Only I Am A Reader

Chapter 274 Inner Scale Armor!

"I'm going, want to go together?"

"Of course, the more the merrier! This will be fun!"

Regardless of information authenticity, Martial Artists all over the murim quickly started setting out for the supposed destination. The majority was just going to see the show, but there wasn't one that didn't have thoughts about an actual Azure Tree!

What if there was really one? What if I was the lucky one to obtain one of the few Sky Fruits? Such thoughts filled everyone's minds even if they were only considering it half-jokingly. In fact, almost no one seemed to care about the chance of it being a 'blank'.

After all, if this was actually the one in a million chance where the informant was being honest, then who could deny the relatively higher possibility of the Azure Tree emerging with ripe fruits?

With these thoughts in mind, the great march that came to be known later as the Green Sky March had strongly begun!

`~~~`~~~`~~~`

'Let's hope this will be enough to change things.'

Getting out of bed with thoughts crowding his mind, Leo prayed for success. Unlike how simple things appeared to be, changing things wasn't that easy of a task… At least not when there were too many sides involved.

Would that be enough to prevent the first big blow that the Heavenly Strength Society was bound to take? Would they perhaps manage to grab one or two of the fruits now that the point of view had changed? And most importantly… Would his senior brother survive this time?

Leo had no answers for something that had already flown out of the 'plot tracks', all he could do was train to the best of his ability for the last four days, preparing for the situation where his limited ability might be of any help.

'Ha…'

Leo could only sigh as he took a quick look at his Personal Book. Although his skills and abilities could be said to have advanced greatly, that was only in the minimal scope of things. In the battle of behemoths that they were just about to head to, he was more like a footsoldier if anything…

Knock. Knock.

While Leo was trying to shrug off his gloomy thoughts, two light sounds came from the door of his room before it was pushed open.

Yeon's figure emerged from behind the door, but she didn't come in alone. She casually walked in and sat on the bed next to him, revealing Cheon Jeong who seemed to hold two bundles of sorts.

"How is your preparation?"

"I'm ready… If I get to do something that is."

Despite turning out to be right, Leo didn't receive any form of apology from Cheon Jeong for doubting him, nor was he expecting something, to begin with.

Even if he were to disregard the difference in status, to expect someone to directly believe his 'speculations' was stretching it too far. Rather, it was only logical to deny his opinion if he didn't provide evident reasons to support it, otherwise, it would be stupidity instead of trust. After all, their relationship as senior and junior hadn't reached the level of blind trust just yet.

'Things might be different if I do this again though.'

Although he would be risking to out himself as a reader who wasn't just a character, Leo's current words and 'gut feeling' currently had enough believability to support another ploy like this.

"Ahem… I was planning to give you this later as a congratulation for achieving transcendence, but you will probably need it more now. So… here."

Cheon Jeong pushed a bundle each towards Leo and Yeon. It seemed like she had brought Yeon here so she could give them their gifts at the same time.

'This is…'

Leo quickly opened the bundle to find a set of strange clothing. It was confusing at first, but he quickly recognized the familiar object.

'Wyvern scales?'

The clothing was nothing other than an inner armor made using the scales of the black wyvern that they had brought back from Mount Hua! With the refined scales on the outside and the tough but comfy leather on the inside, it was very suitable to wear under the Society's core division silver dragon robes!

Although the monster who possessed these scales died miserably fast, that was only because the Blade Spirit was his opponent! To this moment, not many monsters could rival the wyverns' defense that could perfectly block physical strikes up to the Transcendent level!

"The other two will get something similar, but consider this an additional reward for your achievement back then. Our return announcement was even stronger than we hoped thanks to you two."

Cheon Jeong left her words behind as they went out to give them the chance to get accustomed to the new addition to their equipment. At the very least, Leo managed to get one more item that could guarantee his life.

'This is a pretty good catch.'

As far as Leo remembered, only Yeon was supposed to get something like this while he and the other three would receive lamia hide that negated Peak level attacks. Perhaps… the fight for the Azure Tree wouldn't go as bad as he thought it would?

'As always, there is only one way to know.'

Exchanging glances with Yeon who left after staring for a while, Leo got into his new armor. He was even more ready for their departure!
