Chapter 618 - Reunion
Chapter 618: Reunion
Jing Yiran failed to find Tang Shunian in the end.
Because the passage through which he escaped led to the middle of the river.
That river had been expanded and deepened by Tang Shunian and Jing Yiran could not find any trace of where he was headed. He felt that there must have been some other passage leading to somewhere else through the river, and Tang Shunian must have taken that way.
He might have cursed at Tang Shunian for being a rathole maker, but when Jing Yiran saw this complicated underground kingdom, he got a bit shocked.
Tang Shunian must have spent all of his energy and money upon building this underground world.
He had really become an expert in this aspect. Jing Yichen might have grasped some bit of it but he had not been able to understand everything yet.
Jing Yiran got distressed because he had planned to kill Tang Shunian in order to get Jing Yichen to admire him.
But the guy managed to escape.
Out of anger, he ruined the underground world completely and killed all the remaining men of Tang Shunian. They were not good people anyway, just some fighters who would bring harm to society.
Jing Zhongxiu had also run into problems.
They had just entered the spiral cellar when they came across Tang Shunian’s men who were ordered to come in later. They came in through another entry and all of them had guns with them.
If it had not been for the excellent equipment which Jing Zhongxiu’s men had with them and the amazing snipers, the enemies would have killed them.
The darkness of the cellar provided them with the perfect cover and increased their combat time.
Tang Shunian’s men could afford to delay the battle, because they were not affected by the drugs. They feared death, and didn’t dare to forge ahead.
But Jing Zhongxiu could not linger around here any longer.
He was worried about his son and daughter-in-law. Now, he knew clearly what Jing Yichen had gone through eleven years ago. He did not want to waste a single more second to let his son experience that inhuman torment again.
Forging ahead would definitely need sacrificing some men but he had to do that.
Luckily, his snipers were all professional experts, and the enemies dropped dead once they made a move. As they moved ahead, the enemies kept increasing in numbers but after half of the enemies died, the rest of them ran away in fear.
Shangguan Ning shouted loudly when she saw Jing Zhongxiu appear in front of her. “Dad, we are here, Yichen is wounded, bring the doctors!”
Jing Zhongxiu did have two doctors with him when he entered the place, but both of them lost their lives in the bombing.
His men and Lu killed the remaining men and reached Shangguan Ning. Seeing Jing Yichen covered with blood, he said without preamble, “Ning, I will carry him out.”
Jing Yichen did not like being touched, but he would not react much when his closest family was touching him.
Jing Zhongxiu for example, was Jing Yichen’s father and their relationship did not make Jing Yichen puke even when they had been on the worst terms.
But he was not feeling that well right now.
Shangguan Ning was the only person who did not make Jing Yichen uncomfortable when she touched him. Same went for his precious son, Jing Rui.
Without hesitation, Shangguan Ning helped Jing Yichen stand up and put him over Jing Zhongxiu’s back, so that Jing Zhongxiu could carry him out.
She did not think that it was weird to let Jing Zhongxiu carry Jing Yichen, and she did not think that Jing Zhongxiu at his age would not be able to carry Jing Yichen, either. Jing Zhongxiu was tall, strong and healthy.
Jing Yichen, however, did not want to be carried by his father. He said calmly, “It is alright, I can walk myself.”
He was in his 30s and was a father, himself. How could he let his aged father carry him?!
Jing Zhongxiu had known that Jing Yichen would not agree to be carried, so instead of trying to persuade him, he looked at Shangguan Ning, waiting for her to say something.
Shangguan Ning was concerned and worried about Jing Yichen even more than he was. His son had indeed picked a good wife. She loved him deeply and even went into the cellar without hesitation and confronted Tang Shunian despite all the risk.
Fortunately she was fine, otherwise Jing Yichen would have never forgiven him.
Shangguan Ning did not notice Jing Zhongxiu’s eyes on her. She was only concerned about Jing Yichen at the moment.
“Yichen, you are wounded, and can’t walk by yourself. It is a deep cellar and it is spinning as well. You won’t make it far. Let dad carry you. I can carry you if you don’t think it is proper for him. I drank some of Lu’s blood and I am strong right now.”
Shangguan Ning knew that he did not like being touched and was very stubborn. Also, he probably would lose face if he had to be carried by Jing Zhongxiu.
But no one else could do this work. Jing Yichen did not have much reaction towards Jing Zhongxiu’s touch but his reaction was strong towards others.
When Jing Yichen heard Shangguan Ning’s words, he tried his best to stand straight.
How would Shangguan Ning be able to carry him?
That was never going to happen.
Neither of the options were feasible.
Jing Yichen had a strong willpower. His wounds hurt and his blood was dripping, but these were small things compared to what he had experienced eleven years ago. He felt that he would be able to overcome the present situation.
More importantly, he heard that Shangguan Ning had just consumed Lu’s blood?!
Jing Zhongxiu and Jing Yichen frowned and looked at Shangguan Ning and said at the same time, “How much did you drink?”
Shangguan Ning was not sure about why they were so nervous, so she answered hesitantly, “Just a little…”
She was not sure either about how much she had drunk, because Lu had pinched at her chin and poured it in.
But she had a feeling that she did not have too much of it.
Lu’s calm voice arose from behind. “I forced her and she did drink some. There will be some complications, not now but later. She will experience pain in her bones.”
