Chapter 59 – Sudden Change
After awakening from his enlightenment, Lu Ping discovered that the war between the seven bloodlines had ended. The foundation bloodline had taken control over his blood flow.
As the blood circulated in his body, spiritual energy was absorbed from the surroundings and compressed into arcane energy. A stream of arcane energy would flow into his heart with each circulation. An inner space had formed within his heart. The arcane energy would flow into the inner space and gradually condense into a bead—the Condensed Blood Bead.
However, the Condensed Blood Bead was only the size of a soybean now. It would grow larger with his cultivation progress.
Lu Ping came back to his senses. Right now, he could clearly “see” inside his body, and inspect every strand of his nerves and muscles. This meant that Lu Ping now had the divine sense!
He couldn’t wait to extend his divine sense to view his surroundings. All of a sudden, the cultivation room appeared in Lu Ping’s mind, all while his eyes were closed.
Feeling jubilant, he decided to extend his divine sense further away from the cultivation room, allowing him to clearly see everything within a radius of 20 yards.
Lu Ping was surprised by this discovery. As far as he knew, the divine sense of an ordinary cultivator who had just advanced into the Blood Condensation Realm only had a range of 10 yards.
Even those talented ones with an innately strong divine sense could increase their range by another yard or two—he’d never heard of anyone that could double their range.
While he was overjoyed in his heart, he cautioned himself to conceal his innately strong divine sense from others. He would treat it as a hidden trump card.
In fact, Lu Ping had his own theory concerning his innate command of the divine sense. He was originally not from this world. As someone who had transmigrated, his soul was a fusion of two people. It stood to reason that his divine sense was twice as powerful as ordinary cultivators. Perhaps, this was a form of compensation from the transmigration.
However, in order to explain away this abnormality, he needed to find a cultivation method, one that would further strengthen his incredibly strong divine sense.
Now that he’d entered the Blood Condensation Realm, Lu Ping poured all his efforts into consolidating his cultivation. For that reason, Lu Ping rented a cultivation room for the longest period possible.
Lu Ping used his divine sense to learn that his foundation bloodline was the Water Jiao Bloodline. Perhaps it was his enlightenment in the water spells that caused his Water Jiao Bloodline to suddenly rise, defeating the other six bloodlines to become the foundation bloodline.
Through his divine sense, Lu Ping learned that his other six bloodlines were: Wind Peng, Wood Luan, Water Turtle, Earth Ape, Ice Tiger, and Fire Cicada.
Lu Ping couldn’t help but smile bitterly. His luck sure wasn’t good. Other than the Water Turtle Bloodline and Ice Tiger Bloodline, the rest weren’t compatible with his Water Jiao Bloodline. The fusion of the first two bloodlines would be much easier and would better enhance his cultivation.
By contrast, the fusion of the other four bloodlines would take more time and effort. A slight moment of carelessness could affect the purity of his foundation bloodline. This would directly impact his cultivation further down the road and affect Lu Ping’s goal for longevity.
Just when Lu Ping calmed down to inspect his bloodlines in his body, the peace between the bloodlines suddenly changed.
The sudden shift caught Lu Ping off guard. The dominant Water Jiao Bloodline suddenly launched an attack on his Water Turtle Bloodline. The attack agitated the other bloodlines that had calmed down not long ago.
Lu Ping assumed his consolidated foundation and the three Blood Condensation Pellets had caused his Water Jiao Bloodline to absorb the Water Turtle Bloodline’s arcane energy and eradicate it out of his body. After that, he would enter the Second Layer Blood Condensation Realm.
Although it was rare for a cultivator to enter the Second Layer right after the breakthrough, it wasn’t unheard of.
However, Lu Ping quickly realized he was wrong. The Water Jiao Bloodline wasn’t trying to absorb the Water Turtle Bloodline’s arcane energy—it was trying to devour it completely!
If the arcane energy in the Turtle Bloodline was absorbed, the Turtle Bloodline would be wasted but it would still remain in his body. His Water Jiao Bloodline would then inherit some properties from the Water Turtle Bloodline.
Devouring meant that his Water Jiao Bloodline would completely siphon away every last trace of the Water Turtle Bloodline without leaving anything behind. In short, Lu Ping wouldn’t have a Turtle Bloodline within him anymore.
Naturally, this cruel and domineering action caused heavy resistance from the Turtle Bloodline. Moreover, the breakthrough only determined the strongest and dominant foundation bloodline; it wasn’t a life and death battle like the one happening now.
Not only was the Turtle Bloodline struggling and resisting, the other five bloodlines also felt threatened. They became agitated and were showing signs of working together to fight against the foundation bloodline.
Lu Ping suddenly felt a loss of control. His divine sense was connected with his bloodlines and he could sense a mysterious force rooted deep inside his foundation bloodline. This mysterious force emerged with his divine sense’s birth, as if it was a natural part of his own soul.
Immediately, Lu Ping formed a guess in his mind. This mysterious force must have something to do with his transmigration to this world!
But this thought flashed through his mind for only a split second. Right now, he had no time to think about anything other than the current situation. The fight between the two bloodlines had turned fierce. Although the foundation bloodline had the upper hand, it needed more time to devour the Turtle Bloodline.
And even if the foundation bloodline succeeded, his foundation might be severely injured and affect his future cultivation. Thinking about it, Lu Ping took out his last Blood Condensation Pellet and clenched his teeth.
Success or failure, it all depends on this now!
As he consumed the fourth and final Blood Condensation Pellet, the medicinal efficacy turned into a huge stream of arcane energy that was quickly absorbed by his foundation bloodline, boosting its might. It gradually devoured the Turtle Bloodline.
Lu Ping could feel the sudden increase in his arcane energy, almost twice of what he had before. Not only that, but the Condensed Blood Bead was also two times bigger in size, growing from the size of a soybean to a peanut.
Every move he made was followed with ripples of strong arcane energy, as if he could command the world in his hands. In his excitement, he had forgotten how changes to his bloodlines would affect his future cultivation. His only thought was that he’d never felt this powerful before.
But soon, Lu Ping came back to his senses. He realized that although his arcane energy was twice as large, his cultivation remained in the First Layer Blood Condensation Realm. There was still only one Condensed Blood Bead in the space within his heart. It was just that this Condensed Blood Bead was bigger than normal.
This simply meant Lu Ping would be stronger than other cultivators in the same cultivation layer. But at the same time, a more consolidated foundation meant he would have to spend more time and effort honing his arcane energy in order to progress.
Assuming that Lu Ping’s cultivation layer didn’t break through, one of the seven bloodlines was already devoured and gone. He had no idea what effect this would bring to his future cultivation.
But in order to gain one thing, one must lose another.
At the very least, a consolidated foundation would enable him to travel further on his path to longevity. The downside was having to race against the clock to enter the next cultivation realm to extend his lifespan. This would go on until he either ran out of time or eventually achieved longevity.
Lu Ping could only comfort himself in this way.
