Chapter 321 - Why Would a Brother Kidnap His Little Sister?
Chapter 321: Why Would a Brother Kidnap His Little Sister?
Perhaps everyone had a part of their past that they were unwilling to mention. Good friends who understood this would learn to give others some personal space.
Mu Chenyan murmured, “He’s really adorable and intelligent!”
Su Qingcheng turned to look at An An. The little boy sat at the dining table and ate properly. A knowing smile appeared on her face.
“Chenyan, will you tell me what happened?”
Su Qingcheng saw that Mu Chenyan had finished washing up, so she poured her a glass of milk.
The feast that was laid out on the breakfast table could not stimuate Mu Chenyan’s appetite. Her stomach was rejecting the sight of food strongly after her drunken stupor. She could not eat anything now.
“Nothing happened. I acted impulsively! I’ll never get drunk again…”
Mu Chenyan became slightly afraid when she thought of drinking. This fear reminded her of her aversion to chilies. After all, she had tremendously suffered after consuming these two things.
She merely touched on the matter lightly. It seemed like she did not want to say much about it.
Su Qingcheng decided not to pursue the matter. The two women ate a little bit of the food together. Su Qingcheng cleared the plates and cutlery and got ready to attend An An’s parent-teacher conference.
“I’m sorry, Chenyan. You’ll have to take a cab to the office.”
Su Qingcheng took her bag and entered the elevator with Mu Chenyan. She apologized as they left.
“Go ahead and tend to your matters! I’ll be fine.”
When she left the neighborhood, Mu Chenyan realized that she had been too optimistic about the whole situation. It was difficult to hail a cab so early in the morning. Worse still, this was also a restricted street.
She walked for some time and then decided to go to the end of another street to hail a cab there instead.
Just as Mu Chenyan was about to reach her arm out to stop a cab, someone grabbed her waist from behind and covered her mouth with a cloth…
*
Yuan Xuan initially assumed that Mu Chenyan would be fine with Su Qingcheng. That was why he did not send anyone to follow her.
He sent a text message to Su Qingcheng to ask her about his wife. He had to go through her because Mu Chenyan’s phone was switched off this whole time.
Su Qingcheng said that Mu Chenyan was not with her. A bad feeling rose in Yuan Xuan’s heart…
He rushed out of the Blue Sea and Sky Clubhouse and went to the police department immediately.
“Third Young Master Yuan? Why are you here so early? Can we help you?”
Wu Huai thought that Yuan Xuan was here because of Yuan Zhe’s case. He assumed that the Yuan Family was going to cause them more trouble by asking them to speed up the trial. Wu Huai could not help but mock him for rushing over when the case was already solved.
He never expected that Yuan Xuan would merely ignore him. Yuan Xuan asked in an icy tone, “Captain Wu, where is Mu Chenyan?”
Wu Huai was shocked. Mu Chenyan had been with Su Qingcheng ever since she left the rest of the group last night. Neither of them came to the office today. Su Qingcheng had requested for leave this morning while Mu Chenyan never came at all.
“I haven’t seen your wife since she left us last night!”
Yuan Xuan’s cold eyes darkened when he heard this. He took a deep breath and began pacing up and down Wu Huai’s office.
The elegant but arrogant man was usually extremely calm when he was faced with encountered problems. He had never lost control of himself in front of others.
However, his heart would be ridden with anxiety whenever Mu Chenyan was in trouble. It was currently impossible for him to deny this.
“Captain Wu, I need your help. Get someone to send me the surveillance tapes of the areas near Han City Road. I’ll take some of the people here with me to search for Mu Chenyan!”
Yuan Xuan’s eyebrows were knitted so closely together that they could not be straightened. He took a cigarette out of his pocket and gave it to Wu Huai. He lit one up for himself too.
“Are you saying that Mu Chenyan may have been kidnapped?”
Wu Huai noticed the solemn expression on Yuan Xuan’s face and realized the severity of the situation.
Yuan Xuan exhaled ring after ring of smoke. His voice was hoarse when he said, “It may have happened!”
“Who would do that?” Wu Huai surmised that the Yuan Family had numerous enemies. If this was really a kidnapping case, the situation would be rather complicated.
