Chapter 290 - 290 Bullying
290 Bullying
Qiao Yue decreased her speed when she drove down the mountain.
It was already evening, and the setting sun shone on the huge statue of Ophanim.
The huge eye was dyed red by the setting sun, making the statue look mythical and bloody. After experiencing a few hell-like days, Qiao Yue didn’t feel anything scary about this statue.
There were many things more terrifying than this.
In the Bible, angels were the ones who looked more scary. They usually wrapped themselves up with their huge wings and used their terrifying true bodies to intimidate the demons.
And demons were the ones with beautiful faces.
Qiao Yue replayed the confrontation with Andy in her mind.
Andy was a respectable opponent, but his methods were extremely underhanded.
After this incident, Qiao Yue realized that she knew too little about the Godfather.
She grew up in the organization, but her knowledge of the Godfather stagnated at knowing him as the founder of the organization. As for how the organization worked, she had no idea.
Most of the missions she received from the Godfather were to assassinate political enemies or criminals like Trand.
So, Qiao Yue had always felt that perhaps the Godfather was like The Custodians. They both worked for justice, and what she wanted was just to be a friend of justice.
But now, it seemed like that wasn’t the case at all.
She was going to fulfill her mother’s last wish, find out more about her own background and then return to the organization to work on more missions, run KA like before, and live among her friends.
But now, it seemed that her plan would fall through.
Qiao Yue drove slowly as she let these thoughts wander in her mind.
“Thank you.” Hong Ning’s voice pulled Qiao Yue back to reality.
“Don’t mention it.” Qiao Yue turned the steering wheel as she said to Hong Ning. “How did they trick you into coming here?”
Although Hong Ning didn’t come from money, her family was middle-class. Why did she have to do such a part-time job now?
“Something happened in my family. The company that my parents used to work for was acquired by the Li family, and my parents lost their jobs.”
Li Rong and Li Cheng were close with Qiao Xin, so it wasn’t strange for them to do such a thing to Hong Ning for her.
“Qiao Yue, they have been bullying me when you were away from school.”
Qiao Yue stopped the car and turned to look at Hong Ning.
Tears welled up in Hong Ning’s eyes. She rolled up her sleeves and revealed arms covered in candle burn marks and whip marks. Some of the wounds looked terrible, as if they were caused by a sharp blade.
“Qiao Xin?” Qiao Yue asked.
Hong Ning nodded. She wasn’t planning to tell Qiao Yue about this. After all, Qiao Yue and Qiao Xin were family. Hong Ning didn’t think that Qiao Yue would do anything to Qiao Xin because of her accusation.
But today, Qiao Xin and her friends came to find Hong Ning and told her that if she went out with Li Rong and Li Cheng for the day, they would let her parents go.
As for going out with the Li brothers, it entailed car racing and, of course, some activities that were not suitable for children.
Hong Ning no longer had any plans for her future. She still had a younger brother at home, and her parents had to support the family.
If sacrificing herself would ensure her family’s safety and prosperity, she was willing to do so. But she didn’t expect to meet Qiao Yue here, at her most embarrassing moment.
Qiao Yue had helped Hong Ning many times in the past, and she had always been grateful. She was also very fond of Qiao Yue.
There were too many arrogant people at Harvey, too few who treated a special admission student like her as sincerely as Qiao Yue.
The young heart of a teenage girl would always be touched by such care and understanding.
“I will help you.” Qiao Yue started the car after listening quietly to Hong Ning.
She never liked people who used their family’s wealth to bully others.
This time, she would settle all scores – old and new – with Qiao Xin. She would make Qiao Xin pay!
When Qiao Yue parked her car, the Li brothers, Li Rong and Li Cheng, had already driven in front of her.
The two of them had no intention of competing with Qiao Yue again.
