Chapter 233: Searching for the Mothership, the Mothership’s Cortex

1269 was stunned as he looked at Ling Jiu as if he was looking at a monster. “You... You said that you fully meet these two conditions?”

“Of course!”

Ling Jiu nodded solemnly. “There’s no need to say more about the first condition. You’ve seen it yourself. As for the second condition, I’ve indeed become a stellar lifeform!”

As he said that, Ling Jiu swiped the void and wherever his fingers passed, the void was instantly torn into a dimensional rift.

“You’ve really become a stellar lifeform?”

1269 looked at the dimensional rift that was gradually closing as it gasped. “Boy, how old are you this year?”

“Seventeen years old,” Ling Jiu said.

“Seventeen! A seventeen-year-old stellar lifeform?” 1269 muttered to itself.

“I’ve been on Earth for so long, and I’ve never seen a genius like you. Nay, I’ve never even heard of one like you before.”

As it said that, 1269 was suddenly excited. “In other words, you’ve fully met the two conditions, and can indeed communicate with the mothership.”

“How do I do that?”

Ling Jiu wondered. “9527 said before that once I become a stellar lifeform, I will receive a summon from the Emessian mothership, but there isn’t anything until now?”

1269 said. “I guess that the Mothership Cortex had fallen into sleep mode. After all, the long wait is just too dreary.”

“Sleep mode? Ling Jiu was stunned. “How do I communicate with it then?”

“Find the mothership first, and I have a wake to wake it up.” 1269’s eyes burned. “Let’s go, I’ll take you to look for it.”

“Where is it?”

Ling Jiu asked.

“Earth!”

...

Earth, the Australian continent.

The cold whirring wind blew across the slightly desolate Australian continent. The air was rather dry as everything withered, and all Direbeasts had disappeared back to their nests.

It was July, and while China was in summer, it was winter on the Australian mainland, but because it was surrounded by sea, winter in Australia was not very cold, which was about the same as China’s Dalian Base City.

When he came to Australia again, Ling Jiu had a feeling of a triumphant return. When he first came to the training camp, he was only a Level 4 Arcanist, and now he was Level 7, with a body comparable to a stellar lifeform.

His strength could be said to have undergone tremendous changes, yet only half a year had passed. The time was neither long or short, but the changes were tremendous.

“1269, where is the mothership?”

Ling Jiu asked.

“That direction!”

Under 1269’s lead, Ling Jiu and Bai Ya finally arrived at Tasmania.

This island was the only island state of Australia, across the sea from the Australian mainland, somewhat similar to that island opposite China.

But it was different from that island.

This island was mostly inaccessible virgin forests, undeveloped rivers and damp, cold valleys.

The whole island was covered by clouds and mist all year round, and was a Direbeast paradise, with countless terrifying beasts living there.

“I could sense the mothership is probably on this island, but exactly where it is, I cannot detect.”

1269 said a somewhat regretful tone. “So, you need to slowly explore it.”

“This island is huge, but exploring isn’t difficult.”

Ling Jiu looked at the entire island and slowly said. “As long as the mothership is on this island, I will definitely find it.”

“Then, let’s hurry up!”

1269 urged. “I’ve not seen the mothership for tens of thousands of years.”

“Okay!”

Ling Jiu nodded slightly as he prepared to use his Dimensional Arcana to look for the mothership’s whereabouts Unexpectedly, a huge movement suddenly came from below.

“Booom!”

Amidst the clouds and mist, there were sounds of rocks falling apart.

The next moment, a furious roar rang out as a massive Direbeast rushed out from the valley below, chasing after two figures in a frenzy.

“Why is it them?”

Seeing the two, Ling Jiu could not help but be stunned for a moment.

After the two rushed out of the valley, and noticed Ling Jiu and Bai Ya standing in mind-air, and were also taken aback.

“Brother!”

“Ling Jiu!”

They were no one else but Yang Ling’er and Ai Yuhe. When Yang Ling’er saw Ling Jiu, she immediately rushed over and threw herself into his arms.

“Brother, why are you here?” Yang Ling’ers face was flushed with excitement as she said eagerly. “Didn’t you say you cannot come home after going to the matriculation camp?”

“The matriculation camp had sent me on a mission.”

Ling Jiu touched Ling’er’s nose and then glanced at Ai Yuhe as he smiled and asked. “You two are hunting Direbeasts here?”

“Yeah!”

Yang Ling’er nodded immediately, and then looked at Bai Ya with a curious look. Ling Jiu immediately introduced her. “She is Bai Ya, you should call her Sister-in-law.”

“Hello, sister-in-law!”

Yang Ling’er greeted obediently, but her expression was somewhat unnatural.

“Ling’er, your brother often talks about you...”

Bai Ya stepped forward and took Ling’er’s hand as she greeted enthusiastically. She was cold to outsiders, but she could not afford to be the same around Ling’er.

Yang Ling’er was her sister-in-law, after all. Hence, she had to form a good relationship in advance, especially when Ai Yuhe, her boyfriend’s “ex” was still Ling’er’s best friend. As a result, having a good relationship was paramount.

“Sis, you’re so beautiful!”

Yang Ling’er could not help but praise. In terms of looks, both she and Ai Yuhe were first-class, but in all, they were still inferior to Bai Ya.

Not to mention figure wise...

“You too...”

“ROAR!!!”

Just as the two women were talking, the Direbeast below roared, and its entire body sprayed out spikes like a laser gun, turning into a rain of arrows pouring upon Ling Jiu and the others.

“Watch out!”

