Chapter 2168.4: Cerulean Sword Dragon, Suppressed Memories

Chapter 2168.4: Cerulean Sword Dragon, Suppressed Memories

“Moon Slayer!” roared the young man as he chopped the air with his right hand. Rays of moonlight swiftly gathered in an enormous blade of light and smashed downward.

RUMBLE.

The countless rays of sword light immediately shattered and their owner spat out blood, falling to the ground. The blade of light continued unabated and crushed the Ling residence.

“Patriarch!!” Screams of woe and terror rang from the complex. The blade of light had split apart the patriarch of the Ling Clan, Ling Chongxiao, and their family home!

“This seat is but selecting a treasure today, so how dare a mere Ling Clan resist! This transgression cannot be pardoned. Killing only your patriarch is already an act of mercy, so you should be grateful!” The fey young man sniffed and headed to the outskirts of the city, sword light beneath his feet.

Humm!

A second ray of sword light rose from another direction as soon as he turned and shot straight at him.

“Another fool who’s had enough of living.” The young man turned around and sent out a blade of light, immediately shattering the sword light. However, it did its job and kept him where he was. A thin cultivator in gray robes appeared in front of him.

“How dare a mere golden core run rampant through Darklake Empire? Do you think there is no one left in Dark City?” Gray Robes was wrapped in a thin layer of mist, his features impossible to make out.

“No one in the vast Dusk City has stepped forward but you. You seek to make a name for yourself through me, don’t you?” The young man in white stared coolly at Gray Robes, derision playing on his lips.

The various sects and factions of the world of cultivation kept to themselves and very rarely stuck their nose in other people’s affairs. Although the Ling Clan was under attack, cultivators from the other families wouldn’t make a move unless the Lings requested help.

“Hahaha, make a name for myself through you? Is there anything about you that would help me?” Gray Robes roared with laughter. “You’re just golden core, but you were able to kill the latter nascent soul patriarch. You must have come into enormous fortune, so if I kill you, that fortune will be mine!”

Several nascent soul powerhouses flew out of the Ling complex as they spoke.

“Fellow daoist, thank you for stopping this cretin. The Lings will remember this debt of gratitude.” Senior elder Ling Tianfeng raised cupped fists at the stranger, then shouted, “Set up the formation!”

Seven nascent soul elders assembled into formation and blocked the young man’s avenue of retreat.

“Kill!” Gray Robes went on the offensive as soon as he saw the formation snap into place. His bright yellow sword exploded with sword light that was a few dozen meters tall and he directed it at the young man’s head.

His opponent also sensed that Gray Robes was different from his opponents thus far and took the oncoming conflict more seriously.

……

Lu Yun stood on the roof of his house and looked to the western sky.

“Bloodbath seriously thought way too highly of himself. He said that no one in Darklake is a match for him, but just a few nascent soul cultivators are keeping him in place!” He curled his lip and slapped a Transformation Talisman onto himself, flying toward the west in a streak of dull sword light.

The disguised Bloodbath was battling Gray Robes. Although he absolutely held the upper hand, his opponent was no pushover. The formation of seven Ling elders was in full operation and helped Gray Robes fight Bloodbath to a standstill.

Thousands of Ling cultivators stood on the ground, calling energy from the surroundings as they set up a certain formation. There were also numerous cultivators from other factions watching the fight—in particular a few nascent soul elders from the Ouyang Clan. They trembled with fear when they saw the young man in white robes.

Bloodbath, that has to be Bloodbath! Ouyang Zhen shrieked inwardly. Although his appearance and aura has changed, he’s definitely Bloodbath! Why has he gone for the Lings? He must have co-conspirators!

“Go home, the Ouyangs will not be involved with this.” Ouyang Shengtian was acquainted with Bloodbath since childhood. He recognized the figure in the air with a single glance and immediately called for a retreat.

He was deeply afraid that the old man would discover their presence.

Ouyang Shengtian wasn’t the type to let impulse take control; he possessed absolute calm. Bloodbath’s existence severely threatened the family, but he wasn’t naive enough to think that this was a good time to get rid of the old man.

