Chapter 935: The Next Level
Chapter 935: The Next Level
Whoosh!
Taking a brief glance through the notifications he received, Valyr proceeded to store the arquebus back into his spatial bracelet as he brought up his status screen.
Ding!
Having the screen appear in front of the notification screen he already had open, the young man soon let out laughter as his attention shifted towards a certain part of his status.
Shadow Energy: 245/245
Azure Energy: 306/306
Although the notifications he received had already confirmed that he completed all of the quests needed to ascend his new subclass to the next rarity, Valyr still wanted to confirm it with his own eyes by taking a look at his own status.
Getting the confirmation he needed, the young man soon closed his status screen as he returned his attention to the notification screen he still had open.
Reading the final notification that was on his notification screen, the grin on the young man’s lips became slightly wider as he glanced at Noel.
“Elder Noel, would you mind protecting me for a bit?” asked the young man, to which the old man looked back at him in slight confusion.
Nevertheless, Noel still agreed to the request, casting a barrier of Abyssal Energy around the young man.
Looking at Valyr from outside the barrier, the old man raised his eyebrows once he saw the young man sit on the ground before releasing some of the Azure Energy in his body. ‘What’s he trying to do?’ inwardly murmured Noel to himself, wondering if it had something to do with consolidating the Shadow Energy Valyr got from killing the Shadow Rabbit.
Thinking along that train of thought for a bit longer, the old man felt that it might be the case. ‘After all, his Shadow Energy has grown by leaps and bounds so far. Add on the fact that his reserves grew by a lot after killing the Shadow Rabbit, it makes a lot of sense.’
Fortunately, Noel did not have to speculate on the matter any longer as Valyr’s aura burst out of the Abyssal Energy barrier soon after.
Whoosh!
With the aura containing all of the Azure Energy the young man released, Noel immediately took a few steps back after seeing Valyr’s aura breach through the barrier without any issues. Feeling a hint of danger from the young man’s aura, the old man inwardly let out a faint sigh once the aura stopped moving outward, instead choosing to encapsulate the entire barrier of Abyssal Energy Noel conjured.
Swoosh! Swoosh!
Surprisingly, the Azure Energy contained within the aura began to burrow into the barrier, gradually replacing the pitch-black darkness making up the barrier with a dark shade of blue. While that was happening, the young man’s aura continued to grow stronger, eventually spilling over to where Noel was as Valyr’s body began to grow stronger as well.
Taking notice of this, a myriad number of ideas and possibilities surfaced through Noel’s mind as he distanced himself from the young man once more, stopping only after he felt that he had gotten far enough from the young man.
“Is he ascending to a higher class rank?” murmured Noel to himself as he arrived at the end of his train of thought, feeling as if everything that happened around Valyr so far were signs to a class rank ascension.
Yet, just as it seemed that the entire thing would come to an end…
Bang!
Out of nowhere, the barrier that Valyr’s aura took over soon burst into motes of Azure Energy, causing a loud explosion that Noel felt would be heard by many of the beasts in the vicinity.
Though he kept the possible appearance of the beasts in mind, the old man gradually forgot about it as he watched the motes of Azure Energy coalesce into four stars above the young man, each of them seemingly having the power to control a certain element.
With his eyes still closed, Valyr moved one of his hands upward in response to the appearance of the four stars, causing them to dart through the skies as their forms slowly began to
change.
‘Bird, turtle, tiger, dragon…?’ Watching the transformation from afar, Noel was able to clearly see the new appearance of the four stars, their auras more or less similar to Valyr in terms of
strength.
Then, at the very moment the four beasts seemed to be at the peak of the skies, the four of them merged into a singular entity, its strength giving Noel the feeling that it had already touched upon the boundary that separated one from the Myth level.
Whoosh!
Though, before Noel could assess whether the feeling he got was true or not, the singular entity headed down to where Valyr was in a flash, merging with the young man’s body before the old man could even react.
Bang!
In response, the young man let out a wave of energy as the strength within his body immediately soared to greater heights.
At the same time, the Azure Energy the young man had released in the beginning had seemingly taken on a deeper color, all of which was gradually absorbed by the young man as he eventually opened his eyes.
“…” Slowly getting off the ground, Valyr remained silent as he slowly acclimated himself with his newly obtained strength.
‘To think ascending a subclass to the next rarity would cause the surroundings to turn out like this.’ Of course, that did not stop him from thinking out loud in his mind, the current sight forming a stark contrast to the prompt he just accepted earlier.
Taking a few deep breaths as he moved around for a bit, Valyr soon did a few basic movements to acclimate himself even further, immediately sensing the increased speed and force behind each movement he made.
By the end of his acclimation, he was going through a series of combat movements he generally used alongside his spear, smiling at the thought that his combat prowess had
improved by another level.
Feeling like he’d finally acclimated to the newfound strength the ascension gave him, Valyr went ahead and brought up his notification screen, recalling the incessant number of notification sounds that echoed in his mind the moment the ascension was done.
Ding!
[The ascension process has been successfully completed.]
[Your subclass ‘Four Paths Azure Magi-lancer (Rare)’ has evolved to ‘Four Paths Azure
Warlord (Epic)’.]
[As your current subclass is an evolution of your previous subclass, the stats received from ‘Four Paths Azure Magi-lancer (Rare)’ shall be adjusted to match the standards of the current
subclass.]
[You have gained +15 STR, +15 AGI, +60 DEX, and +60 INT.]
Reading how he’d gained over a hundred stat points just from evolving his subclass, Valyr briefly whistled in surprise, now getting a better idea of why his movements had improved in
that direction.
Continuing to read through the notifications he obtained from ascending his subclass, the young man’s eyes soon fell on a couple lines of text, causing him to raise his eyebrow in
curiosity.
[As your current subclass is an evolution of your previous subclass, properties inherent to the previous subclass have been enhanced to match the standards of the current subclass.]
[Due to the nature of your subclass, your Attack stat now scales off either the DEX or the INT
stat by 105%.]
‘Attack stat scaling beyond 100%?’ As the young man read through these notifications, Valyr briefly scratched the back of his head as he rummaged through his treasure trove of memories
regarding the matter.
Eventually, he recalled that something like that would only be possible if one were to get their hands on either a class or a subclass that severely hampered one’s abilities in a certain
area.
Of course, instances of equivalent exchange only applied to classes and subclasses that were obtained at Rank 5 and below.
If one wanted their Attack stat to scale beyond 100% of a certain stat without having to give up something in exchange, then one would need to reach the Myth level first.
With that, the fact that Valyr seemed to not have sacrificed anything in exchange for increased scaling left the young man in a state of slight confusion.
‘Does the Serpent Maiden have something to do with this?’ asked Valyr to himself inwardly, deciding to ask it and other similar questions he had in mind the next time he met with her.
Moving on to the remaining notifications he’d gotten from ascending his subclass, Valyr’s eyes began to glisten after seeing that most of them were related to skills. However, before he could even delve into those notifications in greater detail, a familiar voice
began to resound in the young man’s mind.
“It took me a while… but I finally found you.” “So… Vaughn told me you wanted to talk to me?”
