Chapter 5285 Cold Treatment
Chapter 5285 Cold Treatment
Everyone watched as the Gold Lion left and then turned back to Long Chen, too shocked to speak.
Long Chen’s aura had been overshadowed by the Gold Lion’s Emperor pressure. Now that it was gone, they realized that Long Chen was merely a Sage King.
Among these young disciples, some were Saints, while others were Heaven Saints. However, all of them possessed powerful auras. They had probably already awakened their heaven-veins. By comparison, a Sage King seemed slightly below average among them.
They couldn’t help but be shocked by Long Chen’s cultivation base. Given his audacity in riding a three-vein Emperor Gold Lion, his strength should have been much greater.
“Do you come from the outside world?” asked the two-vein Emperor, stepping forward and bowing slightly.
Hearing that, the young disciples let out startled cries and stared at Long Chen excitedly.
“I suppose so. I’m headed for the depths of the Endless Desolation. That dumb lion suddenly blocked my path, but I heard that there were other humans here, so I had it bring me over,” answered Long Chen.
“Did no one from the Gold Lion race try to stop you when you caught that one?” asked the two-vein Emperor.
“A group of them surrounded me, but with that fellow in my hands, they had no choice but to let me go,” Long Chen said with a casual smile.
However, while Long Chen smiled, no one else did. Their faces showed only worry.
“May I ask where you come from?” the two-vein Emperor asked again.
Long Chen’s expression darkened as he stared at the two-vein Emperor coldly, refusing to respond.
The two-vein Emperor’s heart skipped a beat, and he quickly apologized, “My apologies. Our situation here is not great, and we must be cautious.”
“I indeed come from outside the Endless Desolation,” replied Long Chen in a cold tone.
His expression was rather dark now as he was treated coldly for no reason. It seemed that these people didn’t welcome him.
“From outside?” the group exclaimed in shock.
“If you really come from outside the Desolation, how can you be this strong?” asked one elder.
They knew that the Heavenly Dao laws beyond the Endless Desolation were incomplete, unsuitable for cultivation. Long Chen’s claim instantly raised their doubts.
Annoyed, Long Chen retorted, “I, Long Chen, disdain lying. I’m just passing through. If it’s convenient, I’d like to know how far the so-called depths of the Endless Desolation are. A map would be even better. Of course, I’m not asking for charity. We can always trade resources.”
From the two-vein Emperor’s worried eyes, Long Chen could tell that they were worried about the Gold Lion race. Were they afraid of being implicated?
Despite being humans, they didn’t show any warmth or hospitality toward him. No one even bothered to ask his name or share their own, making it clear they had no intention of welcoming him.
The young disciples couldn’t help looking at the two-vein Emperor. They were all very curious and wanted to hear what it was like outside the Endless Desolation. However, the two-vein Emperor’s attitude left them disappointed.
Long Chen had looked happy when he first came, but now his expression was dark. The young disciples could see that he was turned off by their cold treatment. Even ordinary people wouldn’t accept this kind of treatment, let alone an expert on his level.
As the tension mounted, a voice rang out, ancient and commanding, “Chi Feng, an important guest has come from afar. As fellow humans, we should greet him warmly. Who treats a guest like this? Perhaps the position of Tianyu City’s guard doesn’t suit you.”
A new group of people appeared, led by an elder wielding a staff, supported by those around him.
“Patriarch!” Startled cries rang out.
“Patriarch, why have you come out?” One of the Human Emperors hastily ran over to support the old man.
This elder was incredibly old, his hair white and hanging to his waist. The wrinkles on his face were long and deep, and his Blood Qi had long since waned, but his eyes still glowed like a bright lantern.
Long Chen was startled by the elder’s presence. Despite his frail appearance, he radiated immense pressure. Long Chen couldn’t gauge the elder’s cultivation, but his intuition told him that this old man had been a terrifying existence back in his youth.
“Patriarch, weren’t you in seclusion? Why have you come out?” asked the two-vein Emperor hastily.
“A guest of great importance has arrived. Even if I was waiting in my coffin, I would still come to greet this peerless heavenly genius from beyond the Desolation!” the elder said as he walked toward Long Chen.
Seeing the elder swaying with every step, Long Chen hastily bowed. “Junior Long Chen greets senior!”
The elder appraised Long Chen and nodded in approval. “Good, good, truly good! For the land beyond the Desolation to produce such a terrifying heavenly genius, the qi flow of the Heavenly Daos is changing. The human race finally has hope to turn the tide. Good, good!”
The elder’s eyes glowed with admiration for Long Chen. But on the other hand, Long Chen was worried that this might be the elder’s final bit of energy, and he would collapse afterward.
Chi Feng, however, remained concerned. “Patriarch, I’m not being rude to our guest. It’s just that he and the Gold Lion race…”
“His scuffles with the Gold Lion race mean nothing. We’re all humans. Do you not understand why we’ve survived for so long between the Stone Spirit race and the Gold Lion race? If we were not united, we’d have been devoured long ago. How can you not understand this?” the elder reprimanded sharply.
“Yes, Patriarch. Chi Feng is wrong,” replied the two-vein Emperor as he lowered his head.
“Senior, you don’t need to make things hard on him. My arrival was sudden, and I don’t want to cause trouble. I just seek a map or direction to the depths of the Endless Desolation. I didn’t have time to prepare a proper gift, but I do have this Longevity Pill that you may find useful.”
Long Chen took out a case and opened it, revealing a golden pill that gleamed in the light.
The elder was already waving his hand to reject it when he saw that golden pill and froze. The others were also stunned by it.
“A peerless-grade… golden pill?”
