in speculation, shrugging his shoulders at the thought.
“Either way, as long as I have an idea on how to use it well, that’s all that matters.”
“Though I guess it wouldn’t hurt to shore up my foundations on this area when all is said and done.”
Closing the screen containing his core magic skill, Valyr moved the final screen he’d brought up in front of his vision, recalling how he’d been using only one of the techniques under it all this time.
“Time to see how those other techniques have changed now that it’s turned into the [Azure Dragon Movement Arts].”
