198 Chapter 198: Savage Beast Realm
Jenna succeeded in gaining the attention of the Twin-horned Boar as it charged at her direction
With her already expecting this outcome, Jenna dashed to put more distance between her and the boar
Grrrr… grrr!
The boar released loud growls before kicking its feet on the ground as it charged at the human that tried to attack it
With the physical abilities of a magic beast especially a beast such as the Twin-horned Boar, Jenna almost has no hope of outrunning it. However, that was not her intention
She already expected that the boar would soon catch up to her and with the physical strength that she honed from childhood to survive, she jumped on the tree in front of her
Even without the aid of magic and just by relying on pure physical stats alone, she was able to jump really high, landing on one of the said tree’s branch
Crash!!!
The boar was not able to stop in time nor does it have the intention to do so. Just by using its head, it successfully crashed an entire tree
The tree broke and crashed against another tree, causing a bit of a domino effect with the surrounding trees
Because of the boar’s tough hide, crashing a tree was not able to affect it in the slightest and it was about to charge again at Jenna that jumped down from the tree branch when the other apprentice mages finally released their spells
“[Water Tentacles!]”
“[Water Tentacles!]
“[Water Tentacles!]”
Three apprentice mages cast the same spell. Blue magic circles formed on their feet and from the magic circle, water materializes that formed the shape of long and nimble tentacles
The water tentacles moved fast and they only have a single target. They wrapped themselves around the boar, trying to stop it from moving
“Graaaghh!! Grrrr!!”
The Twin-horned Boar thrashed around, trying to break the water tentacles binding it
The water tentacles trembled as if they would break any time from now. However, most of the tentacles actually wrapped around the belly of the boar
The boar instinctively knew that if it continued moving the way it does, the child inside its belly would definitely be harmed. As such, it stopped moving around like crazy and instead stomped its feet on the ground
Gruughh!!! Bang!!
The ground moved as if hundreds of wild beasts were running. A mini-earthquake suddenly occurred causing the hard ground to crack and the surrounding trees to fall down as a result
“A-ahh!” Umper, the hunter that was the clumsiest of them all lose her balance as she fell down
The others tried to help her but they were also not in a good condition. The ground near them was stirred and moved on its own
Pieces of the hard ground rose and attacked the apprentice mages on their stomach causing the control they have over their spells to falter
Just because beastlings have low intelligence doesn’t mean that they are easy to kill. They might be dumb in many ways but they still have their fighting instincts!
Thanks to the boar’s magic, the water tentacles loses their shape and fell down, creating a puddle of water
However, at this moment, Jenna already finished casting her spell
“[Paralysis Vines!]”
The green-colored gem on her belt floated in front of her as she clearly sensed what the nature-attributed mana felt like. That made it easy for her to control her personal mana to give it the attributes of nature
With the help of her mana, Jenna condensed a magic circle that communicated with the world to achieve her desired effect
A green magic circle formed on her feet and from it, vines with sharp thorns that were wet from some unknown purple liquid grew
The moment that the water tentacles broke, the vines replaced them and the thorns on them pierced the tough skin of the Twin-horned Boar
“Arrgghh!!” The boar cried out in pain. The purple liquid seeps into the tiny wounds on its body, robbing the boar of its ability to move
Of course, since Jenna’s spell was not as strong as the spell of a Junior Mage, it would take more time before a magic beast would cease to move
However, this was already enough. The more time that passed, the harder the boar would find it to move
The continuation of the battle for survival was smooth sailing for Jenna’s side. The boar was pregnant which weakened it and it was also affected by the paralysis spell
Aside from some light injuries, Jenna’s side has not suffered much and they soon successfully slayed the boar
As they are already considered experts, they didn’t linger in the area for long. They tied the now dead boar with tough vines and helped each other in pulling it to take the carcass back to their tribe
“Meat! Meat! Meat!” Borsus silently chanted with saliva dripping down his lips. He was excited to eat the boar meat
It was not every day that he could eat such premium meat as most of the time, they could only hunt the smaller and weaker magic beasts. The meat of those magic beasts is definitely inferior compared to the meat of the Twin-horned Boar
Their group moved fast and they also, fortunately, managed to avoid encountering magic beasts that they cannot fight
Even if they were to encounter magic beasts, those magic beasts were the kind that they could take care off
Not all battles would result in death. When both sides saw that the fight wouldn’t have any clear winner, they would withdraw
Beastlings still have their basic instinct of life preservation except for the crazier ones that would really fight to the death
“Ahh!!” Suddenly, Umper cried out once more. At this point, her group was already used to her clumsiness and they merely stared at her with an expression that seems to not know whether they should cry or laugh
“Tsk!” Yvter made an annoyed sound as he stared at the clumsy girl
“Sigh… Umper, when will you learn?” Jenna asked with a helpless sigh when she raised her brows
“A human?” She muttered. She didn’t expect that there would actually be a bloody and injured human here!
None of them noticed that person. If not for Umper accidentally tripping on that unconscious person, they might not even notice him
With this point, maybe it was not Umper’s fault that she tripped. They don’t know why but this human has little to no presence!
If their eyes didn’t directly land on him, they wouldn’t notice him at all!
“Is he dead?” Borsus muttered while staring at the human curiously
Death is definitely not an uncommon concept for any of the four. This world is not an easy place to live on
Countless magic beasts roamed the lands and humans could only gather and form their tribes for mutual protection
However, even if they create a tribe, survival is still not guaranteed. There is the issue of food but it was also not rare for tribes to be wiped out from time to time after the magic beasts decides to attack them
As such, even kids from Jenna’s tribe already knew and understood the concept of death
Out of curiosity and goodwill, Jenna checked if the unconscious human was still breathing
“He’s still alive. Should we help him?” Jenna asked her group and the first one that replied was none other than Yvter
“Help? What help? We could barely help ourselves! Let’s just move on and ignore him” he said but the others were clearly not as brutal and merciless as him
They are used to death but that doesn’t mean that they do not have a conscience! If they could, they still want to help a fellow human!
“B-but… he’s pitiful”
“He would die if we leave him here…”
Jenna stared at the unconscious man and furrowed her brows. “Look at his clothes. Although they are torn, they are not the same as ours. He has much better clothes than us! Could it be that he came from a big tribe? If we help him, is it possible that we would be rewarded?”
With her words, the others also stared at the unconscious man and they noticed the clothes he was wearing
While they were torn to shreds, the fabric is not the same as some rough beast skins. They are clearly of a higher quality
Even the few Junior Mages of Jenna’s tribe don’t have clothes of the same quality. Such a thing might only be something that big tribes possessed
“If we help him, would it be possible for us to join a bigger tribe? We might even receive assistance to become a Junior Mage!”
Junior Mage! That is a rank that everyone in Jenna’s tribe wanted to reach. Apprentice mages are too numerous and weak. The ones with and in power are the Junior Mages that don’t need the assistance of Resonance Gems or Magic Circles to perform magic!