“I’m not sure. Captain Wu, we have to work together!”
Yuan Xuan rose and left when he said that. He suspected that Mu Chenwu was behind this, but he did not tell Wu Huai that.
After all, outsiders would assume that Mu Chenwu was Mu Chenyan’s loving older brother. Why would a brother kidnap his little sister? That was completely unreasonable.
He did not want to waste everyone’s time by explaining it.
…
Wu Huai mobilized the other branches and had the surveillance records from the departments that monitored the neighborhood examined.
Apparently, two people had snatched Mu Chenyan and drove off in a silver-colored van at the end of a street near Han City Road.
This van had circled the neighborhood several times, seemingly not in a hurry to leave the city, before finally stopping near Sheng Yu Hospital.
This did not fit the routine of a kidnapping case!
The kidnappers did not contact anyone for ransom once they had secured their hostage. They even circled the neighborhood with their victim in tow and ended up at the hospital in the end?
What the hell were they doing?
Wu Huai hastily contacted Yuan Xuan when he noticed these things.
On the other side, Yuan Xuan and the others rushed to Sheng Yu Hospital.
Mu Chenyan was actually inside Yan Mei’s ward. Her little face was pale as she held her mother’s hand tightly.
Yuan Xuan was faintly consoled. Aside from the sickly look on her face, she was completely unharmed.
However, an hour had passed since her kidnapping. Who had this woman met inside the van?
An hour was enough time for someone to drive a wedge between them!
Yuan Xuan suppressed his anger. He made an effort in restraining himself from ripping Mu Chenwu to shreds!
“Little Chenyan!” Yuan Xuan pushed open the door and ran inside. “You stayed out all night and refused to answer my calls. Do you know how much I’m worried about you?”
Yuan Xuan’s tone was not accusatory at all. He rushed over and tightly embraced Mu Chenyan. He murmured, “I was so worried…”
He was being completely honest!
Even if Wu Huai did not contact him, it was still highly unlikely that Mu Chenwu could travel a great distance from Luo Hai within an hour. He had already planned to take his men and conduct a thorough search of Luo Hai.
Mu Chenyan seemed unfazed. She merely glanced at Yuan Xuan indifferently before a hint of uncertainty flashed in her eyes.
“I’m fine!” Mu Chenyan’s voice trembled. “I just met an old friend.”
Yuan Xuan sensed that this woman was defying him. He was certain that the person whom she met was more than just an old friend. The man’s gaze turned sterner. He lowered his voice and asked, “What kind of friend would kidnap you?”
“Am I obligated to tell you everything?”
Traces of resentment lingered in Mu Chenyan’s tone. She shoved Yuan Xuan away and took a few steps back as if they did not know each other at all. A defensive look filled her eyes as she distanced herself from him.
History was repeating itself!
This had previously happened after she met up with Mu Chenwu. She was drawing a clear line between Yuan Xuan and herself again!
Idiot!
Yuan Xuan was annoyed. He took several long strides forward and grabbed her roughly by the waist. “Was it Mu Chenwu?”
Mu Chenyan stopped beating around the bush when Yuan Xuan laid everything out in the open. She struggled against him. “Yes! What are you going to do about it? Are you going to capture my brother and kill him before you finally murder me as well?”
Yuan Xuan had no clue what nonsense the woman was spouting. He merely felt that she was being unreasonably upset now because someone else had deluded her.
“You idiot! When are you going to put your brain to good use?”
Yuan Xuan scolded her. He carried her on his shoulder and ignored her objections. “You’re so silly. How could I kill you?”
Yuan Xuan carried her into the elevator while everyone else looked on in shock.
Mu Chenyan’s stomach began to hurt when it was pressed against Yuan Xuan’s shoulders. That and yesterday’s hangover had used up all her remaining strength rather quickly. She sobbed and gave up on struggling. However, her heart was still filled with hatred for Yuan Xuan.
Mu Chenwu’s words still echoed beside her ears. “You assumed that I was the one who brought Shu Qinger back. Have you ever thought that it might be Yuan Xuan?
“You thought that it was just a coincidence that Shu Qinger started living with the Yuan Family. But how could she settle down in Luo Hai gradually if Yuan Xuan had never agreed to it?”
