My World Traveling System: The Harbinger of Death

Chapter 144: Vheslia

Chapter 144: Vheslia

—–

Frank and the rest of the group glanced at the small and cute girl that entered the house.

Her appearance seemed mostly like that of a human… if it was not for the pointy and small horns growing at each side of her head.

Her eyes gleamed with interest as she noticed Frank from all people.

Frank also noticed that despite her appearance, that she was rather strong, being at Rank 2 immediately simply based on her Mana Aura, which was shrouding her body.

“It is nice to meet you,” said Frank.

“Oh? A human?” said the woman, glancing at Frank with her purple eyes gleaming with interest.

“Yeah, he’s the human boy I talked you about through our letter,” said Gwendolyn.

“Oh, I see… He’s Rank 2? Oh my, and so young?” asked the demon woman.

“May I ask your name?” asked Frank.

“Oh! My bad, well, everyone, my name is Vheslia Carilthine! I will be your magic teacher for some time before you finally make it big into the capital!” said Vheslia, surprising everyone with her gentle nature.

After her introduction, everyone introduced themselves and their names, letting Vheslia memorize the names of her new students was very important for her, as she would be teaching them for some time.

While seeping tea, Vheslia introduced herself a bit more, and finally got to the elephant in the room.

“Ah, you might be wondering what is a Demon like me doing here and not living in my own Demon Country? Well, I would like to know too, because I was left as an orphan in this nation since I was young! It’s not like I had any option, right? I did not have any penny to go to that nation nor I had any intention, it was very far away, and when I even discovered that there was a Nation filled with Demons, I was already in love with the magic and studying diligently. To be honest, I never cared about what others said at the orphanage, so I did quite fine,” said Vheslia, she was rather open to talking, and had a mildly cheeky nature.

“O-Oh, I see! When was the time that you got to know Gwendolyn, Vheslia-san?” asked Cathyl.

“Oh well, that happened around nine years ago I believe, we met in the Military, I had joined because they wanted my strength, and they offered a hefty sum of money that I couldn’t deny at all! After all, I had to gather money if one day I wanted to reach the pinnacle of magic! …Albeit even since then, I have not advanced that much. Truly, you need a lot of time to raise your Mana Core Rank, and even then, a lot of talent and countless resources too! What a bummer… It makes me wish that I could have been born in some loyal family, to be honest, don’t you agree?” asked Vheslia, her babbler left many nodding their heads nervously, it was hard to not agree with her, but she talked way too much.

“I-I see…” said Frank with a bitter smile.

“Well, maybe I should just tell you, you’re my friend already, and I believe what I am about to tell you might make you want to never separate from us…” said Gwendolyn.

“Eh? What’s with that all out of the sudden? What do you mean by telling me? What do you want to tell me from all things, Gwen?” asked Vheslia in confusion.

“Well… Frank, we should really tell her about all of it,” said Gwendolyn.

“All of it?! But Gwendolyn… Are you sure? What if she ends up telling someone else or something?” asked Frank.

“Frank, she will be living with us for months to come, she will eventually figure it out, she’s incredibly smart and sharp, despite her blabber and girlish appearance, she has the spirit of an old woman,” said Gwendolyn.

“Who are you calling an old woman, vixen?!” roared Vheslia.

“Maybe I should start with the secrets then, she’s actually over forty despite her looks!” said Gwendolyn.

“Oi! Do not ruin my image like that, you vixen!!! Ugh…!” cried Vheslia.

“O-Over forty?! But she looks like a doll! No way… Haha!” laughed Cathyl, she was very expressive and immediately burst into laughter.

“Sigh… Okay then, tell her, I guess… If she is so trustworthy to you…” said Frank.

“Alright then!” said Gwendolyn.

“Tell me what? What are you talking so much about, don’t keep these secrets for you and speak to me!” said Vheslia.

“Well, you see… Frank here has a special Ability…” said Gwendolyn.

After a bit more than an hour, Gwendolyn and Frank with the help of Kamei and the rest introduced to Vheslia the System that Frank could share, and its ability to let others easily gather power through leveling amongst many other things.

Gwendolyn saw Vheslia not as a simple friend, but as a strong and important ally, and wanted her to jump into the wagon at all cost, especially due to her resourcefulness and amazing wisdom and knowledge about magic.

