Chapter 961: A Quick Rundown
Chapter 961: A Quick Rundown
If one were to describe how Sellifer and Valyr appeared before Noel’s eyes, then it would be the word disheveled.
Looking as if they’d gone through an arduous journey over the past few days they were gone, the two looked for worse for wear, whether it was in their body language or in their overall appearance.
Between the two, Sellifer looked better off, with her appearance having not changed that much from the last time Noel had seen her.
Then again, a faint layer of dirt had accumulated on her skin over the past few days, which, when combined with the stress that was prevalent on her face, made her look a bit older than how she usually looked.
On the other hand, Valyr looked like he’d just barely escaped the pits of hell after roaming the Void World for the past few days.
What was once a dazzling set of armor had now turned into small chunks of metal fused together through the patchwork to offer the faintest sense of defense.
Aside from that, the man sported various wounds and injuries all over his body, ranging from bruises to puncture wounds, to lacerations and open cuts.
Seeing how the young man looked like he was on the verge of falling over, Noel looked at Valyr with a hint of concern, moving closer to the two as he planned on making use of the medicine and first aid he stored in his spatial bracelet.
Though, once he got closer to the two, he was able to feel their auras more clearly, causing him to be briefly confused as their auras made him feel like they hadn’t gotten into trouble at all.
In fact, when he focused his senses on Valyr’s aura, he felt the young man seemingly begin to meld with the blanket of darkness around them, taking on the strong empty feeling the darkness had and turning it into his own.
“It’s a long story,” said the young man with a chuckle in response to the old man’s question. “For now, I just want to get a bit of rest.”
Seeing that Noel was moving closer to them, Valyr looked at Sellifer for a bit before deciding to stop in his tracks, sitting down on the ground soon after.
Feeling exhausted as well after roaming around the Void World for a few days straight, Sellifer decided to follow Valyr’s thoughts, sitting on the ground as she slightly increased the intensity of the light fixture she had.
At the same time, she recalled the clone she’d conjured to keep an eye on Noel, having it move alongside the old man as the two eventually arrived within the area illuminated by Sellifer’s light.
“What happened?” By the time Noel and Sellifer’s clone had arrived where the two were, Valyr had already succumbed to the lethargy he had felt for the past couple of days, falling asleep as he stored all of his armor into his spatial bracelet beforehand.
“A lot of things,” said Sellifer in response to Noel’s question, making use of a bit of her energy to increase the rate at which Valyr recovered his vitality.
While doing so, the clone Sellifer made to keep an eye on Noel had fused with her, prompting her eyes to slightly widen in surprise as she looked at the old man. “You’ve improved your mana to the stage of 2nd Cleansing already?”
“Just recently, Divine One,” said Noel in a humble tone as he slightly smiled. “I was planning an attempt to improve my mana to the stage of 3rd Cleansing, though I’ve decided to postpone that since you two have returned.”
“You don’t really have to.” Having seen Valyr consistently fight against foes stronger than him with ease for the past couple days, the ill will Sellifer had towards the old man had slightly disappeared, recalling the relationship of the two.
“Feel free to focus on your attempts.”
“As you wish, Divine One.” At those words, Noel could only nod in response, sitting down at a spot that was in between where Sellifer sat and where Valyr rested.
Of course, even though he planned to follow her words, Noel was still curious as to how the two had gotten into their current state. “If I may ask, what happened during the past few days for you to two to turn out like this, Divine One?”
“Just as Valyr mentioned before, it’s a long story.” Sellifer looked back at Noel and gave him a wry smile before proceeding to give the old man a rundown of what the two had done.
With that, Noel gradually began to find out that Valyr had the capability to fight against Myth-level beings with ease, with the first few bouts the young man had against the Void Rabbits being the confirmation of his strength.
Hearing that his student’s strength had grown to such a point, the old man was left at a complete loss for words, especially after finding out that the young man had even fought a few Myth-level Void Rabbits without relying on his arquebus.
Nevertheless, most of the time, Valyr relied on his arquebus, as well as his whole host of stat- boosting skills, allowing him to amass a great amount of Shadow Energy with ease.
“By the time roughly two days had passed since we began to roam the Void World, Valyr had already surpassed the amount of Shadow Energy you needed him to amass.”
“In the end, he was only satisfied with returning after amassing almost double the figure you gave him.”
At those words, Noel felt the thoughts in his mind click together, especially the faint sense of emptiness that he felt from the young man when he first sensed his aura.
‘With that much Shadow Energy within his body, it definitely wouldn’t be long till he gets his hands on Void Energy,’ the old man mused to himself, thanking Sellifer for sharing her time to give him a quick rundown of what happened.
With that, the old man closed his eyes soon after, focusing all of his attention on purifying his mana to the stage of 3rd Cleansing.
Of course, Noel still spared a bit of his attention towards the young man, keeping an eye on him while he still rested.
After all, once the young man awoke from his slumber…
It was time for him to embrace the Void.
