Chapter 62 - Pride And Prejudice
UNEDITED VERSION
She was looking for ways to sneak into his phone and house, but never did she imagine that Wan Yi Jun would believe her so much that he was ready to give away two of his most private belongings.
Even after Wan Yi Jun's car left Wisteria garden, Ming Yue couldn't move away from the spot where she stood.
She couldn't accept the fact that she was holding Wan Yi Jun's cellphone and his house key in her hands.
She thought Wan YiJun was a meticulous police officer, but after watching him carelessly believing in an imposter, an enemy to be precise.
Ming Yue gently lowered her eyes to the phone and turned it on to check anything that may help them.
As soon as the mobile turned on, the blank screen got replaced with a photograph of a husky with a pair of blue and brown eyes,
'Mooney,'
Ming Yue's lips subconsciously uttered the name that was part of her childhood- her dog.
It was a gift from Wan Yi Jun on her birthday, and the name 'Mooney' was Han Ze Min's contribution.
She wasn't sure what had made Wan Yi Jun get her a dog who looked exactly like her, but she used to believe that he did it, just to tell her that her eyes were rare and special.
Though she didn't show it outside, Ming Yue was very much concerned about her bi-coloured eyes since it was a feature everyone used to tease her.
The day she was abandoned by the Wan family, Ming Yue was forced to believe that they had made sure to wipe her memories from Wan Yi Jun's life forever,
However, watching Wan Yi Jun holding onto their past, to her memories, was something she least expected from him.
It was something that was supposed to hand over to the madam of the Wisteria garden, something that was given to the daughter in law of the family.
"Why?" She mumbled while tightening her grip on the phone and quickly shoved it into her hoodie's pocket as if she got no courage to look into it.
"Don't let him fool you," She said and looked at the key engraved in the shape of a wisteria flower,
"Don't let anyone fool you." Ming Yue muttered under her breath as she turned around and stomped into the mansion.

At the same time, the eagle team's office was witnessing the burning debate between the members who were guessing the reason for the absence of the major two members of their team.
Wan Yi Jun and Han Ze Min, two diligent officers who were known for their punctuality were nowhere to see even after the official reporting time was over.
"I don't think so. As far as I know, Captain Wan never took their relationship as serious enough to let it affect his career." Shen Junru made a counterargument, placing his bet on his beloved idol. "And Miss Cai even said that Captain never accepted Miss Zhi, so I don't think he is heartbroken enough to stay home."
"I swear, they had a huge fight, at least over the phone. Otherwise, Captain Wan must have stayed in the office instead of going home." Bing Wen argued as he sat in a circle with the other team members.
"But whatever happened last night was a bit overboard. I have never seen captain trying so hard to hide his frustration." Lao Yating added in a concerned voice,
"She could have avoided that term."
"Hmm, I feel the same. No matter how much Miss Cai hated officer Han, it is not so nice to drag some dead person and accuse the investigator that he got personal agendas against her. That's why I tried to stop her." Fei Yan justified his actions from last night's interrogation.
"Of course, anyone would have become frustrated when his 'girlfriend' supports a suspect who got no control over her words. Did you all see officer Han's face when that woman mentioned his 'dead girlfriend'? If I was in his shoes, I would have never allowed anyone to speak ill of a dead person like that." Bing Wen shared his own opinion,
"But senior Fei, did you see how captain Wan took his cousin's side when that woman accused officer Han?" Bing Wen spoke like a fangirl, with a wide grin on his face, "Bros before girls, damn. That was so cool."
"Sometimes, I wonder whether it is true that both of them were rivals. All I can see is the perfect example of two headstrong people who pretend to hate, but secretly supports each other's back." Lao Yating added with a smile when he recalled the interactions between Wan Yi Jun and Han Ze Min.
"Exactly, did you see how captain Wan made sure to leave some dumplings for officer Han in return for the morning coffee? Earlier it was even hard to stand in the same spot with those two, don't you remember, Senior Fei?"
"Of course, I do. I'm surprised that they seem closer than before." Fei Yan gave an agreeing nod and continued in a pleasant tone.
"On their last mission together, those two were practically fighting with each other. But now that both of them are working together, it seems like they have come into an agreement. After all, time heals every wound." He sighed heavily as he recalled the cold war period between the brothers.
"Exactly, did you see how captain Wan made sure to leave some dumplings for officer Han in return for the morning coffee? Earlier it was even hard to stand in the same spot with those two, don't you remember, Senior Fei?"
"You have worked with officer Han, too? Have you seen officer Han's girlfriend, senior Fei?" Bing Wen asked all of a sudden when he remembered the dead girlfriend whom they mentioned earlier.
"No. Not at all. I'm hearing it for the first time." Fei Yan quickly rejected and saved himself from spilling any truth.
"To be honest, there was a rumour going around that officer Han also liked miss Zhi." Lao Yating said in a doubting tone,
"Is that why Captain rejected miss Zhi? Oh my god, did he also believe those rumours and move away so that miss Zhi would accept his cousin who lost his girlfriend" Bing Wen added in a breath and a pair of widened eyes as if he solved a mystery.
"Bing Wen, I think you should switch careers." Shen Junru, who got fed up with Bing Wen's excitement, said in a voice doused in sarcasm, "I damn sure that you will be a great scriptwriter."
"I totally agree with you." Lao Yating almost gave a hi-five to Shen Junru when his eyes fell on the familiar figure at the doorstep.
"Good morning, captain." He jumped up from the seat and stood in attention, making others do the same.
"Yes, captain. I have sorted the footage of Miss Cai's car leaving the club around 10 pm and entering Miss Zhi's house in less than 45 minutes. Both of her phone signals were in the same cell tower territory as miss Zhi's." Bing Wen replied in a single breath, surprising everyone else. To be honest, everyone thought that he was slacking off his work and only interested in gossiping. But in reality, Bing Wen was so hellbound on impressing Wan Yi Jun, he made sure to complete his tasks before anything else.
"Good morning, everyone." Wan Yi Jun bowed his head a little and took a seat next to Bing Wen, just to check whatever he was doing in the system.
"Have you checked Miss Cai's alibi?"
"What about the call details of Cai Hong's assistant?"
"I'm cross-checking it, captain. Will be done by today evening."
"Good job," Wan Yi Jun gave a nod of appraisal. However, before he could say something, his phone rang loudly, and he quickly left the room to pick up the call.
"See, he is completely alright." Shen Junru shrugged his shoulders as if he had won their bet.
"But officer Han is still absent."
"I told you, guys. He switched sides."
"I didn't. I will always stay as Captain's side."
"Thank you, Bing Wen. And I'm sorry that I came late. I'm just busy with moving in."
"You still haven't settled, captain?"
"I did, but my cook hasn't. The construction workers were supposed to come today morning."
"Do you live far away from the city, Captian?"
"Yeah, almost one hour drive towards the north side,"
"Isn't the place where the ruins of so many historical monuments are present?"
"Yes, it used to be old capital."
"I want to visit them at least once. One of my friends took references to that place for his game. It looked so magnificent."
"I'm planning to go for a trip to that place once this case gets over."
"You can come over when the renovation works are over."
"Really?"
"I wanted to invite everyone to my house and give a welcome party. But I don't think it will work."
"Why?"
"It's not a place where people usually goes."
"I just hope everything goes well and will be able to settle as soon as possible."
"No wonder, he looks so tired always. I was always trying