The three ninth rank cultivation empires had posted a bounty on Bloodbath’s head for one hundred years, but the old man was still hale and hearty. If it wasn’t for him taking a wrong turn on his own cultivation and subsequently losing all of it, the Ouyangs wouldn’t have captured him.

Now recovered from his paralyzed state, he wasn’t someone that a third rank empire could contain—even if he was only golden core. Bloodbath escaping from their hands meant that he certainly had someone helping him.

However, inspiration struck Ouyang Shengtian. He had a wonderful idea to alleviate pressure on his clan.

……

“What is Bloodbath doing?” Lu Yun looked askance as he flew with dull sword light. The old man was starting to lose ground and his movements were turning messy. There were even sword marks on his pristine white robes!

“The Lings have lost a patriarch? That’s far from enough. If the Ouyangs decide to kill the Lings en masse…” It took only a brief moment for Lu Yun to understand what the elder intended. The more bedraggled he became, the more his original moves reverted to what Ouyang Shenghe and Ouyang Shengxiang would utilize.

Bloodbath suddenly formed a hand seal and created a massive wave behind him. Terrifying aura spread in all directions and the wave grew into a ball thirty meters across.

“The ultimate art of the Ouyang Clan—Waves Breaking The Heavens! You’re an Ouyang!” Ling Tianfeng cried out with shock when he saw the ball of water.

“Retreat!” Gray Robes also reacted with unwelcome surprise. “So you’re an Ouyang… hmph!” He snorted and raised his sword light to leave.

BOOM!

The cerulean water ball exploded into a mighty torrent that rushed toward the Ling residence below.

A Ling elder was obliterated upon being struck by the torrent. The nascent soul elder only had time for one agonized scream before he flew to pieces. The golden core and foundation establishment cultivators were even worse off. They stood no chance and were vaporized to the person.

“Heh heh heh, the Ouyang Clan? This seat is no Ouyang, I am their enemy! I purposefully learned their ultimate art to frame them!” Bloodbath cackled as he gazed down over the heavily damaged Ling residence.

Who would believe him now? Whatever he said was just an attempt to cover up the truth. How would an outsider learn the ultimate art of a clan?!

“No matter who you are, you will die tonight! A treasure that enables a latter golden core to wield so much power… I will have it!” Gray Robes erupted with a powerful aura and collected a dense array of sword light around him. He transformed into a sixty meter long dragon that twisted in Bloodbath’s direction.

“What kind of technique is this?!” Bloodbath gasped, sensing how terrifying the dragon of sword light was.

“The Eighteen Cerulean Sword Dragons!” Lu Yun also gasped. He’d seen this technique in his travels through the three thousand worlds—when he reincarnated through the world of immortals. It was a premier art in that world.

“No, wait!” Something seemed to explode in his mind. The Eighteen Cerulean Sword Dragons?! Vast Dragon Seaturner?!

This thing doesn’t belong to the three thousand worlds, it doesn’t! I have to suppress it, I have to keep it down! I can’t let the sealed off memories awaken!!

“I must have it, I must have the Eighteen Cerulean Sword Dragons!” Lu Yun stared fixedly, a new obsession brewing in his heart. It was very important to him! He took a deep breath and tamped down the agitating memories in his mind.

“Freeze!” He pointed at the enormous dragon.

Pfft!

Lu Yun’s eyes widened with surprise as the dragon only stuttered momentarily before continuing toward Bloodbath.

“A spirit treasure level defensive item!” he frowned. Based on the Petrification art that he could deploy now, his opponent had to be three cultivation levels higher than him or equipped with a defensive item that was spirit treasure and above. The other wouldn’t so easily overlook the art otherwise.

At his current cultivation level, he could petrify nascent soul cultivators for a single breath.

Gray Robes was just initial nascent soul, but could ignore Lu Yun’s Petrification. That meant there was at least one spirit treasure level defensive item on him.

“Who is Gray Robes… He seems familiar…” Lu Yun rushed toward the man without any hesitation.