And even if she was a commoner without much money, she was still known in the capital and held her connections, enough for her to become rather useful in that regard as well.

In a way, Gwendolyn was trying to bribe her with such a power, and because Vheslia was obsessed with seeking the pinnacle of magic, through the System, she should be capable of achieving it thanks to the ability of any System used to increase their Mana Core Cultivation Rank by consuming other Mana Cores, even those of non-monsters!

After a few bit more explanations, where Gwendolyn tried to resume and to not go into much detail about Frank’s personal problems but still about his otherworldly origin and his status as the Hero of Abraddon by showing off his Hero Brand, Vheslia was finally convinced, and promptly after given the System…

The thing that made Frank certain that she would not betray them was her obsession with this System and the opportunity to grow stronger through it in addition to cultivation, she was also a very good friend of Gwendolyn… And well, if she were to even think about “betraying” Frank would quickly deal with her… Although Frank did not wanted something like this to even happen, it was a possibility within his mind which he could not discard. He felt like he was becoming paranoid.

However, there was also the rule about any shared System user having a hard time growing in strength if it wasn’t near Frank, and it was also near impossible to level up Skills or learn them if he wasn’t at their side either, it was one of the rules that reassured that anyone that got the System to need to be with Frank to raise their strength, so people couldn’t simply take the power and run away with it, as they would need him to be constantly with them for their power to grow, and even more, as Frank even believed that he could, to an extent, seal the power of those he shared the System with.

“This is insane! I never thought something so ridiculous could actually happen! From another world… and also a hero?! And you even made a deal with the Goddess of Chaos… and got yourself a freaking dungeon too?! Aren’t you like a hen of golden eggs? You are constantly producing money! And your powers are ridiculous! I can see why you have gotten so strong just after a bit more than a week…! Going from Rank 1 Initial Stage to Rank 2 in a bit over a week is already completely insane…” said Vheslia.

“Indeed, he is filled with talent. I believe that was Frank develops and we do as his side, he might even bring a change to this entire world,” said Gwendolyn with inspiration.

“Hmm… I don’t think I want to bring such an immense change, to be honest, but I guess I can kind of do that…” said Frank with a bitter smile.

“My onii-chan is very amazing!” said Kamei.

“Indeed he is! And you little Kamei, your powers are also amazing, if you stay at my side I can grow double the speed?! I want to do this ‘grind’ thing you call straight away! Let’s go blast away from monsters! I am going to wipe out that entire Dungeon!” laughed Vheslia, she was filled with an enormous amount of excitement, she was finally given a lot of hope to accomplish her goals after all.

However, she was suddenly stopped by Gwendolyn, as she did not want her to go anywhere for now.

“Hey, you also gotta do your part of the deal!” said Gwendolyn.

“Oops! Right… I am a magic teacher! I almost forgot, hehe… And yeah, sure thing, I will hop in the Hero’s party~ Fufu, I may even become your love interest heroine!” said Vheslia teasingly and jokingly, making Kamei pout in anger.

“That’s good to hear, I know you for years and I already know that you won’t let someone like Frank go away from you,” laughed Gwendolyn.

“Heh, you know me way too much, it seems, Gwen,” said Vheslia.

“Stay away from Onii-chan!” said Kamei, hugging Frank.

“Kamei… I think she was just joking, relax a bit… (Why is Kamei such a brocon? What does she see in me? I seriously have to make her less like this…)” sighed Frank.

“What with Kamei-chan? It was a joke, a joke! And you are also kind of from another world, right? Maybe that’s why you got crazy powers… Oh right, you don’t even have a mana core, yet you can use magic… truly the power of another world!” said Vheslia.

“Oh right, I guess we should let Kamei make her own Mana Core now that I think about it, cultivating inhere will bring her an extra layer of power after all,” said Frank.

“My own Mana Core? Alright…!” sad Kamei, quickly forgetting her jealously as she seemed excited about her Mana Core acquisition.

The party walked outside as Kamei was given a small pile of Mana Cores from monsters, which she absorbed and then finally acquired her own Mana Core, which was related with her Holy Light and Miracle Magic instead of her Earth Attribute Magic.