Yang Ling’er reminded loudly.

“A trivial matter.”

Ling Jiu smiled faintly as he pointed to the void and the sharp thorns flying over instantly froze in the air.

Ling Jiu immediately grabbed at the voice as he lifted the Direbeast, covered in spikes like a hedgehog, and a mouse, in the air.

The Direbeast thrashed about, but it could it shake itself free, and could only be caught by Ling Jiu and brought before him.

“A Class 8 Direbeast, a Spike Mole.”

Ling Jiu lightly flicked his finger onto the Spike Mole’s head. The next moment, the mole’s eyes suddenly widened as blood gushed out along all of its seven orifices.

It was dead, its brain completely wrung into a paste by the force of the tremors.

“Ling’er, catch!”

Ling Jiu tossed the Spike Mole’s corpse over.

“Thanks, brother!”

Yang Ling’er smiled sweetly and put it into her Dimensional Bag. It was just a Class 8 Direbeast corpse, she wouldn’t be modest with her brother.

“Ling’er, I still have things to attend to. I’ll see you when I’m done.”

Ling Jiu said, “Let me know if it’s possible?”

“Very well, then.”

Yang Ling’er agreed and left with Ai Yuhe. Looking at their departing figure, Ling Jiu let out a soft sigh.

Seeing this, Bai Ya said with a half-smile. “Why? Feeling uneasy after seeing your ex?”

“What are you thinking?”

Ling Jiu laughed and then started to look for the mothership. With the power of his Dimensional aRcana, everything became visible. The only trouble was the island was too big and needed to search slowly.

Time slowly passed, and three days had passed without him knowing. Sadly, Ling Jiu had already scanned almost half of the island, but still could not find the mothership.

There was no other way, he needed to keep looking.

Two more days passed.

On this day, when Ling Jiu searched the skies above the huge lake, his eyes suddenly lit up and exclaimed. “1269, I think I found it!”

“Found it? Where? Where?”

1269 perked up and Bai Ya also looked at Ling Jiu with excitement. After searching for so many days, they were at their end of their patience, even though both of them did nothing.

“Just below this lake!”

Ling Jiu wiped the sweat off his forehead. “There is a huge alien dimension under this lake. As expected, the mothership should be in this alien dimension.”

“Go down! Go down quick!”

1269 urged.

“Okay!”

Ling Jiu released his Arcana Field, and enveloped 1269 and Bai Ya as they disappeared. When they reappeared again, they were already in the alien dimension.

The surrounding area was pitch black and Bai Ya took out a torch and pointed it to the front.

A massive space appeared before her, and at first glance, she could not see the end of it, however, at the very end, a spaceship lay quietly there.

The spaceship was shaped like a tentacle, or a crescent moon. Its entire hull was pitch black, and the material one it was very similar to that of a Venom Suit.

What puzzled Ling Jiu was that this spacecraft was not that big, not nearly as big as the Ayang-Braend spacecraft, and was about the size of a basketball court.

“1269, is this the last mothership of your Emessian civilization?”

Ling Jiu was confused. “This is a little too small, right?”

“You don’t understand.”

1269 was excited. “The mothership is the culmination of the top Emessian technologies, built using the most advanced dimension folding techniques. Don’t be fooled by its small exterior, but it is totally different inside, and is wide beyond your imagination!”

“Oh I see!”

Ling Jiu suddenly said. “How do we get in? Should I open up a wormhole?”

“Absolutely not!”

1269 said plainly. “Your ability to open wormholes is indeed wonderful, but it won’t work on the mothership. Forget opening a wormhole to get in, even if you managed to, you’ll be attacked by the mothership. You’ll definitely die if you enter.”

“Then what should we do?”

Ling Jiu frowned.

“Attack the mothership from outside to rouse its cortex.”

1269 said. “As long as the mothership’s cortex is awakened. Everything else is easy.”

“I’ll try!”

Ling Jiu took a deep breath as he came before the mothership and launched an attack.

BAAAMMM!!

BAAAMMM!!

BAAAMMM!!

A series of furious attacks slammed on the mothership. The mothership did not react at first, but when Ling Jiu attacked it for the fifth time, the mothership shook slightly.

The next moment, lights lit up on the mothership as purple light beams fell upon Ling Jiu, covering him in it.

“The cortex is awake!”

1269 was overjoyed and jumped onto Ling Jiu’s shoulder as it let out a burst of cheer and danced at the same time, no one knew what it was saying.

The next moment.

A black light landed, and 1269 disappeared from Ling Jiu’s shoulder.

“Where did he go?”

Ling Jiu was shocked, but yet 1269 had disappeared. Throughout the entire process, Ling Jiu did not detect any dimensional fluctuation. It had disappeared just like that.

“Honey, where is 1269?”

Bai Ya flew over.

“Probably got sucked in by the mothership...”

Ling Jiu said slowly, but before he had finished speaking, another black light fell. He felt an irresistible force acting on his body, and the next moment, he disappeared where he stood.

“Honey...”

Bai Ya was shocked.

...

Ling Jiu knew that like 1269, he was being teleported into the ship. But looking at everything before him, it was really hard for Ling Jiu to imagine that this was the inside of the mothership!

At a glance.

Beneath his feet were black earth, and above him a purple sky with a blood-colored moon floating on it, shining upon this world.

Strange black plants grew on the ground, like withered old trees as they grew all over the world.

“In this really the inside of the mothership?”

Ling Jiu was dumbstruck. “Instead of some random planet’s surface?”

“Welcome, Earthling.”

A low voice sounded.
